The generals all stood at attention and waited for the Sovereign’s orders.

This was the moment Jason had been waiting for, and the rest of Jason’s plans working out properly would depend entirely on what the Sovereign did here. Jason had actually seen the messenger who came to see what was happening with Jaraht. The messenger had flown very close to Jason and looked right down at him, and Jason knew that if he launched a single attack from where he was, then he would have easily killed the messenger, but Jason had no reason to do that. Jason wanted the Sovereign and his generals to know exactly what was happening in those towns. If they didn’t know, then they would all focus their strength on the main city, and that would derail Jason’s plans. Instead, Jason told his subordinates not to attack the man, and he allowed him free passage as he ran back to the main city, and now he had given the Sovereign the exact message Jason wanted him to hear!

So when the Sovereign spoke next, he didn’t know that he was walking right into the trap Jason had laid out for him.

”I want you all to head out to those towns and eliminate the intruders! Each of you is to take at least ten men of high rank with you and clear out the attackers as quickly as possible. The rest of the men are to head out to the city center and confront this Lich. It managed to craft a rune capable of taking power from even me, so there is no doubt that it will be dangerous, but the men are only to keep it busy for a few minutes. I will be joining the battle as soon as my preparations are ready.”

The generals all felt their eyes widen when the Sovereign said he was joining the battle! They knew the sheer power that the Sovereign wielded and they knew that him joining any battle meant that they had already claimed victory! But the issue here was the fact that he had far too much power! A single attack from the Sovereign would be enough to level a quarter of this city easily! If the Sovereign went out there to join the attack, then wasn’t he going to eradicate this city from the map?

But no one could speak up against the Sovereign’s words since he had already made his decision. They could only believe that the Sovereign knew what he was doing and hope that he didn’t cause too much damage to the city in his fight! The generals all bowed as they began to file out of the room with their right-hand men following behind them! The Sovereign watched them file out with his frown still in place, and once they were gone, he barked out an order for his servants to fetch him his sword and armor!

....

On the other side of the world, Jason smiled as he watched the fight happening between Jaraht and Yusef. Yusef used her spear with a skill and dexterity that was beyond anything Jason had ever seen. Her thrusts and slashes were timed perfectly, and she worked very well with her dragon to unleash fire when the opponent least expected it, but she was nothing compared to Jaraht. Jaraht and his dragon were stronger and faster than her, and since Jaraht was now Jason’s subordinate and he no longer feared death, Jaraht was more intense than ever before!

Jason’s system was giving him notifications of the kills from the other battles, but Jason’s focus was still on the fight between the Generals. Jaraht and his dragon flew towards Yusef quickly, and Yusef commanded her dragon to shoot fire at them as she prepared her spear! The dragon did as it was told, and Yusef expected Jaraht to at least move out of the way or dive down so she could use her spear to attack him, but she was shocked when Jaraht suddenly flew through her fire without caring about his life at all! Jaraht and his dragon slammed into Yusef, and Jaraht grabbed her spear as she was about to stab him before he unleashed a massive punch that rattled her head!

SLAM!

The two Generals fell to the ground, and Yusef immediately struggled to try and get Jaraht off her body! She held on tight to her spear and punched him to the side, and Jaraht was forced to roll over and give Yusef space! The two dragons were still fighting in the air above the Generals, but all of Yusef’s attention was on Jaraht as she held her spear toward him in a ready stance while trying to calm her breathing!

Phwoom!

Yusef’s spear erupted in flames as she activated [Emberstorm] and she narrowed her eyes as she waited for any movement from Jaraht! Jaraht suddenly twitched forward, and Yusef blasted off faster than him and unleashed multiple thrusts in his direction!

Woosh! Woosh! Woosh! Woosh!

Jaraht easily dodged many of the thrusts, but wasn’t able to avoid all of them, and Yusef eventually stabbed him in the right shoulder! She sent a massive surge of mana through he spear, and her flames roared into new life and increased the damage from the thrust, before she suddenly twisted the spear and dragged it out roughly! Yusef expected to at least see some blood from the attack, but Yusef was shocked when she didn’t see anything at all! The wound only left a large hole in Jaraht’s shoulder, and it had already started to close up! It didn’t even look like Jaraht felt any pain from that attack!

”What in the world did you do to yourself, Jaraht? Can’t you say anything, you fucking traitor!? Talk to me!”

Yusef was so angry that she dropped her stance for a split second, and Jaraht didn’t allow that mistake to pass as he immediately charged forward! Yusef tried to bring up a sloppy defense once she realized her mistake, but Jaraht was far too fast, and he landed a massive punch on her head and made church bells ring in her ears! Yusef was thrown back and slammed into the ground! She held her head and screamed as a skull-splitting pain tore through her nerves! Jaraht immediately grabbed her spear and dashed forward! Yusef saw his shadow approaching and she quickly raised her hand and created a blast of fire to try and block his attack, but Jaraht didn’t even flinch as he brought the spear down in a heavy thrust and it stabbed into her chest!

SQUELCH!

Yusef’s face twisted in shock from the fact that she had just been killed, and she looked into the emotionless eyes of Jaraht and realized that this was definitely not the man that she had known.

”You... traitor.”

Jason smiled once he got the notification that another general had been killed, and he thought about sending Jaraht towards the castle to handle the other Generals, but Jason frowned when he saw more than five hundred soldiers coming toward Azrael’s position. These soldiers were still members of the Imperial Guards, but from what Jason could feel, they were stronger than the first wave of soldiers that arrived, so Jason guessed that most of the soldiers were either high-level A Rank or S Rank. If Jason left Azrael alone with this horde, then he might get overwhelmed. Jason decided that it would be best to just stick to his plan and focus on separating the Generals from the Sovereign.

Jason moved across the towns again and began to resurrect the soldiers that had died.
