I'm Trapped in the Block

Chapter 406: Chapter 403: Someone Wants to Harm Me

’Someone wants to harm me?’

When Mo Ling peeked out from the Block again, he found that everything around him had changed. The clear, crystalline Crystal Stones and glass-like creatures from before were all gone. ℯℯ𝘭.

Thick smoke billowed around him, filling the air with the stench of sulfur.

The ground was no longer a smooth, reflective surface, but rugged volcanic rock. In some places, streams of scorching hot lava flowed.

’It’s happening again...’ Just like before, Mo Ling had arrived in another strange place.

He quickly began to examine his own body. As he expected, he had become a peculiar-looking creature, like a yellow sponge.

The body’s original owner had apparently been floating in the volcanic ash, feeding on its nutrients. It seemed to be a harmless creature.

Just as Mo Ling was studying the creature’s structure, a precise premonition suddenly arose in his mind: ’Someone wants to harm me. They are preparing a piercing attack against me right now. If I don’t dodge, it will hit my upper half in ten seconds and tear my upper body apart.’

Compared to the ”paranoia” from before, the hostility Mo Ling felt this time was incredibly precise. The time, direction, position, and attack method were all included; he could even visualize the attack in his mind.

This time, Mo Ling couldn’t hide in the Block again. He could only wriggle his sponge-like body and slowly float to another spot.

Ten seconds later, the lava on the ground suddenly erupted with a BANG. A sharp piece of rock, heated unevenly, shot up from the ground and flew swiftly past the spot where Mo Ling had just been.

If Mo Ling hadn’t moved out of the way beforehand, that rock would have pierced through his body, dealing an extremely fatal blow.

’Hostility can be used like this?’

Mo Ling watched the rock fly off to some unknown destination, a sense of astonishment in his heart.

’I can even feel hostility from lava?’

’No, wait. Lava can actually *have* hostility?’

Mo Ling suddenly realized that this hostility didn’t seem to come just from living creatures, but from other things as well.

’This is hostility from the world itself.’

However, even after dodging the flying rock, the feeling of being targeted didn’t fade. He sensed a new hostility:

’Someone wants to harm me. They are preparing an impact-type attack that will hit the center of my body in five seconds.’

’Five seconds?’ Mo Ling was worried if he could dodge this attack in such a short amount of time.

He quickly moved in another direction, his sponge-like body twisting and turning in the air as he changed his position.

But even though he had changed his position, the sense of hostility didn’t disappear:

’Someone wants to harm me. They are preparing an impact-type attack that will hit the center of my body in three seconds.’

’Why didn’t it disappear?’ Mo Ling had already moved a fair distance, but the hostility hadn’t vanished. In fact, the time had gotten shorter.

’There’s no time to dodge.’

Mo Ling braced himself for defense, facing the direction indicated by the hostility.

Three seconds later, a creature that looked like a flying insect plunged right into the center of Mo Ling’s body and immediately began to gnaw on him.

’No wonder the hostility didn’t disappear and I couldn’t dodge it. This attack came from a living creature, so it adjusted its trajectory.’

Mo Ling quickly understood everything.

The small flying insect gnawed relentlessly inside his sponge body, but Mo Ling had already figured out a way to deal with it.

He lured the insect into a false pore in the sponge, then quickly contracted, squeezing the insect into a paste.

’The hostility wasn’t that strong this time, which means the enemy isn’t very powerful...’

Mo Ling suddenly realized that the intensity of the hostility could also indicate the enemy’s strength.

The hostility generated by the weak flying insect wasn’t even as strong as that from the flying rock.

Not only that, but he could also estimate the attack’s power by the ”degree of injury” mentioned in the premonition.

Mo Ling was slowly grasping how to use this hostility detection.

After the flying insect was destroyed by Mo Ling, it slowly merged into his sponge body.

Immediately after, Mo Ling felt a strange sense of comfort.

It felt as if something was pouring into his body, like drinking a mouthful of sweet spring water.

Then, Mo Ling discovered that his soft, sponge-like body could now change shape at will.

With a single thought, the sponge rapidly contracted and transformed into the shape of the small flying insect from just now.

However, although the form had changed, its surface was still the pockmarked texture of a sponge, giving it a very strange appearance.

Still, with wings, moving around would definitely be much faster than wriggling.

So, Mo Ling didn’t change back. He maintained the insect form and flew off into the distance.

With the insect’s sharper senses, Mo Ling could finally get a clear look at his surroundings.

He seemed to be in a cluster of volcanoes. The massive volcanoes were so tall their peaks were out of sight, their high craters piercing the gray clouds.

Scorching lava flowed down the mountainsides and into a great sea at the volcanoes’ base.

The meeting of hot and cold generated billowing smoke. The area was covered in pockmarked volcanic rock, which formed a pitch-black plain crisscrossed by countless streams of still-cooling lava.

Deep rumbles echoed from the surrounding volcanoes from time to time, as if some great beast were roaring within them.

Through the insect’s eyes, the surroundings looked even more terrifying, like a scene from the apocalypse.

Mo Ling’s hostility detection was also going haywire with warnings.

’Someone wants to harm me... Someone wants to harm me...’

He narrowly dodged erupting lava and then falling debris from the sky. Just as he found a relatively safe spot, high-temperature steam began to rise from the ground...

Countless sources of hostility enveloped Mo Ling. He could only dodge ceaselessly, neutralizing them one by one.

At first, this constant stream of hostility left Mo Ling overwhelmed, but he gradually found a way to deal with it:

’Sort them by time.’

Dodge the ones with the shortest timers first, then the ones with longer timers.

Sometimes, he could even dodge many threats at the same time.

Through this continuous process of dodging, Mo Ling gradually adapted to the state of constant hostility, becoming more and more adept.

Before long, he could already explore this volcanic land while simultaneously dodging danger.

Falling debris, erupting steam, splashing lava... The little flying insect easily bypassed these dangers as it flew into the distance, finally stopping near a red lizard.

’Someone wants to harm me. They are preparing a constricting attack against me. In ten seconds, it will hit my body and completely crush it...’

Mo Ling had never felt such intense hostility before, and it made him freeze in place.

At that moment, the lizard was staring menacingly at the small flying insect in the air, a low hiss rumbling in its throat...
