She ran to the young man’s side and said coyly, ”Brother Xiangyang, you’re studying that ruler again, huh?”

Li Xiangyang nodded at her words and said, ”Yes, if it weren’t for this ruler, I might have died at the hands of Li Kuirong and his men. I need to find a way to uncover the secrets of this ruler.”

”Rongrong, do you need something from me?”

”Nothing major, just that one-armed old man is at it again, clamoring to go out and find his wife. Honestly, I don’t get why we keep him around—just let him go already,” Zhang Rongrong said irritably.

Li Xiangyang shook his head, ”Uncle Youwei is a Speed Ability User, and we have too few Superpower Users here. He also has a deep grudge against Li Kuirong, making him our natural ally. Keeping him means we have more resistance against Yunquan Temple.”

”But he keeps insisting on going out to find his wife, and he never listens. Last time he snuck out, he almost led Yunquan Temple’s people over to us, causing us to lose several people.”

Li Xiangyang pondered for a moment and then asked, ”How’s the situation with the Lantern Persimmon?”

At his words, Zhang Rongrong quickly replied, ”I’ve had people watching it constantly. I feel it’s going to ripen in the next couple of days. Recently, there have been many Mutant Beasts around it, all eyeing that Mutated Fruit.”

Li Xiangyang’s expression became more serious as he advised, ”Yangshan has many fruits, but Mutated Fruits are still rare. This mutated Lantern Persimmon is crucial for us. Getting it could potentially awaken a superpower in one of our comrades.”

”Since Uncle Youwei insists on going out, then let’s seize the day and go pluck that Lantern Persimmon today.”

”Tell him that if he helps us get that Lantern Persimmon, we won’t stop him from going wherever he wants.”

Hearing this, Zhang Rongrong’s eyes lit up, ”Alright, I’ll go find him now.”

Zhang Rongrong quickly left the room and went into the courtyard.

A group of people was surrounding a one-armed old man, trying to persuade him.

The old man had graying hair, a weathered face, and a stubborn, distressed look.

A middle-aged woman beside him was holding onto him, pleading earnestly, ”You know what it’s like out there. Yunquan Temple’s people have been watching us. If you dare to go out alone, they’ll definitely gang up on you.”

”Youwei, you’re not young anymore. Why are you still so impulsive?”

Yang Youwei’s mouth moved, ”Are we just going to hide in the academy forever? Living off Mutant Beast meat and these tree vines and wild roots?”

”Why won’t you listen? I ask you, even if you go out and get caught, how will you find your wife afterward?”

”Listen to me, let’s wait until nightfall, then a few of us will sneak out with you.”

”You’ve looked for her countless times at Yunquan Temple, and she may not be there. She could have fled elsewhere...” The middle-aged woman spoke, but the others around sighed.

The suggestion that she fled was just to comfort him.

In their hearts, they all knew Yang Youwei’s wife was likely already dead.

But no one said it out loud, fearing it would upset Yang Youwei.

Just then, Zhang Rongrong walked over and called out, ”Aunt Hong, stop persuading him. Uncle Youwei, Brother Xiangyang just told me we’re planning to pick that Lantern Persimmon. If you help us get it, we won’t stop you from going wherever you want.”

Yang Youwei’s eyelids lifted, ”I’m not going.”

Zhang Rongrong’s expression immediately darkened, ”What do you mean by that, Uncle Youwei? After we saved you back then, you’ve been living here, eating and drinking our supplies. Now that we ask you to do something, you refuse?”

”If you’re this ungrateful, don’t blame us for turning hostile.”

Yang Youwei’s face twitched as he looked at Zhang Rongrong, ”Turning hostile? What are you going to do?”

”What would we do? We’d ask you to leave. We don’t welcome freeloaders here.”

”I was already planning to leave, but you wouldn’t let me,” Yang Youwei said coldly.

Zhang Rongrong angrily retorted, ”You can leave, but first, return all the food and supplies you’ve consumed these days, and compensate for Xiaoma and Xiaolin’s lives lost to save you.”

Yang Youwei fell silent. After a moment, he closed his eyes and said, ”Fine, I’ll go with you. Fetch the Lantern Persimmon, and you won’t stop me anymore.”

Zhang Rongrong finally smiled, ”Deal.”

The people in Jieshi Academy gathered, led by Li Xiangyang as they quietly slipped away from a corner of the courtyard wall.

Once outside of the academy, Li Xiangyang looked around and frowned.

”Rongrong, check out the surroundings.”

Zhang Rongrong nodded, closed her eyes, and a formless Spiritual Power quickly rippled out, scanning in all directions.

A moment later, she displayed a puzzled look, ”Huh, there’s no one tailing us today.”

Li Xiangyang was surprised, ”No one tailing us?”

There were always Speed Ability Users from Yunquan Temple monitoring outside Jieshi Academy. How come there wasn’t any today?

”Great, with no one tailing us today, we should seize the chance and snatch that Lantern Persimmon,” someone said excitedly.

The others also showed happy expressions, feeling today was a good opportunity.

Li Xiangyang thought for a moment and then nodded, ”Indeed, today is a good chance. Everyone, follow me.”

With that, they quickly slipped into the forest and disappeared.

In Yunquan Temple, Yang Mei slowly opened her eyes, revealing a confused look.

Liang Yuan quickly grasped her hand, ”You’re awake?”

The memories before she fell asleep surged back, and Yang Mei’s eyes reddened instantly.
