Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 974: Chapter 973: Yang Meng’s Competitive Spirit

”An auction? What auction?” Lin Dong asked.

”A gemstone auction,” Gu Lingfei began, ”Many people from the upper-class society in Demon City will attend.”

At the moment of making the call, it was apparent that Tang Han was also nearby.

At that moment, she too shouted into the phone, ”Brother Dongzi, come with us, the auction is really fun.”

Lin Dong wasn’t too keen on going, because he wanted to stay with Qiao Bing.

But then he thought that he hadn’t actually given Qiao Bing any gifts.

Why not take her with him to the auction, and buy her a gift there?

Although Sister Bing was not the materialistic type, which woman wouldn’t like jewelry and diamonds?

With this in mind, Lin Dong then said, ”Okay, but I want to bring someone with me, is that alright?”

”Of course it is,” Gu Lingfei laughingly said.

”Alright, then we’ll meet up later.”

After hanging up the phone, Lin Dong turned to look at Qiao Bing.

”Sister Bing, let’s go to an auction tonight.”

Qiao Bing naturally had no objection, as her work at the Second Hospital of Devil Capital had come to a complete end, and she didn’t need to return tonight or tomorrow.

It was indeed time to properly relax.

So, the two of them left the hospital.

After they had gone, Peng Xin, Yang Meng, and Peng Wenhao looked at Lin Dong’s retreating figure, with different expressions on their faces.

Peng Wenhao said worriedly, ”Aunt, perhaps you should be more careful these days.”

As soon as these words came out, Peng Xin frowned and asked, ”Wenhao, what do you mean?”

”Aunt, didn’t Lin Dong say that you and Yang Meng have been showing signs of impending misfortune lately? So, it’s best to be careful!” explained Peng Wenhao.

”You think what he said is right?” Peng Xin’s frown deepened.

Yang Meng, however, curled her lips and said, ”You actually believe that fortune-telling nonsense? It’s all a load of rubbish! Does he think he is an immortal who can foresee our good or bad luck?”

Peng Wenhao sighed, ”If it weren’t for the previous witchcraft incident, I certainly wouldn’t believe it. But now, I kind of believe in these metaphysical things.”

Yang Meng curled her lips; she was firmly disbelieving in all of that. She also didn’t believe in the ’witchcraft’ that Lin Dong mentioned last time. She just thought that the patient had contracted a strange disease, which Lin Dong happened to cure.

She didn’t at all believe in the existence of witchcraft or the so-called fortune-telling, or anything related to metaphysics.

Peng Xin also shook her head, ”Wenhao, you’re overthinking it. If he really could see our fate, wouldn’t that make him an immortal?”

Clearly, she did not believe either.

Seeing this, Peng Wenhao had nothing more to say.

...

After Lin Dong left the hospital with Qiao Bing, they went to meet up with Gu Lingfei, Tang Han, and Tang Jun.

The meeting place was at the West Coast Grand Hotel.

The auction was being held in the conference hall of the West Coast Hotel.

When Lin Dong and Qiao Bing arrived, they saw Gu Lingfei, Tang Han, and Tang Jun.

The trio also saw Lin Dong and similarly noticed Qiao Bing.

From afar, Tang Han couldn’t help but whisper to Gu Lingfei, ”Sister Lingfei, you’re in danger. The beauties by Brother Dongzi’s side are no less beautiful than you; can you compete with them?”

Gu Lingfei gave her a look, ”Such a small devil, I’ve already told you, Teacher Lin Dong and I have a pure teacher-student relationship. Why won’t you believe it?”

Tang Han feigned a knowing sneer and said, ”Heh, you really think I’m a naive child, that easy to deceive? I may be young, but I understand one thing, that is, there’s no such thing as a pure relationship between a man and a woman.”

Gu Lingfei: ”...”

She didn’t know where Tang Han had picked up such twisted theories.

There’s no pure relationship between a man and a woman?

By now, Lin Dong and Qiao Bing had reached the three of them, and Qiao Bing was cordially greeting everyone.

