Chapter 1697: Chapter 1297: Shattering Desire

”Rage” shattered.

As Zi Yue spoke, a mesmerizing purple light reappeared in Mu Kexian’s eyes, drawing him into yet another Desire Dream...

In the Bamboo Sea, Mu Kexian, clad in the Outer Disciple’s robe, walked alongside several other disciples.

This was Mu Kexian’s first Sect task after being selected into Taishang Sect, venturing down to the Bamboo Sea in Chu Kingdom to collect Blue Jade Bamboo materials.

Normally, this task wouldn’t be difficult, but unexpectedly, they were attacked by wolf packs in the valley, plunging many disciples into peril.

With several senior brothers and sisters leading, the disciples formed a battle formation, covering each other to repel the wolf pack’s assault.

Leading the group, Senior Brother Dai slew wolves while loudly declaring, ”Hold on, everyone! I’ve sent out a rescue signal, the Sect experts stationed in the Bamboo Sea will arrive shortly!”

Moments passed in which everyone’s spirits were stable, but soon a Junior Sister, who had just broken through to Bronze Level, was the first to be clawed by a Demon Wolf, biting her arm and dragging her into the wolf pack.

”Ah... No?! I don’t want to die! Save me, Senior Brother, save me!”

Frightened screams burst from the Junior Sister, while the leading Senior Brother Dai, already guilt-ridden, bit his teeth and charged with swordsmanship into the wolf pack, fending off several Demon Wolves, barely rescuing the Junior Sister from the mouth of a Bronze High Stage Demon Wolf.

”Senior Brother Dai, th-thank you!”

The Junior Sister, still rattled, expressed her gratitude repeatedly, with a hint of fondness for Senior Brother Dai rising in her heart.

Senior Brother Dai said solemnly, ”No problem, we must hurry back...”

”Thud!”

Before he could finish, a cold, sharp claw pierced through Senior Brother Dai’s chest, carrying pieces of torn internal organs and intestines.

Senior Brother Dai’s eyes suddenly widened, he looked down at the claw breaking through his chest, filled with astonishment and disbelief.

It was the lurking head wolf of Silver Stage attacking, unfolding its Gold Splitting Claw to puncture Senior Brother Dai.

The Junior Sister in front of him was also splattered with blood, her pupils trembled and her face turned ghostly pale in an instant.

”Ah...!!” The utmost frightened Junior Sister’s legs collapsed, issuing a shrill scream.

”Boom!”

A blast rang out, the scream abruptly ceased, as the head wolf tossed aside Senior Brother Dai’s corpse, raised its claw, smashing her head like a watermelon...

”Senior Brother Dai, Junior Sister Su?!”

”No, Senior Brother Dai is dead?!”

”What?!”

As the leader, Senior Brother Dai, with Silver Middle Stage strength, was the strongest presence on the scene, yet it was totally unexpected for the head wolf to ambush him to a violent death!

The remaining disciples’ expressions drastically changed, a suffocating fear overtook their hearts.

In an instant, even the swaying Longswords and exhibited Skills were fraught with errors due to fear, one by one they were clawed, bitten, or even torn apart by the wolves...

For the first time in the task, Junior Sister Mu Kexian was among them, equally terrified.

Yet Mu Kexian kept his fear in check, resisting the wolf pack’s attack alongside many senior brothers and sisters, and because of his powerful Spirit, his performance excelled among the panicked Outer Disciples.

However...

”Ah!!”

”Don’t! Don’t kill me!”

”Senior Sister, save me... Ah!”

In mere moments, numerous disciples perished under the claws and teeth of the Bamboo Sea wolf pack.

With each disciple’s death, the purple intensity in Mu Kexian’s eyes thickened, his heart’s fear deepened...

Unaware of how much time had passed, the Sect experts who were originally supposed to arrive never did, and gradually, only Mu Kexian remained in the valley.

”Owooo, Owooo!”

The wolf pack surrounded outside, with the towering, sinister, fierce head wolf stepping out, advancing towards Mu Kexian.

At this moment, Mu Kexian’s face was ghostly pale, his eyes enveloped in deep purple light, extreme fear filled his heart.

Yet even so, Mu Kexian’s tremulous hands firmly grasped the Refined Iron Sword pointed at the approaching head wolf.

Although Mu Kexian was utterly terrified, he did not turn and run.

According to the knowledge learned within the Sect, if one shows cowardice and turns to expose a weakness, they will be instantly overpowered and bit to death by Demon Wolves.

And now, at least there was still the sharp Longsword in hand to rely on!

In addition, Mu Kexian’s subconscious seemed to understand, he absolutely must not flee out of fear...

In a flash, the head wolf was already close to Mu Kexian, opening its mouth with a low roar: ”Roar!!”

The intense bloody scent enveloped Mu Kexian with the wolf’s roar, so fear-stricken that he could barely hold the Longsword.

Before Mu Kexian could gather his thoughts, the head wolf hunched its back, leaping towards Mu Kexian!

Time seemed to slow, Mu Kexian could almost smell the overheated, rancid blood breath from the head wolf’s mouth, trembling uncontrollably with intense fear.

Yet despite this, Mu Kexian did not abandon his sword and flee, rather he gripped the Longsword tight, slashing at the head wolf.

The disparity in strength was massive, Mu Kexian was certainly not a match for the head wolf, but just as the head wolf knocked Mu Kexian’s Longsword away, ready to bite his body, a long-awaited Golden Arrow Technique struck the head wolf, pinning it away.

The Sect experts finally arrived...

Zi Yue observed Mu Kexian’s steadfast confrontation with the head wolf amidst immense fear, pondering, ”His inherent will is unexpectedly this tenacious? No wonder he could master the Path of Indifference.”
