Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 514: Chapter 514: Medical Exchange Meeting

Lin Dong worked at the hospital that day.

Although he had taken several days off, the department was still thriving.

This was because his two apprentices, Zhuge Lingyou and Li Qingdai, were there.

Besides, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department had recently been expanding its recruitment, attracting a number of outstanding talents from the Chinese Medicine World due to Lin Dong’s fame, who joined the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department at Jianghai Renmin’s Hospital.

The current Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, not to mention becoming the largest department in the entire hospital, was comfortably within the top five.

It was far from the last place it occupied before Lin Dong’s arrival.

Doctors of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department also saw their status rise within the hospital.

Naturally, this caused dissatisfaction for Vice President Huang Wende.

One day, the Dean of the hospital asked Lin Dong to come to the Dean’s Office.

Once there, he found that in addition to the Dean, Vice President Huang Wende and other hospital leaders were also present.

In addition, there was a young man in his thirties wearing glasses.

”Director Lin, you’re here. Let me introduce you, this is Dr. Huang Yu.”

”Born into a noble medical family, he began studying medical books at the age of seven and was exceptionally admitted to the Medical School at the age of fourteen. At sixteen, top Western medical experts abroad took notice of him and brought him overseas to study.”

”He has published up to hundreds of papers abroad and has participated in projects for the Nobel Prize in Medicine.”

”Now having achieved great learning, he has returned domestically. Vice President Huang Wende had a good relationship with him when studying abroad, and through this connection, we have recruited him to our hospital.”

”He is now also the leader of our hospital’s Western Medicine Internal Medicine Department...”

”You are the leader of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, and both of you young men should really exchange knowledge and learn from each other in the future.”

Upon hearing these words, Lin Dong took the initiative to extend his hand for a handshake.

”Hello.”

This was, after all, a person introduced by the Dean, so Lin Dong felt it proper to show some respect.

However, when he reached out to be courteous, the other party just sneered disdainfully and did not extend his hand.

Instead, he said to the Dean, ”President, don’t compare him with me in the future. How can someone from Traditional Chinese Medicine compare to me in Western Medicine?”

The President was somewhat awkward, not expecting Huang Yu to be so arrogant.

He looked apologetically towards Lin Dong, hoping he would not take offense.

Lin Dong shook his head, not deigning to argue with him.

Changing the subject, the President laughingly said, ”Dr. Huang Yu, Dr. Lin Dong, the reason I called you here today is at the request of the President of the Medical Association!”

”Oh? What’s the matter?” Huang Yu asked curiously.

”It’s like this, Jianghai City and our neighbor, Tongzhou City, have a Medical Exchange Meeting.”

”This meeting is sponsored by the Medical Associations of both cities. They select the best young doctors from both cities to compete in the Medical Competition.”

”This exchange meeting is held once a year, but in the past, it has always been our Jianghai that loses.”

”That’s why for this time, President Liao of the Medical Association specifically instructed me to find two promising candidates to ensure victory in this Medical Competition. So I thought of you two.”

”If the two of you, one in Western Medicine and one in Traditional Chinese Medicine, were to go and represent the Medical Association at this meeting, we would undoubtedly win...”

After listening to the President, Lin Dong understood the general idea.

He had no objections.

After all, this was also about winning honor for Jianghai, and as a native of Jianghai, he naturally wished to contribute.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

At this moment, footsteps were heard at the door.

Several people then entered.

The leader, about fifty, with a prominent belly, was President Liao, the President of the Jianghai Medical Association.

President Liao had previously studied Western Medicine but did not remain in the hospital as a doctor; instead, he joined the Medical Association.

After climbing the ranks for many years, he finally became the President of the Medical Association.

His status in the medical world was not low, even surpassing that of the Dean of Renmin Hospital.

After his arrival, the Dean and the others greeted him warmly.

President Liao nodded slightly and said,

”How is it? Old buddy, who are you going to recommend to me for this Medical Exchange Meeting?”

As soon as he said this, the Dean hurriedly introduced Lin Dong and Huang Yu to President Liao.

Lin Dong originally thought he might have heard of himself, given that his reputation was not insignificant.

However, it was somewhat unexpected that Liao showed little reaction upon hearing Lin Dong’s name.

Instead, he was extremely enthusiastic about Huang Yu.

”Dr. Huang Yu, hello, hello, such a promising young man.”

As for Lin Dong, he appeared indifferent.

Unable to watch further, the Dean reintroduced Lin Dong.

”President Liao, this is the head of our Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, and also, the Leader of the Southern Sect of Chinese Medicine...”

However, Liao interrupted him before he could finish.

He waved his hand, ”Old buddy, I’m very satisfied with Dr. Huang Yu, whom you recommended.”

The Dean quickly said, ”Besides the Western Doctor Huang Yu, there’s also the Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor Lin Dong. My intention is for them to go together.”

President Liao frowned and said, ”A Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor is really not necessary. One Western Doctor, Huang Yu, is enough on his own!”

Although he was the President of the Medical Association, he fundamentally did not hold Traditional Chinese Medicine in high regard.

This was also the reason why he had not even heard of Lin Dong.

If he had paid the slightest attention to Traditional Chinese Medicine, he would at least be aware of Lin Dong, currently the number one figure in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

On hearing this, the Dean was also quite helpless.

He could only look at Lin Dong apologetically.

As for Huang Yu, he cast a mocking glance at Lin Dong.

Lin Dong’s expression darkened.

Even the President of the Medical Association had such a strong prejudice against Traditional Chinese Medicine. It seemed that his path, the path of Chinese Medicine, was still long and arduous.
