Beauty Chairwoman’s Bodyguard Expert

At this moment, the Huang Family’s living room was completely empty, without a single servant in sight. On the coffee table sat a pot of steaming hot tea—clearly, after learning that Lu Tianxing was coming, Huang Zhengde had specially asked someone to brew it. Beside the teapot, there was also a Go endgame laid out, black and white stones facing off against each other on the board.

”Mr. Lu, have a seat.” After walking into the living room, Huang Zhengde turned around, looked at Lu Tianxing, and said.

Hearing this, Lu Tianxing didn’t stand on ceremony at all and plopped straight down onto the sofa.

Huang Zhengde, on the other hand, sat down opposite Lu Tianxing.

Lu Tianxing glanced at the Go board on the coffee table and said with a faint smile, ”Mr. Huang, you really are in a refined mood.”

”Mr. Lu, I’m afraid I’ve made you laugh. I’m old now, unlike you young people who have plenty of hobbies. We old folks can only stay at home and play a bit of Go to kill time.”

Looking at Lu Tianxing, Huang Zhengde said, ”Mr. Lu, there’s still plenty of time anyway. Why don’t we play a game? And at noon today, you don’t have to leave—how about staying to have lunch here with our Huang Family?”

”Mr. Huang, wouldn’t that be troubling you too much?”

”Not at all, not at all. Having Mr. Lu stay and eat with our Huang Family is absolutely our honor.”

With an expression full of honor, Huang Zhengde then turned to Huang Yuanzheng, who had just stepped through the door, and said, ”Yuanzheng, go and tell the kitchen that we have an honored guest at noon today. They must bring out their best skills and properly treat our distinguished guest.”

Huang Yuanzheng, who had just been about to step into the living room with one foot, froze for a moment when he heard this. Then he quickly came back to his senses and said, ”Dad, I understand. I’ll go arrange it right away.”

With that, without the slightest hesitation, Huang Yuanzheng turned around and left the living room.

”Mr. Lu, let’s play.” Once Huang Yuanzheng had left, Huang Zhengde spoke directly.

”Alright.”

Lu Tianxing nodded slightly.

The two of them, Huang Zhengde and Lu Tianxing, tidied up the stones on the table and then began their game of Go.

Playing Go is probably the oldest and most mysterious pastime in this world. The tiny black and white stones look unremarkable, yet contain infinite subtleties. The black and white stones on the board are like two armies locked in battle, charging and clashing, murderous intent soaring to the heavens. What you need to do is calculate at every turn and advance step by step, only then can you win; make even one misstep, and you may fall into an abyss with no burial ground.

This is why people say life is like a game of Go, and Go is like life. In truth, life is like these black and white stones on the board—you must proceed cautiously with every step. You cannot make a single wrong move, or what awaits you is destruction.

Holding the white stones, Lu Tianxing wore a faint, unreadable smile from beginning to end, taking his time as he played against Huang Zhengde.

After all, Huang Zhengde was the previous Family Head of the Huang Family. He had long grown accustomed to scheming and advancing one step at a time, only acting when he was fully sure. On the board, he was the same: every move was made with extreme care, not daring to take any risks.

Huang Zhengde knew very clearly that life is like a game of Go—one careless move and you might end up dead with no place to be buried. So he played with great caution.

By contrast, Lu Tianxing didn’t seem to care in the slightest. He placed his stones casually, without the least bit of hesitation.

In just the blink of an eye, the black and white stones on the board had already begun clashing fiercely.

Lu Tianxing’s style of play was much like his way of doing things: he took an unconventional path, completely unpredictable. Yet, more often than not, he would suddenly produce a killing move out of nowhere. Huang Zhengde, on the other hand, was steady and methodical, advancing step by step with a watertight defense. No matter how ferocious Lu Tianxing’s attacks were, he remained unmoved, like a turtle in its shell, curling up and ignoring everything you threw at him, embodying the attitude of ”let him rage as he will, a breeze still brushes the hill.”

But if you relaxed your guard because of that, then the very next second you might be met with a stormy onslaught.

Rather than calling this a game of Go, it was better described as a clash of minds.

”Pa!”

Lu Tianxing dropped a white stone onto the board, and the previously evenly matched black and white positions suddenly shifted. The white stones surged with momentum, firmly seizing several extremely critical key points, just like controlling a few vital strongholds in a battle between two armies, instantly placing themselves in an invincible position, to the point they could launch an all-out offensive and completely crush the black stones.

In such a position, even someone with only a modest understanding of Go would know that once the white stones had reached this point, they were basically unassailable. As long as they were a bit careful, victory was already in their grasp.

Because even if all the remaining vacant points were filled by black stones, at most they would only manage to be on par with white, resulting in a draw. Huang Zhengde’s brows were already furrowed tightly. He had never encountered this kind of unconventional style that Lu Tianxing used. You could call it unorthodox, and yet it also seemed chaotic and without pattern, making it impossible to guess what he would do next, where he would place his stone, or from what angle a sudden fatal blow would come. You were sure his attack would be launched from one side, yet in the blink of an eye it appeared from somewhere else, leaving you utterly unable to defend.

”I’ve lost.”

After a long silence, Huang Zhengde finally set down the stone in his hand with resignation. He realized that he had lost, and lost completely. Lu Tianxing already held the advantage in the overall situation. No matter how hard he tried, he had no way to break through the great net Lu Tianxing had laid. Any further struggle would be nothing but the dying thrash of a trapped beast—futile effort.

Hearing Huang Zheng’s words, Lu Tianxing tossed the stone in his hand back into the bowl and said with a smile, ”Mr. Huang, you’re too polite. It was just a fluke. If you had really gotten serious, I’m afraid I would have lost long ago.”

After hearing this, Huang Zhengde shook his head slightly and said, ”Mr. Lu, you don’t need to comfort an old man like me. Losing is losing. This old man can still afford to lose.”

Lu Tianxing chuckled softly and did not dwell on this topic. Instead, he got straight to the point and said, ”Mr. Huang, I don’t know what you wanted to talk to me about when you invited me over today?”

Hearing this, Huang Zhengde took a deep breath, looked at Lu Tianxing, and said, ”Mr. Lu, this time I mainly wanted to thank you. Thank you for saving the Huang Family. If it hadn’t been for your help, the Huang Family would have long since been reduced to ashes. Here, this old man owes you his gratitude for stepping in.”

As he spoke, Huang Zhengde rose directly from the sofa and gave Lu Tianxing a slight bow.

Lu Tianxing stood there without moving, accepting Huang Zhengde’s bow as a matter of course.
