Beauty Chairwoman’s Bodyguard Expert

”Well, Lin Demon, I’ve got it about this.”

Lu Tianxing did not dwell on this topic but chose to change the subject: ”By the way, Lin Demon, besides this, is there anything else happening in Qingtian Alliance?”

”Yes!”

Lin Yafei immediately said: ”Tianxing, do you remember Chen Changwu?”

”Of course, the hierarch of Qingtian Alliance, a puppet supported by Tang Qingyun. Why, what happened?”

”Chen Changwu has been acting strange these past couple of days.”

Lin Yafei glanced at Lu Tianxing and slowly began: ”Since Qingtian Alliance started harassing attacks on Yama Palace, I have been secretly investigating. I discovered that these past two days, Chen Changwu, as the hierarch of Qingtian Alliance, seems particularly odd.”

”Although Chen Changwu didn’t appear often before, he would still visit Qingtian Alliance headquarters occasionally. But these past two days, Chen Changwu has stayed in his villa without leaving, and according to my spy, even within the villa, he is always cloaked in a black robe, so no one can see his face.”

Saying this, Lin Yafei frowned deeper, her face showing a trace of confusion: ”Moreover, there’s something even more important. Since Chen Changwu returned, every night, there are beast-like roars coming from his residence. What’s more startling is that early the next morning, someone secretly carries out an object covered by a white cloth from his room.”

”And this object under the white cloth is a corpse, a dried corpse with all its blood drained. On the neck of these corpses, there’s a clear bite mark, as if someone bit through their throat and completely sucked out their blood.”

”What.”

Bai Zhiqing, who had been listening to Lin Yafei, couldn’t help but show a hint of horror on her face. The thought of someone draining another person’s entire blood is terrifying and horrifying since this is reality, not a movie.

Upon hearing Lin Yafei’s words, Lu Tianxing’s eyebrows couldn’t help but knit together. In this world, there are sinister techniques that absorb others’ blood for cultivation. Still, those techniques typically use True Qi to refine a person’s blood into essence for consumption. Such cultivation techniques are not unheard of. But what Lin Yafei describes is the victims had their throats bitten and blood sucked out, something not done by someone practicing sinister techniques but akin to Western legends of vampires.

”Lin Demon, are you sure these people were drained of blood to death?”

Lu Tianxing felt the need for clarification, as this would require reassessing the strength of Qingtian Alliance if true.

”Indeed.”

Lin Yafei nodded and said, ”I also didn’t believe it at first, but after bribing the handlers of the corpses and inspecting them, it’s clear these people were bitten at the throat and then drained of blood.”

Hearing this response again, Lu Tianxing’s frown deepened, with countless thoughts racing through his mind, trying to guess what exactly was occurring.

Suddenly, Lu Tianxing’s pupils contracted sharply, and a look of disbelief appeared on his face: ”Could it be that? It can’t be! This secret technique was rumored to have disappeared over a hundred years ago. How could it reappear? This is impossible; it can’t be!”

”Tianxing, what can’t be? Did something occur to you?” Bai Zhiqing couldn’t help but ask upon hearing Lu Tianxing’s quiet muttering.

Although Lin Yafei didn’t speak, her beautiful eyes couldn’t help but fall on Lu Tianxing, waiting for his answer.

Seeing both women focusing their attention on him, Lu Tianxing shrugged off the suspense and directly said, ”If my guess is correct, and these bodies’ blood was drained by Chen Changwu, then Chen Changwu was likely turned into a Gu Poison Man.”

”Gu Poison Man?”

Bai Zhiqing and Lin Yafei both displayed confused expressions upon hearing Lu Tianxing’s words; they had never heard of such a thing.

”Exactly, a Gu Poison Man.”

Lu Tianxing nodded and slowly explained, ”This is something I read in my grandfather’s study. A Gu Poison Man is a being crafted using a special method indigenous to the Miao border. Actually, calling it a person is inaccurate; it’s more of a living undead.”

Saying this, Lu Tianxing took a deep breath before continuing: ”This is something I found in my grandfather’s study. It’s said that Gu Poison Men are created by having a living person together with a Gu worm and the most poisonous creatures on Earth. Before this, the person undergoes a secret technique to withstand the poison, allowing the Gu worm, living person, and toxic creatures to fight in a sealed environment. If the person survives to the end, they become a Gu Poison Man.”

Upon hearing this, Bai Zhiqing trembled uncontrollably. Although Lu Tianxing spoke calmly without many words, she could imagine how cruel and painful it must be. Surviving that ordeal must be incredibly difficult.

Lin Yafei, upon hearing Lu Tianqing’s words, showed no change of expression, although this was expected.

Lin Yafei, being a martial artist herself, has witnessed far more cruelty than Bai Zhiqing. After all, before meeting Lu Tianxing, Bai Zhiqing was just a company chairman, and the darkness she saw was confined to the business world, incomparable to the true darkness of this world.

”Little man, I still have a question. Since it’s so hard to craft a Gu Poison Man, why would they choose to do so? Aren’t they afraid of failure?” Lin Yafei asked curiously, looking at Lu Tianxing.

”Failure?”

Upon hearing Lin Yafei’s words, Lu Tianxing chuckled and replied, ”There is no failure. When humans, toxic creatures, and Gu worms battle, there’s no failure. If the human survives, they’re a Gu Poison Man. If the Gu worm survives, it’s the strongest Gu worm. If the toxic creature survives, it’s one of the world’s most deadly creatures. So they never truly fail; even if they can’t create a Gu Poison Man, they’ll gain something else.”

Upon hearing Lu Tianxing’s explanation, Lin Yafei nodded thoughtfully and said, ”Little man, what’s so terrifying about a Gu Poison Man? Why do you call it a living undead?”
