My Sister Insisted on Swapping Marriages, and I Became a Marchioness Instead

Chapter 405: Chapter 405: How to Appease a Tigress

Marquis Gu’s heart was filled with an indescribable sweetness, and a foolish air appeared on his handsome, unruly face.

”I keep it all in my heart, don’t worry, I will definitely let you see my sincerity.”

Qin Yuan playfully scolded him and shot Marquis Gu a sideways glance.

”Well, I’ll remember that.”

This instantly made half of Marquis Gu’s body go numb.

If it weren’t for the thought of heading to the Great Camp, he truly wouldn’t be able to move his feet.

Everyone says that a small parting is better than a new marriage, and he deeply agrees.

With great difficulty, Marquis Gu finally left Wutong Garden, sighed several times with disinterest, and headed straight to the Great Camp with Gu Shiba.

Gu Shiba rode behind the master, occasionally hearing him sigh deeply, and had many things in his heart but didn’t know how to express them, so he also wanted to sigh.

Upon entering the Great Camp, as soon as Marquis Gu dismounted, General Jin and others who had received the news immediately gathered around.

The Kicking Snow Black Steed was a horse with intelligence, able to understand human speech and remember people. With Marquis Gu’s signal, it followed Gu Shiba, who led it to walk by his side.

General Jin asked, ”Why has Marquis come today; not staying home for a few more days?”

Gu Jinghui shook his head: ”I can’t stay.”

Everyone exchanged subtle glances and pushed each other to ask questions.

After a long while, General Jin stroked his big beard beside his cheek and asked again: ”Why can’t you stay? Is Sixth Master managing alone at home all right?”

Gu Jinghui replied: ”He’s grown enough, if he can’t handle present matters, how can you count on him for the future?”

Upon hearing this, General Jin’s face turned pale, his gaze directed at Gu Jinghui filled with sorrow, but Gu Jinghui was busy asking the Counselor about the situation in the Great Camp and didn’t notice.

General Jin and others exchanged looks again, each appearing as mournful as if they had lost their parents.

Gu Shiba observed and sighed silently in his heart, thinking: ”The people in the Great Camp have probably all heard about the Marquis’ situation. Just knowing some news made them so upset, the Marquis has to be strong to suppress his sadness and act like nothing’s wrong.”

Marquis Gu was completely unaware of the debates going on in those around him and immediately briefed them on the Emperor’s mandate to have personnel from various departments assist with the Capital Inspection.

General Jin was the first to respond: ”Marquis has such a heavy burden; if there’s anything you need us for, just give the orders.”

Marquis Gu said: ”There is truly one matter only you can handle.”

General Jin was taken aback, asked, ”Could it be asking me to assess those civil servants? If it is, I want to evaluate the Ministry of Personnel, as they’ve given us a hard time when we report military achievements.”

The crowd egged on: ”Exactly, take this chance to sort them out, let those Extraordinary Ministers at the Ministry of Personnel keep their noses in the air, acting superior just because they know how to recite scriptures.”

”No, no, I need to transfer some Counselor responsible for documents. You’ll find someone else to handle paperwork later, after this period passes we can discuss again.”

Marquis Gu hurriedly waved his hand, fearing the Minister of the Ministry of Personnel was looking for trouble, couldn’t risk speaking rashly and causing great issues.

During the conversation, they arrived outside of Marquis Gu’s big tent, everyone paused, while General Jin closely followed Marquis Gu inside.

The others didn’t leave, they formed groups of three or two quietly discussing.

Gu Shiba took the Kicking Snow Black Steed and his own mount to the stables, then sat absent-mindedly on a horizontal dead tree stump nearby.

After a while, General Jin came to find him, with a heavy expression on his thick face.

”Shiba, I have some words for you, don’t tell anyone else.”

”What is it?” Gu Shiba was startled and quickly stood up.

General Jin hesitated with the words at the tip of his tongue, rubbed his big hands, said: ”Is it true that the Marquis is... is like the rumors outside?”

”Like what?”

Gu Shiba’s eyes showed a fierce light.

General Jin was somewhat urgent, ”Just like that, did he really injure his vital parts?”

Gu Shiba angrily threw out two words: ”Don’t know.”

General Jin wasn’t upset, ”It’s reasonable for you not to know, let me ask, how has the lady been getting along with the Marquis lately?”

”Why are you asking this?”

Gu Shiba was very displeased.

The Marquis’ subordinates truly don’t consider themselves outsiders.

Seeing his expression, General Jin realized immediately and said: ”The Marquis asked me about marital relationship advice, I fear speaking wrongly, giving bad advice, so I specially took a temporary leave to find you for clarity before offering suggestions.”

”Just for this?”

”Of course.”

General Jin nodded his head.

Gu Shiba was suspicious, ”You know, it’s always Sixteen who follows the Marquis. A few days ago, the Marquis and the lady seemed to not get along... the Marquis didn’t look good and moved to the outer courtyard, saying it was to accompany Sixth Master. But yesterday, the Marquis moved back and was chatting and laughing with the lady. I think the rumors outside are nonsense, the Marquis looks in good spirits, heroic, how could he not be capable?”

General Jin sighed, ”You fool, you’re not even married yet, what do you know! Has the Marquis recently seen a doctor?”

”He did see one,” Gu Shiba nodded.

General Jin sighed even deeper, then listlessly waved his hand, ”All right, I understand.”

After saying this, he walked away, his robust back inexplicably appeared desolate, causing Gu Shiba to shout loudly, ”What do you mean by this?”

General Jin didn’t turn back, ”I’m just asking, what can I mean?”

Gu Shiba mumbled: ”...This person hasn’t even told me if this is real or fake.”

General Jin adjusted his mood, plastered a smile, and returned to the big tent, approaching Gu Jinghui: ”Marquis, regarding the matter you asked earlier... I feel there’s only one way to solve it.”

”What way?”

Gu Jinghui immediately sat upright, focused on General Jin.

General Jin said: ”However, Marquis must promise not to scold me, whenever I anger my wife seriously, I often use this trick, usually, she acts a bit spoiled first, then gradually calms down and reconciles.”

This from General Jin piqued Marquis Gu’s interest, he urged: ”Just speak, I won’t scold you, after all, you say what you have to, whether I use it or not is my choice.”

General Jin cleared his throat, then said: ”Every time that tigress at home gets mad, I first hide far away, this hiding is not out of fear or guilt...”

Seeing Marquis Gu looking eagerly for answers, he continued: ”Why do that? It’s to figure out why she’s mad. Only by understanding can you address it properly. It’s like strategy, knowing yourself and your enemy ensures victory, right?”

”Right,” Marquis Gu immediately agreed.

General Jin added: ”Then I find ways to make her happy, if I accidentally touch the tiger’s backside, I just have to... I just have to...”

Facing Marquis Gu’s intense gaze, he shut his eyes and took the plunge: ”I kneel to the tigress and slap myself...”

Gu Jinghui stared wide-eyed in shock.
