The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1490: Chapter 1490: Entering the City (2)

Governor’s Office City is not like Jin City; this is the most marginal city. During the former emperor’s reign, there was a brief period when a trading market was opened, but it was closed after just one year and has never opened since. However, the population here is still quite sizeable, roughly thirty to forty thousand. Ji Lin surrendered directly at that time, so most of the civilians did not flee.

After the city was occupied by the Yuan people, food and women were looted by them. Furthermore, they were divided into two groups. One group remained in the city to serve the Yuan people here, while the other group was sent out of Governor’s Office City. The food was transported to Yuan Country, and the women were given to the Yuan army outside to be used.

There were women who resisted, but most of them were directly ravaged and tortured to death.

But now, the city houses thirty thousand soldiers, and there are several tens of thousands more stationed at Governor’s Office Pass outside.

Despite the large number of people in the city, it still seemed bleak.

And the civilians have been gathered by the Yuan army in the southwestern area of the city, convenient for bringing them up to the city’s ramparts.

”Over there.” Eyeing the entire city, Yang Ruxin combined what she had observed of the maps of Governor’s Office City and had gained a detailed understanding of the city’s layout. She then made a hand signal to Xiaohei.

Xiaohei, understanding her intent, flew down towards the direction indicated by Yang Ruxin. However, in mid-air, Gu Qingheng flipped down to the ground, followed by Yang Ruxin jumping down, landing in Gu Qingheng’s arms.

Meanwhile, Xiaohei and Heihei continued circling in mid-air with their son.

”Stay here, I’ll go check outside,” Gu Qingheng said as he set Yang Ruxin down on the ground.

”There’s no one here,” Yang Ruxin shook her head, ”Xiaobai is up ahead.”

Only then did Gu Qingheng notice that at the mouth of the alley where they had landed, Xiaobai was squatting there, keeping watch.

A flash crossed Gu Qingheng’s eyes. With Xiaobai’s huge frame, when did he get in? Yet he didn’t ask and simply nodded: ”Let’s go take a look at the city gate.”

The two moved silently to an alley near the North City gate, peeked out and saw many soldiers near the gate, with frequent patrols, making it difficult to approach unnoticed.

”I have something here.” Yang Ruxin pulled out a small porcelain bottle, ”The old man just developed it; he says it’s poison, but it hasn’t been tested yet. Shall we give it a try?”

Gu Qingheng smiled, ”How do you propose we test it?”

A sly smile crossed the corner of Yang Ruxin’s mouth: ”We could throw the porcelain bottle over there and shatter it; the powder will volatilize upon contact with the air. However, determining where and how to throw it requires careful study.” As she said this, she glanced at the small porcelain bottle, ”As for the effect of the contents, I’m really looking forward to it.”

Gu Qingheng nodded, ”Shall I give it a try?”

Yang Ruxin frowned, considering Gu Qingheng’s Inner Strength. He had the ability to injure people with a flying leaf, so the bottle could theoretically be thrown seventy to eighty meters, perhaps even a hundred meters. However, their current position was more than five hundred meters from the city gate, so it was too far.

”I can get a bit closer,” Gu Qingheng said, aware of Yang Ruxin’s apprehension.

”Forget it, it’s still not workable,” Yang Ruxin suddenly shook her head again.

”What’s wrong?” Gu Qingheng frowned.

”There are civilians at the city gate,” Yang Ruxin said, somewhat dispirited, ”We can’t use this thing.”
