I'm Trapped in the Block

Chapter 417: Chapter 414: Sourceless Hostility

”It’s quite special, isn’t it?”

”Yes,” Mo Ling replied, still not fully recovered from his shock.

”Can you make anything of it?” the balloon pressed.

”I can’t,” Mo Ling answered honestly.

In his perception, the ball of thread was just a tangled mess of information, completely meaningless.

”That’s alright. Let me explain...”

”First, direction. This mass of hostility has no source and no target. It connects head to tail, as you can see.”

”Second, time. The thread is so thin, which means the time involved is very long—you could even consider it ’infinite.’ It will never arrive.”

”Then there’s how tangled it is. It’s a complete mess, and the force of the tangles is immense, which indicates the intensity of the hostility is very high.”

”Higher than the intensity of a star?” Mo Ling asked, confused.

”There’s no comparison. It’s even higher than a black hole’s. If you were the target of this hostility, the terrifying torrent would completely shatter your consciousness, leaving you unable to think ever again.”

Hearing the balloon’s words, Mo Ling glanced worriedly at the ball of thread again.

He never would have thought that this small-looking ball of thread could contain such terrifying hostility.

”Of course, this is just a conclusion based on my experience. It’s too unique for me to give a precise interpretation,” the balloon said with a hint of resignation.

”What do you think it is?” Mo Ling knew the balloon must have some theories.

The balloon thought for a moment before answering seriously, ”Perhaps it’s a kind of hostility capable of destroying the world.”

”It has no source, which means the thing that will destroy the world isn’t here. Or, the source is the world itself, which is why the ball of thread connects head to tail.”

”Everything in existence requires a connection via a thread of hostility. The world itself is no exception, so this thread was hidden here.”

”When the hostility arrives, the world will self-destruct.”

As the balloon spoke, it began to sound less confident.

”But why would the world want to destroy itself?”

In truth, the balloon already had a rough theory, but it had no way to verify it, nor could it figure out the hostility’s ”motive.”

But as Mo Ling listened to the balloon, he had a flash of insight.

’Is this some kind of countdown to the world’s destruction? When the time is up, the world will destroy itself.’

If Mo Ling were a native of this world, he would share the balloon’s confusion.

But he understood that this world had a ”purpose.”

To simulate a god—that was the meaning of this world’s existence.

Once the god appeared, the world would no longer have any value.

’Could it be that the time this hostility arrives is when the god will appear?’

If he treated this as a world simulated by the Sea of Creation, everything made sense:

The Sea of Creation needed a god, so it created a world to act as a ”petri dish” to simulate the god’s birth.

When the god fully emerged, the ”petri dish” would become useless. The Sea of Creation would then destroy the world, allowing the god to enter reality and fulfill the wishes of the races that prayed for one.

This entire process was automated.

And this ball of thread was the world’s self-destruct ”timing mechanism.”

However, not even the Sea of Creation had anticipated that the balloon would discover this thread hidden in the center of a black hole.

The balloon, unaware of the inside story, naturally couldn’t understand why the world would self-destruct and was thus trapped in endless confusion.

...

After connecting all the dots, Mo Ling had an epiphany.

’A bacterium in a petri dish has discovered the dish’s timed sterilization device.’

Something so absurd had actually happened.

And that bacterium was right beside him at this very moment.

”I think I can clear up your confusion.”

After a long hesitation, Mo Ling decided to tell the balloon everything.

”The answer might be harsh. Are you prepared to bear it?”

”Of course,” the balloon replied decisively. ”What is the answer?”

”It’s about the truth of this world...”

Mo Ling slowly began to explain about the Sea of Creation, telling the balloon everything about how this world operated without reservation.

After hearing it all, the balloon fell silent.

”Are you okay?” Mo Ling was a little worried it wouldn’t be able to accept it.

”I’m fine. I just need to sort out my thoughts.”

To Mo Ling’s great surprise, the balloon showed no emotional fluctuation and calmly accepted everything he had said.

”Aren’t you upset?” Mo Ling asked curiously.

”Upset about what?”

”This whole world is a simulation. The answers you’ve been seeking are ultimately just an illusion...” Mo Ling trailed off, not continuing. He understood this was a kind of absolute despair, and he didn’t want to affect the balloon’s mood any further.

But the balloon maintained its nonchalant attitude, and even seemed a little happy.

”But I learned the truth, didn’t I?”

”You don’t need to worry about me. Things like this have happened to me many times.”

”In my infancy, I thought the coast was the whole world. The shells, crabs, and waves were my brothers. I couldn’t see the distant Volcano, nor the vast sky. Back then, my world was also ’false.’”

”Later, as my mind matured, my world grew larger, encompassing the sea and the Volcano.”

”Then, I saw the threads that connected the world, saw the ’truth’ behind things. It turned out the threads had already planned everything; all things merely moved according to a predetermined hostility, repeating in a cycle.”

”Just when I thought the world was nothing but stagnant water, the active thoughts within living beings shattered my notions...”

”At every stage, I have tried to understand the world’s truth, constantly refuting my past self, never stopping.”

”The world has never been about true or false. Whatever your gaze falls upon, that is reality.”

”I should be happy now. I’ve seen even more of reality.”

”Thank you,” the balloon said sincerely. There was no trace of dejection in its tone; instead, it was filled with yearning.

Mo Ling was stunned. He had underestimated the balloon’s level of understanding.

”So, you’re from the outside?” the balloon asked.

”Yes.”

”Are you also here looking for a god? In my memory, there is no god in this world.”

Hearing the balloon’s question, Mo Ling didn’t know how to respond.

He had just been inexplicably pulled in by the Sea of Creation.

This was already the second time, and Mo Ling still didn’t know the Sea of Creation’s purpose.

”If finding the god will let me leave this world, then I’m more than willing.”

”Is that so? I happen to have a way to make the god appear,” the balloon said casually.

”Really?” Mo Ling found it hard to believe.

’The balloon can even do something like create a god?’

”Really. And it’s very simple...”
