Chapter 17: Chapter 16: The Shaking Cycle

After explaining his plan to the young lady again, Mo Ling approached the cage.

He didn’t know if his plan would succeed, but he had to try.

Selecting the entire cage, Mo Ling activated his teleportation. The Dream Qilin vanished from sight in an instant.

Mo Ling quickly entered the Kimchi Space.

By now, the Dream Qilin had stopped moving.

All the color on its body had dimmed. The light emanating from it vanished, and its colors began to fade from the outside in.

Its dazzling hide slowly faded to black, the process astonishingly fast.

The Dream Qilin grew darker and darker until, like the black horn, it became an absolute black.

Mo Ling blinked, and the cage was empty.

He quickly returned to the outside world and told Li Luo what had happened.

”We can wake up now.”

Li Luo nodded.

...

Mo Ling opened his eyes to the same familiar metal walls.

He habitually started to stand up but stopped just before hitting his head.

His legs were sore, so he quickly stretched.

’How much time has passed?’

Looking outside, he saw Li Luo checking the time.

Ten minutes.

While they were in the dream, only ten minutes had passed in the outside world.

Although he had long known that time felt accelerated in the dream, this ”a day in heaven is a year on earth” level of distortion still left Mo Ling in a daze.

Li Luo turned her head, apparently looking for someone to talk to.

But when she saw a lifeless metal Block instead of a person, she froze.

Mo Ling tossed a tin can outside.

The clang of metal instantly snapped the young lady back to her senses.

’There are more important things to do.’

Listening closely, he could hear the dull vibrations had resumed.

Mo Ling looked at the black horn inside the Block.

The black horn was still there, which meant something else had drawn the attention of the Vibrating Beasts.

He teleported the black horn to the ground in front of Li Luo.

This time, the torrent of Vibrating Beasts didn’t come surging back. Judging by the receding sounds, they seemed to be moving toward the other side of the valley.

Li Luo picked up the black horn, apparently also listening intently to the sounds in the valley.

After confirming this, she placed the black horn back on the Block, and Mo Ling then retrieved it.

At this point, no words were needed; they both knew what to do.

Li Luo got into her vehicle and set off in the direction the Vibrating Beasts were moving.

Judging by the direction, the Dream Qilin that had manifested in reality was not in the same place as the previously discovered black horn.

Mo Ling was a little worried.

’If my guess is right, where did it end up?’

Fortunately, the vehicle hadn’t been driving for long before Li Luo found the place where the Vibrating Beasts were converging.

She took out her recording device and began to document the scene before her.

In the distance, the Vibrating Beasts were attacking their own kind as if possessed.

A sea of red Flesh Slimes surged past, sweeping up any stray Vibrating Beasts in its path.

Everything they had witnessed in the great pit while the creatures fought over the black horn was happening all over again.

Whether it was because the black horn had disappeared or because the Dream Qilin’s true body had appeared this time, the Vibrating Beasts’ reaction was even more violent than before.

The tide of Flesh Slimes grew larger and larger, and soon, an even stranger transformation began.

The Vibrating Beasts swept into the tide abandoned their bodies, broke free from their metallic shells, and joined the wave.

To avoid being submerged, they all ultimately chose to become Flesh Slimes.

Soon, only the empty shells of the Vibrating Beasts within the tide remained, no longer struggling.

Their limbs sank, leaving behind only an even more terrifying sea of Slime.

Not only that, but the very front of the massive Slime wave began to change.

At first, the outlines of individual Slimes could still be clearly seen within the surging tide.

But slowly, the gaps between them were squeezed shut and filled in, and the once-clear outlines began to blur.

The Slimes stuck together.

Due to the constant pressure, they eventually had no room left to even bob.

Countless Slimes were compressed into their smallest possible forms.

As it reached an upward slope, the tide unexpectedly came to a halt.

The Slimes at the very front were pressed together by the relentless wave of their comrades behind them, unable to advance any further.

The constantly bobbing flesh was forcibly suppressed, rendered immobile.

Mo Ling watched, dumbfounded, through the recording device.

’This is insane!’

They had been suppressed for too long.

The Red Rope Worms continued to drive them forward.

Finally, the evolution began.

The forcibly compressed Flesh Slimes began to fuse together.

It started at the very front, then the fusion spread backward through the mass.

Soon, the borders between the Slimes vanished, and a massive, writhing creature slowly emerged.

The vibrations of all the Slimes merged into one, instantly creating a unified, rhythmic, and heavy tremor that echoed through the valley.

It was no longer stagnant but began to move forward slowly.

As if finding its own speed too slow, a tail began to grow from its rounded edge, constantly swinging to push itself forward.

Then, like a tadpole, it grew four limbs and began to crawl on the ground.

But its own unstoppable vibrations made its movements clumsy and crooked.

So it changed its method of movement.

Jumping.

With each vibration, it began to jump. After every leap, its forelimbs would degenerate slightly, transferring their strength to its hind limbs.

Soon, it was left with only two hind limbs.

But each time it landed from a jump, the immense force of gravity would cause it to fall forward and injure itself.

Thus, its increasingly powerful hind limbs were no longer satisfied with just jumping. It stood up, and its two hind limbs gradually elongated, bending into the most shock-absorbent shape possible.

One step, two steps, three...

By the ninth step, the colossal beast of flesh had transformed into its original form.

A giant Vibrating Beast was born.

Two imbalanced-looking limbs moved forward, one after the other.

The limbs plunged deep into the ground, reciprocating with the pulsing of its flesh and channeling the vibrations into the earth.

Its head was a bright red sphere. Blood continuously pooled upward into it, its color gradually deepening.

Meanwhile, the limbs below, now drained of blood, grew harder and began to take on a metallic color.

It had constantly sought a way to release its own vibrations, and this was the form it ultimately evolved.

Seeing this Vibrating Beast emerge filled Mo Ling with shock.

’So this is how Vibrating Beasts evolved.’

Mo Ling had assumed their bizarre shape was the result of random chance.

He never would have thought that from the very beginning, the Vibrating Beasts possessed an uncontrollable vibration.

No wonder the Vibrating Beasts were so sensitive to vibrations, so averse to them that they would even attack their own kind.

It was because, since the moment of their birth, these creatures had been fighting against their own innate ability.

While they gained the power of vibration, they also endured the pain that power brought.

This was the price!
