Scripture of Days Past

The Desire Demon seemed extremely confident that he could take everyone down with him, so surely there’s still more to come.

Furthermore, the Ignorance Demon was still kneeling on the ground and trembling in fear, clearly anticipating the arrival of something even more terrifying.

Sure enough, as the crimson Buddhist relic crumbled, a pale, normal-sized hand extended from the gate and grabbed hold of the relic. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

The owner of the hand then stepped through the gate. It was a stunning, androgynous figure who possessed both soft, feminine beauty and cold, masculine charm, making it impossible to determine their gender from their appearance alone.

Their white hair swayed freely behind them, and a gleaming, crimson crystal embedded in their glabella.

As they opened their mouth, a bright red tongue unfurled from within and wrapped itself around the Buddhist relic before pulling it into their mouth.

The moment they appeared, everyone present felt as if they were beginning to lose control of their bodies and minds. It was as though some kind of monster were threatening to burst out of their body and minds, tear them apart from within, devour their flesh and take their place.

Just his mere presence makes me feel like a major demonic tainting incident is imminent! Zhang Fengyun thought with a grim expression.

The figure before her didn’t feel human at all. She couldn’t sense even the slightest trace of humanity from them. Instead, they felt more like a walking calamity.

Han Jueyong immediately recognized the androgynous figure as Li Yaofeng, and hurriedly took another Bloodbath Pill, but even that did little to ease his anxiety.

It looks like Li Yaofeng can freely enter and leave the Buddha Realm. This must’ve been his objective all along, from the moment he first joined the Vajra Monastery!

All of a sudden, Li Yaofeng spread his arms as if he were about to embrace the heavens. Immediately afterward, his body disintegrated into a wave of blood, and he vanished into thin air.

In the next instant, Fu Haotian felt a firm hand press down on his shoulder. He had been secretly reaching for a talisman, but his entire body instantly stiffened.

Like Zhang Fengyun, he also possessed an Indestructibility Talisman, which had encased his entire body in a suit of golden armor. However, the moment Li Yaofeng’s hand came into contact with the armor, it was immediately stained black.

The section of golden armor beneath Li Yaofeng’s hand quickly melted away, as if subjected to severe corrosion. It then reformed, only to dissolve once again, repeating the cycle over and over.

The demons inside his body are too powerful and too numerous! Fu Haotian thought. He’s like a walking demonic tainting incident, and my talismans can’t ward off his power. Right now, the only things that might harm him are my two remaining Palm Lightning Talismans.

However, a wry smile appeared on his face as he realized he most likely wouldn’t even get a chance to use them.

Right at that moment, Zhang Fengyun suddenly pointed a finger at Li Yaofeng and yelled, ”Don’t pick on an old man! Come at me instead if you’ve got the balls! Or do you not even have any balls? What’re you even supposed to be? You look like you couldn’t decide which gender you wanted to be while you were still in your mother’s womb!”

Everyone instantly fell silent and turned to her in disbelief. Even the Ignorance Demon was gawking at her in astonishment.

”Trying to provoke me, are you?” Li Yaofeng chuckled, his voice just as androgynous as his appearance. ”It’s a rather childish tactic, but fine. I’ll humor you.”

Almost as soon as Li Yaofeng began speaking, Zhang Fengyun whipped out a Concealment Talisman and set it alight.

Li Yaofeng swept an arm toward her, and it rapidly elongated into a whip-like appendage. It produced a shrieking sound as it tore through the air before striking the ground and leaving behind a trench over ten meters long. However, Zhang Fengyun had already vanished, causing Li Yaofeng’s attack to miss.

Fu Haotian and Han Jueyong immediately took advantage of his moment of distraction to strike.

Fu Haotian activated his Palm Lightning Talisman, sending an impossibly fast bolt of lightning hurtling toward Li Yaofeng’s head.

At the same time, Han Jueyong channeled the Vajra Laws with all his might and swung his giant saber at Li Yaofeng’s waist.

However, much to Fu Haotian’s astonishment, Li Yaofeng casually stepped back and evaded the bolt of lightning, as if he had anticipated the attack in advance.

Immediately afterward, he gently drummed his fingers against the blade of Han Jueyong’s saber as if he were playing a zither. Each tap carried as much power as an all-out strike from a martial artist at the pinnacle of the fifth state.

Han Jueyong’s saber shattered instantly, and before he could retreat, a crimson figure had already appeared behind him.

”You’re putting the Vajra Laws to shame,” Li Yaofeng sneered before forming a hand seal and channeling the Vajra Laws himself.

In the blink of an eye, his body swelled to over three meters in height, and he thrust a palm into Han Jueyong’s back.

The force of the blow instantly warped Han Jueyong’s heavy armor and sent him flying like a cannonball. He plowed through several walls in succession before plummeting into the flames below.

By this point, the three Dao Comprehension Seeds had grown somewhat accustomed to the effects of Li Yaofeng’s demonic tainting. They let loose a collective roar and charged at him.

Meanwhile, Chu Qiguang continued observing from afar. Before he even had a chance to ask, Qiao Zhi exclaimed, ”That’s Li Yaofeng!”

A grim look appeared on Chu Qiguang’s face. Each of the five scourges possessed only a single ability, yet they were already extremely troublesome to deal with. Li Yaofeng clearly had far more demons inside his body, granting him a whole host of abilities.

To top it all off, he’s also an extremely formidable martial artist. Both he and Han Jueyong have learned the Vajra Laws, but the difference between them is like night and day.

Even though Zhong Shan’e had also reached the Dao Comprehension state, Chu Qiguang had never felt that his powers were unfathomable or beyond his understanding. Li Yaofeng, however, felt truly unfathomable to him. He was a threat that Chu Qiguang was completely unable to measure.

This clearly demonstrated how much more powerful Dao arts were than martial arts at the Dao Comprehension state.

With that in mind, Chu Qiguang turned to Qiao Zhi and asked, ”Why didn’t you encourage me to reach the Dao Comprehension state through Dao arts?”

”Reaching the Dao Comprehension state through Dao arts is far more difficult than doing so through martial arts,” Qiao Zhi explained. ”Besides, it’s not like you could simply stumble upon an orthodox Dao art the way you did with the Sumeru King Scripture. The two paths aren’t mutually exclusive anyway, so even if you reach the Dao Comprehension state through martial arts, you can still pursue Dao arts after that. Setting that aside for now, what are you planning to do next? I think we should retreat.”
