Beauty Chairwoman’s Bodyguard Expert

Chapter 1721: Chapter 1714: What a Pity

Lu Tianxing and Lan Xin were bantering as they stepped into the elevator, taking it all the way to the door of Lan Xin’s house. After taking a deep breath, Lan Xin finally took out the key and entered.

Following Lan Xin inside, Lu Tianxing first saw Li Shuyue and Lan Chenghai sitting on the sofa. Compared to the last time they met, Lan Xin’s father, Lan Chenghai, looked much thinner, his cheeks sunken, with heavy dark circles and an expression of exhaustion, obviously due to poor rest.

”Dad, I’m back.”

Lan Xin greeted Li Shuyue and Lan Chenghai.

Upon hearing Lan Xin’s voice, Lan Chenghai and Li Shuyue instinctively looked up, and upon seeing Lu Tianxing behind Lan Xin, their expressions showed slight surprise, clearly not expecting Lan Xin to bring Lu Tianxing this time.

Feeling the gaze of Lan Xin’s parents, Lu Tianxing couldn’t help but smile internally, but it didn’t show on his face. He stepped forward, handing over the gift in his hand. ”Good evening, Uncle, Aunt. I’ve come specifically to apologize this time. I deceived you last time, and I hope you won’t hold it against me. Also, I heard from Lan Xin that you’ve encountered some small troubles, so I’ve come specially today to help resolve them and also to apologize to you both.”

As the saying goes, no one hits a smiling face. Hearing Lu Tianxing’s humble demeanor, Lan Chenghai’s expression softened slightly. He took a deep breath and said, ”Mr. Lu, you’re too kind. Since you’re here, stay for dinner.”

”Since Uncle has invited me, I won’t refuse.”

Lu Tianxing nodded and followed Lan Chenghai toward the dining room. Li Shuyue gave Lan Xin an annoyed look but said nothing.

Lan Xin stuck out her tongue and followed Li Shuyue into the dining room.

”Uncle, I’m sorry about last time. I...,” Lu Tianxing said, looking at Lan Chenghai.

But before he could finish speaking, Lan Chenghai interrupted, ”Mr. Lu, you don’t need to talk about this matter anymore. It has nothing to do with you; we pushed too hard. Also, we should thank you. If it weren’t for you revealing Wei Xunfang and her son’s true nature, Lan Xin might have married into their family and had a miserable life. She could have resented us forever. Now, I’ve come to realize that children have their own blessings; let her be.”

With that, Lan Chenghai glanced at Lu Tianxing and sighed, ”Mr. Lu, I think you might have heard about the troubles I’ve encountered. Though they’re not related to me, they’ve landed on my head. I don’t care if my position is stable, but I hope you can help me this time, find those people and make them return the money they scammed, giving it back to the victims.”

Upon hearing Lan Chenghai’s words, Lu Tianxing nodded and said, ”Uncle, no worries, this is a trivial matter. As long as the money hasn’t been spent, no matter where it has been transferred, I can help you recover it.”

”Are you so sure? If it’s transferred abroad, it’s nearly impossible to retrieve.”

At this point, Lan Chenghai sighed deeply. He actually understood that this group of scammers could deceive everyone—they are professionals. It’s impossible for them to keep the money in China; it’s probably already transferred abroad. But he dared not think so, holding out hope that maybe some of it hadn’t been transferred yet.

”Haha, Uncle, this problem might be insurmountable for others—even if they catch the people, they might not recover the money. But for me, even if the money is transferred abroad, it’s a small issue. Besides, Uncle, after Lan Xin told me about this, I’ve already initiated an investigation. I believe it won’t be long before we receive news.”

Seeing Lu Tianxing’s confident demeanor, Lan Chenghai hesitated slightly but didn’t argue against his words. Though he wasn’t fully aware of Lu Tianxing’s true identity, he understood a bit. He even knew that Lu Tianxing was likely the real overlord of Modu’s Underworld, not the apparent Rose.

Moreover, although he’s had limited interactions with Lu Tianxing, he’s discerning enough. When Lu Tianxing speaks, there’s a genuine confidence in his words—a sense of assurance.

Taking a deep breath, Lan Chenghai said to Lu Tianxing, ”Regardless of the outcome, I have to thank you. Lan Xin, get that bottle of Maotai I’ve been saving from the liquor cabinet. Tonight, I want to have a drink with Mr. Lu.”

”Okay.”

Lan Xin nodded without saying anything, turning and walking toward the cabinet.

”Mr. Lu...”

At this moment, Li Shuyue suddenly spoke, but before she could finish, Lu Tianxing quickly interrupted, ”Oh, Uncle and Aunt, please don’t call me Mr. Lu. Lan Xin and I are friends, and I’m your junior. Just call me Tianxing.”

”Alright! Tianxing, do you really have a solution for this matter?”

Li Shuyue looked Lu Tianxing up and down, sighing softly in her heart. If only Lu Tianxing weren’t married, he would be the perfect son-in-law, what a pity!

”Aunt, rest assured! Since I’ve said it, I’ll certainly resolve this matter completely, ensuring every penny scammed will be retrieved.”

Just then, Lan Xin returned with the Maotai bottle, placing it on the table and opening it, releasing a rich aroma.

Lan Xin poured a glass for both Lu Tianxing and Lan Chenghai.

Lan Chenghai raised his glass and said to Lu Tianxing, ”Come, Tianxing, let’s have a drink.”

”Sure.”

Lu Tianxing also raised his glass. The two lightly clinked their glasses and drank the contents.

At this point, Li Shuyue asked Lu Tianxing, ”Tianxing, I read in the newspaper you and Bai’s Group’s chairman, Bai Zhiqing, are married. Is that true?”

Upon hearing this, Lu Tianxing was taken aback and looked at Li Shuyue with a strange expression. Where did this come from?

Lan Xin’s face turned red as she looked at Li Shuyue and said, ”Mom, why are you asking this? Whether he’s married or not, it’s none of your business.”

”You brat, shut up. It’s none of your business.”

Li Shuyue glared at Lan Xin, then said to Lu Tianxing, ”Tianxing, don’t mind me, Aunt was just casually asking, no other intention.”

Lu Tianxing smiled wryly and said, ”Aunt, I am indeed married, and we’ve already registered, just haven’t had the banquet yet.”

”Oh.”

Upon hearing Lu Tianxing’s response, Li Shuyue sighed lightly, mumbling to herself, ”Such a pity. If he weren’t married, there might have been a chance.”

Even though Li Shuyue’s mumble was quiet, to Lu Tianxing’s martial artist ears, it was as loud as thunder. Cold sweat broke out immediately; he realized that Lan Xin’s mom was considering going after Bai Zhiqing’s man—a bit too fierce.

”Mom...”

Lan Xin’s cheeks were flushed with embarrassment, obviously having heard Li Shuyue’s remarks.
