My Sister Insisted on Swapping Marriages, and I Became a Marchioness Instead

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Not So Tormenting

Gu Jinghui’s eyes darkened, and after a long pause, he said, ”I understand.”

The two walked silently across the corridor bridge. The little maid waiting outside noticed them and hurriedly lifted the curtain. Gu Jinghui carried her into the inner room, and Qin Yuan instructed him to place her on the couch, then urged, ”Lady Zhao seems to still have a high fever and is starting to babble. I’m not going to argue with her, but you need to quickly find a way to send her back to Fengxuan Pavilion before she worsens.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Jinghui paused and said, ”Yuan’er is thoughtful.”

Qin Yuan thought for a moment and added, ”It’s better for Lady Zhao to return in a soft sedan chair or pouch. Those two children are still young; the night road is difficult, and they might stumble.”

Hearing these words, the expression on Gu Jinghui’s face changed repeatedly, finally saying, ”Good Yuan’er, you are truly kind.”

Qin Yuan didn’t know what he was thinking again, nor did she want to know, so she urged again, ”Alright, you should leave quickly. Don’t let them cry in front of Wutong Garden’s gate. People who see might gossip. Aren’t you worried about gossip being less?”

With this, she cast a reproachful glance.

The bright autumn gaze seemed to blame Gu Jinghui for causing so many issues, or to urge him to quickly settle Mrs. Zhao and her children, or to be concerned about Gu Jinghui’s reputation...

A thousand words, all included.

This reproachful expression made Gu Jinghui’s soul feel a little adrift.

Since ancient times, heroes are difficult to pass the beauty barrier.

He felt that this barrier of Yuan’er was destined to be insurmountable.

Gu Jinghui felt unable to move his feet, only wanting to stay by his little wife’s side. He looked at Qin Yuan’s jade feet and gently asked, ”Does it still hurt?”

Hong Ye and Cui Ming had also returned, seeing this, they stayed outside the door.

Qin Yuan blushingly chased him away, ”Alright, they’re both back, no need to worry about me. I just twisted it, now it’s better. You should quickly go comfort their mother and children.”

Gu Jinghui looked deeply at his little wife sitting on the couch, smiling charmingly, and said softly, ”I’ll go.”

”Hmm,” Qin Yuan nodded.

Gu Jinghui then strode out the door, lingered at the entrance, and instructed the two maids in a deep voice, ”Take good care of the madam.”

”Yes, Marquis.”

The two replied in unison.

After Gu Jinghui left, Hong Ye couldn’t hold back her smile, rushed forward, and exclaimed, ”Miss, when the Marquis rushed over to pick you up, it scared me.”

Cui Ming also said, ”I haven’t recovered yet, but the Miss was carried far by the Marquis.”

Qin Yuan lowered her brows, blushing, and said, ”He drank a little wine, so he’s not quite the same as usual.”

Hong Ye glanced at her face and giggled, ”I think the Marquis seemed to have fallen from the sky, looking so mighty and handsome. No wonder that woman Zhao was tempted. The wealth of the Marquis Mansion goes without saying, the Marquis in his prime, good-looking, and treats their mother and children well, no wonder she’s tempted.”

Cui Ming sighed helplessly, ”Hong Ye was just mad at the Marquis, now she’s praising him like a flower.”

Qin Yuan pursed her lips and smiled.

Hong Ye said, ”Seeing that the Marquis didn’t care about them, just focused on bringing the Miss back, I forgave him. Miss didn’t see it, that look of Lady Zhao, truly marvelous. Now her dream should be shattered.”

Qin Yuan said, ”I think she’s hard to wake up.”

As long as she’s in the mansion, Lady Zhao will find ways to achieve her goals.

After spending so many years, how would Lady Zhao give up, merely during mourning, many means couldn’t be implemented.

Hearing this, Hong Ye after a while said, ”Miss shouldn’t have let the Marquis send them back. If Lady Zhao takes advantage of being ill...”

Qin Yuan said, ”Go instruct them to prepare some fragrant soup. I want to take a bath, and sleep early today. If the Marquis returns, let him rest in the side room.”

Hong Ye was shocked, ”Is the Miss still not wanting to consummate?”

Uttering the word ”consummate,” Hong Ye felt a bit shy, but this was a big issue, she couldn’t care less.

Qin Yuan shook her head, ”The Marquis hasn’t fully recovered, running around outside under the sun, and drank wine. He’s also going for Great Camp duty in a few days, no need to rush.”

Only then did Hong Ye turn away.

Qin Yuan whispered to Cui Ming, ”Hong Ye has this temperament, it’s because the Marquis is magnanimous and doesn’t mind, or I believe she would suffer.”

Cui Ming laughed, ”Miss, you don’t need to worry about her. She’s not foolish, knowing the Marquis doesn’t mind, that’s why she’s like this.”

Qin Yuan thought for a moment, laughed, ”You’re right, I overthought.”

Marquis Gu, taking her into account, would be lenient with Hong Ye, so Hong Ye got even more impudent. As long as she didn’t offend Marquis Gu, Marquis Gu wouldn’t do anything to Hong Ye.

When Hong Ye returned again, Qin Yuan had picked up the accounts book from the needlework room and examined half of it under the lamp, marking several mistakes, said, ”These areas are clearly wrong. Tomorrow Cui Ming should ask Mrs. Lu publicly what’s going on.”

Cui Ming agreed.

Qin Yuan gave some other instructions, then went to bathe and wash before going to bed.

Outside, Hong Ye whispered to Cui Ming, ”The Marquis hasn’t come back yet, was he held up by Lady Zhao?”

Cui Ming spat, ”Miss has her own plans, she’s not worried, what are you worrying about? Truly, the Emperor isn’t anxious yet the eunuch is worried. Are you going to grab the Marquis’s feet and tie him to Miss’s belt?”

Hong Ye couldn’t help but laugh, ”You’re right, Miss isn’t worried at all, yet I’m anxious for her.”

Cui Ming whispered, ”When has Miss ever suffered any major losses.”

Hong Ye’s heart settled, ”You’re right, I can sleep well tonight.”

Cui Ming: ”...”

She followed Miss’s orders and drugged the wedding cup for the Marquis, seeing Miss’s confident look, it was obviously related to the drug.

Luckily, she didn’t let Hong Ye handle this.

When Gu Jinghui returned, the little maid guarding outside hurriedly approached, ”The Marquis is back. The madam instructed me to wait here and remind the Marquis.”

”What for?”

Gu Jinghui’s gaze drifted toward the main room.

The little maid said, ”Madam said, Marquis shouldn’t forget to apply the medicine properly, not letting sweat and dust dirty the wounds again.”

Gu Jinghui raised his eyebrows, ”Has the madam rested?”

”Yes, after bathing, the madam rested, saying she felt exhausted these days.”

Gu Jinghui gently twirled his fingers, and could only say, ”Alright, I know, go away.”

He entered the side room somewhat dejectedly.

It’s easy to move out of the main room, but moving back seems difficult.

However, being affectionate with his little wife while with injuries isn’t wise.

Gu Jinghui thought irritably, his own mother truly... Being married, yet feeling unmarried, even more torturous than not being married.

Watching the delightful little wife constantly, but unable to indulge.

Such a torment.

The next day, Qin Yuan woke up, hearing bursts of cheers in the yard. She called Hong Ye a few times, then Cui Ming, but no one responded, having to get up and grab a gown casually draping it on.

Before the belt was tied, Gu Jinghui walked in only wearing an undershirt, his muscular arms exposed.
