Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 147: Chapter 147 - Pretence?

After the car got back on the highway, the few people inside laughed hysterically.

”Lin Dong, well done!”

”Finally got rid of that lunatic.”

”That damned sissy, utterly disgusting.”

”That’s right, stuff him in the trash bin and see if he dares to be that disgusting again.”

”...”

By then, everyone’s mood lightened up again.

Following that interlude, everyone in the car became lively once more.

In the midst of their jovial conversation, the car quickly arrived at the Southern Capital Hospital of the provincial city.

Upon reaching the Southern Capital Hospital, they discovered they were being looked down on.

No one was even there to receive them!

Although their hospital didn’t measure up to the top provincial Southern Capital Hospital, they shouldn’t be so blatantly ignored while coming for advanced study.

”Are they really not giving us any face? I’ll make a call, have their hospital send someone out to receive us!”

Seeing this, Huang Hua stepped forward, wanting to show off. He intended to flaunt his connections in front of everyone.

Hearing this, others one by one asked, ”Doctor Huang Hua, you know people at Southern Capital Hospital too?”

”Of course, my dad has an old classmate who is the Deputy Director of Neurosurgery at Southern Capital Hospital. I’ll call him and have someone from their personnel come attend to us!” Huang Hua said with a hint of pride.

”No wonder it’s Doctor Huang Hua, such a wide network of connections. Even in the provincial capital city, you know people.”

”Hurry up and call. This is not just about our own face, but also about the reputation of our hospital.”

”Besides, with no one to receive us, how will they arrange our work, how will we advance in our studies?”

”Doctor Huang Hua, it’s down to you now.”

”...”

Everyone turned their gaze towards Huang Hua, immensely satisfying his vanity.

Before making the call, he even took a deliberate look at Lin Dong, his eyes brimming with smugness.

Then, under everyone’s watchful eyes, he took out his phone and called his father’s old classmate.

”Du du du ~~~”

However, the call went on for a long time without an answer.

Awkwardness ensued.

”Doctor Huang Hua, what’s going on? Can you handle this or not?”

Huang Hua, feeling exceedingly awkward, said, ”He must be in the surgery room right now, too busy to answer the phone.”

After hearing his explanation, everyone shook their heads.

If it’s a yes, it’s a yes; if it’s a no, it’s a no.

Everyone just wanted to see results, not listen to excuses.

Shaking their heads, the crowd said with long faces, ”Does anyone else have connections in the city?”

”Find someone to have their hospital send someone to receive us!”

”Just waiting here like this, what’s the point.”

”...”

Qiao Bing also furrowed her brows, although she was the Director of Cardiology at Jianghai Renmin’s Hospital.

But coming to the Southern Capital Hospital, she, too, was clueless and naturally lacked the connections.

At that moment, Lin Dong stepped forward and said, ”Let me try making a call.”

As soon as Lin Dong spoke, everyone looked at him with strange eyes.

Huang Hua spoke up first, ”Lin Dong, what are you trying to pull? You, a barefoot doctor from some backwater village, you’ve probably never even been to the city, what ’connections’ could you possibly have!”

”What’s the use of you making a call?”

The other colleagues nodded one after the other, thinking Lin Dong was even more pretentious than Huang Hua.

Though pretentious, Huang Hua at least had the capital to do so; his family had been medical professionals for three generations and came from a noble family of medicine.

But Lin Dong?

He’d never been to the city before.

Before, he was just a barefoot doctor from the countryside, and it was only through good luck that he entered their hospital. How could he possibly know someone at Southern Capital Hospital in the provincial city?

However, Qiao Bing’s eyes lit up, she looked at Lin Dong with great interest.

Ignoring them, Lin Dong walked to the side and made a call.

This phone call was to Ye Linglong.

Everyone didn’t manage to hear what Lin Dong said, as the call ended in less than a minute.

After hanging up, Lin Dong said, ”Someone should be coming out to receive us shortly!”

As soon as he said this, Huang Hua sneered dismissively, ”Lin Dong, you really are putting on a show...”

The rest also rolled their eyes contemptuously, thinking to themselves that this Doctor Lin Dong was even more pretentious than Huang Hua!

Only Qiao Bing’s eyes kept twinkling, waiting for the outcome.

About a few minutes later.

Suddenly, a man wearing a white gown, exuding tremendous momentum, hurried out.

Following him was a group of people!

As soon as the man appeared, someone exclaimed in surprise, ”That’s Chen Tongwei, the executive vice president of the Southern Capital Hospital!”

”Apart from the president, he’s the highest-ranking official in the hospital!”

”Why is he here? Could he be here to receive us?”

”...”

As they looked on in disbelief, Chen Tongwei approached the group and with a cupped fist salute, said:

”Doctors from Jianghai, I apologize for not welcoming you earlier. My sincerest apologies!”

With cold sweat running down his back, he never imagined that these visiting doctors, who their hospital hardly paid any attention to, could stir Ye Linglong to make a call to their hospital!

Ye Linglong was none other than the Chief Instructor of the Phoenix Special Combat Team, one of Jiangnan Province’s Three Proud Sons of Heaven, a contemporary of Liu Qingshan and Bai Xiaolou, and a young and noble tianjiao.

Furthermore, it was rumored that she was about to be promoted, potentially rising even higher. Someone of her stature personally making a call, their hospital wouldn’t dare not to show respect.

If it hadn’t been for the absence of the president at the hospital, it would never have been his turn, the vice president, to come out and receive them!

Seeing Chen Tongwei, the vice president of the Southern Capital Hospital, personally coming out to receive them, and even offering an apologetic salute, everyone was astounded.

At that moment, all eyes turned to Lin Dong, mouths agape.

So Doctor Lin Dong wasn’t pretending after all; he really did have such connections!

Who had he called just now, such that he could make Chen Tongwei come out to welcome them!?