”Hi everyone, my name is Qiao Bing.”

”Hello, hello, Sister Qiao Bing, you are so beautiful,” Tang Han sweetly complimented Qiao Bing as she spoke.

Qiao Bing smiled lightly, ”You’re very pretty too.”

A few people quickly became familiar with each other and headed towards the inside of the hotel together.

Arriving at the auction site, there was a huge conference room set up to accommodate a thousand people for an auction.

Directly in front was a stage with a red carpet.

The seats for the audience below were plush, with several hundred in place.

And by now, most of the seats were already taken.

Lin Dong and his group of people walked towards the front seats.

However, while walking down the aisle, they encountered a familiar face.

”Hehe, Qiao Bing, Lin Dong, it turns out the auction you’re attending is hosted by my boyfriend’s family.”

The speaker was Yang Meng from the hospital.

”You have a boyfriend? Weren’t you single?” Qiao Bing asked, puzzled.

”Right, I was single when I came to Demon City, but now, I have a boyfriend,” said Yang Meng with a smile.

Qiao Bing was taken aback—she had found a boyfriend in just a few days?

Indeed, Yang Meng’s boyfriend was someone she found in Demon City.

Previously, she wanted to compare herself with Qiao Bing, so she initially planned to make Peng Wenhao her boyfriend.

But after what happened last time, she felt that Peng Wenhao was no longer worthy of her.

Just then, she took care of a rich second-generation in the Special Care Ward, and she set her sights on him.

She pursued him.

As the saying goes, a man courting a woman is hindered by a wall; a woman courting a man is separated by a thin veil. In just three days, she had won him over.

It was none other than Huang Jie, Boss Huang’s son who organized this auction.

Now she felt that her boyfriend was a hundred times better than Qiao Bing’s, and of course, she wanted to show off in front of Qiao Bing.

She hadn’t known how to show off, but now, God had given her the opportunity.

Lin Dong and Qiao Bing were actually attending an auction hosted by her boyfriend’s family.

She would certainly not let go of this opportunity.

”Hehe, Qiao Bing, considering our relationship as colleagues, if your boyfriend wants to bid on jewelry later, I can ask my boyfriend to give him a discount.”

”Let’s make it a 9.9% discount.”

At that moment, a rich second-generation dressed in a suit appeared at the door of the auction.

He was accompanied by numerous bodyguards, and when he showed up, it was like stars surrounding the moon—a significant presence.

Many people who came to the auction gathered around, actively trying to mingle and flatter him.

”Young Master Huang, you’ve arrived!”

”Young Master Huang, I heard that you recently bought a piece of rough jadeite for 300,000 and cut a best-quality jade worth tens of millions from it. Such amazing vision.”

”Young Master Huang, there’s also a rough jadeite auction today. You should let us learn a thing or two later on.”

”...”

Watching him surrounded by stars and coveted by the ’upper-class society,’ Yang Meng’s eyes showed a look of infatuation.

Of course, she didn’t forget to show off in front of Qiao Bing:

”Look, my boyfriend is here. How about it? Isn’t he much better than your boyfriend?”

Qiao Bing glanced at Huang Jie and shrugged, ”Not even comparable to a single hair of my boyfriend.”

”Pfft—,” Yang Meng laughed out loud at this remark.

”Qiao Bing, what do you consider outstanding? It can’t just be about looks, right? I have to admit, your boyfriend is extremely handsome, out of this world handsome. My boyfriend indeed cannot compare. But what use is just good looks?”

”Being outstanding should be judged by other things. Wealth, power, strength—these are what represent excellence. And in these respects, my boyfriend beats yours hand down, doesn’t he?”

Initially, Lin Dong couldn’t be bothered to speak.

However, he glanced at Yang Meng’s boyfriend, Huang Jie, and couldn’t suppress his amusement.

He couldn’t help but interject:

”Yang Meng, I’m not sure how outstanding your boyfriend is. But I guess he must be quite good at having fun.”

”Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible to have a... menage à trois.”
