My Sister Insisted on Swapping Marriages, and I Became a Marchioness Instead

Chapter 419: Chapter 419: Childlike Innocence

Respecting the prestige of Marquis Gu, everyone dared not look any further, only pricking up their ears to listen to the conversation between him and his wife.

Qin Yuan secretly glared at Marquis Gu, saying, ”Husband, you are so wise and powerful, saving Seventh Sister was truly amazing. Later, capturing the weaknesses of the Yelv people, changing the rules to stand invincible, is even more impressive. I think you fully deserve the name of being both wise and courageous.”

If someone else said this, Gu Jinghui wouldn’t care at all, but with these words coming from Qin Yuan, Marquis Gu started to feel a bit giddy.

”Am I really that good in your heart?”

”It’s not just in my heart; everyone can see how good you are. Otherwise, why would so many people cheer for Marquis?”

Qin Heng couldn’t help but shiver.

He got goosebumps all over from his sister and brother-in-law being so affectionate.

Sixth Master Gu kept his head down, holding the horse reins without speaking.

It was Qin Siyuan who said, ”Marquis Gu and Seventh Miss are both very brave, and with superb skills, I truly admire them.”

”Yes, yes,” Qin Heng immediately chimed in, ”Brother-in-law, can you teach me martial arts, or even horse riding would be great. The leap you did just now was truly wonderful, it’s hard to put it into words.”

Marquis Gu laughed heartily and said, ”Learning martial arts isn’t as easy as you think; the hardships are no less than studying. If you neglect your studies, I’m afraid my father-in-law will make things difficult for me. I haven’t even finished the books he gave me.”

In fact, he had only read a few pages.

Marquis Gu guiltily glanced at Qin Yuan.

Qin Yuan smiled and lowered her eyes without speaking.

Marquis Gu happily said, ”When you have time, come to the mansion to ride horses with me. If I’m not around, you can find Treasure Bead, Brother Kang, or Fuguo’er instead.”

Qin Heng sighed, ”Even without practicing martial arts, my studies are no good.”

Marquis Gu pretended not to hear, turning to the guards beside him and said, ”Soon, I will take sixteen people to the field. Those of you who usually play polo well, step up and name yourselves.”

The guards were eager to give it a try.

Amidst the contention, General Jin led a team of men and squeezed over.

”Marquis, General, Marquis, look at my Old Jin!”

Marquis Gu looked over in surprise and asked, ”How did you all get here?”

General Jin said, ”The news of Marquis playing polo at the Imperial College has already spread. Marquis doesn’t know, nowadays in the Capital City, there is a business called ’news telling.’”

”Many storytellers search everywhere for interesting anecdotes to tell people and make a living. They fear they won’t be timely and even spend money to hire idle people and beggars to gather information. Therefore, soon after you arrived here, we all knew.”

Patting his sturdy chest, he continued, ”I changed clothes and called the brothers, and we all came.”

”Yes, all the brothers are here. If Marquis is going to the field, don’t forget us. We play polo whenever we have free time in the barracks, are we afraid of losing to these opponents?”

The group of army men brought by General Jin looked fiercely eager to fight.

Their aura and fierceness were incomparable to the Marquis Mansion’s guards.

It was honed from countless battles on the battlefield.

Qin Heng couldn’t stop watching with wide eyes, lost in thought.

Marquis Gu smiled and said, ”With you here, do I need to go far? You go first, if you come off the field and the numbers are insufficient, the guards from the Marquis Mansion will fill in.”

General Jin proudly glanced at the guards of the Marquis Mansion and laughed, ”We’ll strive not to let them get on the field. Haha.”

The shaggy beard on his face trembled with laughter.

Everyone laughed along.

On the field.

The sound of three gongs.

The women’s polo match began.

Everyone looked towards the field.

General Jin suddenly sighed, ”My goodness, this field is so small. Not that I’m saying, but the goal is too simple. Later, can more than thirty people run on it?”

The fields in their military camp are much larger than this.

The goal is one zhang tall and one horse wide.

The goal is beautifully designed, carved with intricate lotus flowers.

The Martial Arts Hall field at the Imperial College is much smaller. The goal is very simple, without carvings, just made in the style of the Huabiao on both sides, painted red.

Because of frequent use, much of the paint was chipped, making it quite mottled.

Sixth Master Gu wanted to speak but didn’t interact much with these people usually, so after pondering for a while, he still didn’t open his mouth.

But Qin Heng, young and curious about the military men, immediately joined in, ”They can run. This goal is small, and it’s not placed closely either.”

Before General Jin could speak, Qin Heng added, ”Brother-in-law said if we can’t decide the winner against the Yelv Clan, we’ll have a tiebreaker. I think it might be better to have a three or four-person team tiebreaker, reducing the field by half.”

General Jin thought for a moment and said, ”Okay, I think it’s possible.”

Qin Heng was very pleased to hear this, increasingly feeling that this big, strong man was much more pleasing to the eye than the equally strong and black Yelv Guza.

On the field, Gu Baoshu and others were still in a close contest with the Yelv team.

The women of Daxing were weaker and reacted slower when running and chasing compared to the Yelv women.

But the new rules also restricted the Yelv women.

Till the agreed time ended, neither side scored again.

The referee struck the gong, announcing the end of the match. As of now, Daxing was trailing slightly.

Gu Baoshu threw the mallet on the ground in frustration, shouting, ”Our Daxing will never lose.”

The red-headband whistled, shouting, ”Our Yelv Clan will never lose either.”

The two glared at each other with hostility, and their horses snorted hot air, as if they were about to fight immediately.

Sixth Master Gu was quite angry, ”What is Baoshu doing again, not coming off the field quickly. Does she want the referee to rule her as impolite?”

Qin Siyuan smiled and said, ”Seventh Miss has a pure heart, that’s why she acts like this.”

Sixth Master Gu said with deep meaning, ”If she knows you praise her like this, who knows how happy she’ll be.”

Qin Yuan immediately said, ”Is Marquis going to hurry and count the people to replace Little Sister Baozhu? If this keeps going, it might not be good.”

Sixth Master Gu immediately said, ”Yes, yes, Third Brother, don’t let her make trouble.”

Gu Baoshu isn’t married yet. If she ruins her reputation, she’ll have to find a match from home.

Marquis Gu glanced at them calmly and called out on the field, ”Young ladies on the field, quickly withdraw, the next round is about to begin.”

Hearing her Third Brother call out, Gu Baoshu reluctantly turned her horse around, leaned down to pick up her mallet, and led the young ladies off the field to change clothes.

After a while, both teams were ready.

Marquis Gu led the group onto the field, followed by Yelv Guza and his clan’s warriors.

The men on both sides were all strong and tall, the Yelv Clan people were fierce, and the soldiers from Daxing were full of a murderous aura.

Standing together, they did nothing yet but already made others breathless with tension.

Qin Heng couldn’t help but murmur quietly, ”Brother-in-law, you must let me win, I bet all my silver on the Daxing Team.”
