The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

253: Chapter 253 Full of SurprisesHan Jingyang was very surprised.

Were this father and daughter for real?

This apology was far too sincere.

Under normal circumstances, how could such a thing happen?

Most people, even if they have done something wrong, will try their best to pretend nothing happened before they are exposed; harboring wishful thinking is just human nature.

Moreover, from the perspective of this father and daughter, it wouldn’t have mattered if they didn’t apologize, because they had already provided me with benefits.

Yet, they insisted on coming over to apologize in person.

And they even brought gifts.

What was I supposed to do now?

Should I accept or not?

If I accept, it makes me look like a money-grubber.

If I don’t, that’s even more inappropriate.

At this moment, Wang Junyan added, ”Brother Han, I was unaware of what my father did beforehand. My father is someone who doesn’t know the immensity of heaven and earth, and because he owed someone a favor, he agreed as soon as they asked. He just thought it was a matter of giving a gift while setting up his stall. When you turned around and left at Wang Xiaobin’s doorstep this morning, my father realized that this matter wasn’t so simple. He felt very sorry towards you, so he quickly gathered a few small items to come here and apologize.”

Han Jingyang felt much better instantly.

Wang Junyan was indeed good with words. The same matter, when spoken by her, sounded very soothing, logical, and sincere, leaving no room for complaint.

So, should he forgive them?

Thinking this, he nodded slightly at Wang Anzhong and Wang Junyan, ”Since you have explained things clearly, I won’t beat around the bush with you. That guy with the messy hair is named Wang Xiaobin, right? His trouble is quite significant. You had best not get involved; it could cost someone their life.”

Wang Anzhong was shocked, ”It’s that dangerous?”

”Yes, that’s how it is in this industry. Either nothing happens, or if it does, it’s a big deal. Especially when it involves core interests like dharma instruments, heritage, and major business deals, it’s common for lives to be lost.”

”dharma instruments?”

”That painting by Zou Yigui you mentioned—although I haven’t examined it personally, what you described is a dharma instrument.”

”This, this... would someone kill to seize a treasure?”

”Seizing the treasure is certain; whether they kill or not depends on their attitude.”

”Then what should we do?”

Han Jingyang shrugged, ”Either sell it quickly, or leave it to fate.”

Wang Anzhong seemed a bit distraught.

Wang Junyan sighed, ”Wang Xiaobin is my uncle, within the extended family, and he was the one who brought my father into this line of work. My father is someone who talks tough but has a soft heart, so he is worried about something going wrong.”

Han Jingyang nodded, ”You can tell him directly, but I suspect it won’t be of any use. How should I put it? Character determines destiny, and such is human nature. Human greed is insatiable; most people’s first reaction after discovering a treasure is to hide it and sell it for an exorbitant price, even if they know full well there is danger, they are unwilling to let it go for a low price.”

Wang Junyan also nodded, ”My father said he tried to persuade him a few days ago, but it was useless; he wouldn’t listen at all. When he tried to persuade him too hard, they almost got into a fight. Later, they came up with this crooked scheme, wanting you, a renowned Feng Shui master, to go and take a look, but as it turned out...”

Han Jingyang waved his hand, ”No need to explain. Let it be. Just stay safe. As for me, I definitely don’t have time; I have very important matters to attend to.”

Wang Junyan nodded quickly, ”I know. Coming here today didn’t have any other meaning; it was simply for my father to apologize, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to rest easy.”

As she spoke, she opened the box Wang Anzhong had brought and placed it in front of Han Jingyang, ”Mr. Han, please accept our heartfelt token.”

Han Jingyang looked straight at Wang Junyan.

What on earth does this young woman want?

Is she really here to apologize?

Or is there another motive?

No, there must be another motive.

Although there was no malice, but...

Could she have taken a liking to me?

That shouldn’t be the case.

But she definitely had the intention of building a connection.

We are all in the same profession, but my fame is significant, and everyone knows I can perform Consecration on dharma instruments, and the dharma instruments I create are all very effective. It is perfectly reasonable for this young woman to want to build a connection with me.

Since that is the case, there is no need to be polite.

Han Jingyang took the box and looked down. There were three blue-and-white porcelain cups, similar to ’press-hand’ cups, but they were not a set. There were significant differences in their shape, style, patterns, and craftsmanship, and even the thickness of the porcelain body varied noticeably.

However, by the looks of them, they were all antique items.

As for the price, it wouldn’t be low either.

Han Jingyang picked them up to examine them, raised his eyebrows, and was secretly pleasantly surprised.

This Old Wang has good things at home.

Among the three small teacups, two actually triggered the appraisal prompt.

Awesome!

This can’t be explained by just skill effects.

It can only be said that Wang Anzhong’s family foundation is truly solid.

I can interact with him more in the future.

Thinking this, he stood up and took a Hetian jade pendant from the counter to hand to Wang Junyan, ”This is for you, as a return gift. Feel free to come by often when you have free time.”

Wang Junyan was overjoyed. She took the pendant and immediately put it on her slender neck, turned around twice, and nodded with satisfaction, ”Thank you, Brother Han.”

”You’re welcome. Sit down and have some tea, Old Wang as well.”

”Thank you, thank you.”

Half an hour later, the father and daughter, Wang Anzhong and Wang Junyan, left.

Shi Xiaoya giggled and hugged Han Jingyang’s arm, ”Hubby, have you taken a liking to that young girl?”

”How is that possible?”

”Then why did you give her a gift?”

”It’s a return gift. Otherwise, I wouldn’t feel at ease accepting this apology gift.”

Shi Xiaoya’s eyes lit up, ”Good stuff?”

Han Jingyang nodded slightly, ”More than just good stuff, it’s excellent stuff. Three small cups, and two of them have the potential to become dharma instruments. You tell me, is it too much to return a trivial little gift?”

”Not too much, not too much. Hubby, hurry up and perform Consecration to see. If it really is good stuff, hee hee, I will personally go to their home to help you present the betrothal gifts and take a concubine. I am not a woman who likes to be jealous.”

”...”

Han Jingyang was speechless.

Liu Jing, who was on the side, rolled her eyes directly. What happened to their defensive alliance? She even said something like taking a concubine.

Han Jingyang carefully studied the three cups, then handed one of the Daoguang-era blue-and-white dragon-pattern press-hand cups to Shi Xiaoya, ”You handle this one.”

”What’s wrong? A fake?”

”No, it’s authentic.”

”How much is it worth?”

”Tens of thousands.”

Shi Xiaoya carefully placed the cup into another display case. That case contained antiques that were valuable but lacked the potential for Consecration. If someone bought them, she would sell them; if no one bought them, she would sell them in bulk at a low price to others.

The current Jiguang Zhai no longer did antique business.

Instead, it operated under the signboard of an antique shop, dealing in Feng Shui props and metaphysics consulting.

It was a typical case of selling dog meat while hanging a sheep’s head.

Of course, no one could criticize him, because the Feng Shui props he sold were also antique items or valuable new items.

Han Jingyang directly appraised the remaining two small cups.

Huh, more surprises?

This Wang Anzhong really has some tricks up his sleeve.

That Wang Xiaobin, who brought Wang Anzhong into the trade, has even more tricks; no wonder he could get his hands on dharma instruments.

After handling the matters at Xipo Village, I must go to Wang Anzhong’s home again; perhaps there will be unexpected gains.

I truly underestimated these street stall vendors before.

In the future, I must make more friends with such people; who knows when there might be an unexpected joy.
