The Great Thief

However, Mu Qiu wasn’t an ordinary player. In this sort of amateur competition, such a seemingly impossible thing actually did happen.

The Beserker had fallen. The moment he lost, he began to doubt his life.

Next, the Imperial Harem helplessly sent out another Paladin. This Paladin fanatically worshipped the Tire Killer Green Flag Wine, so he had damage and could also heal himself.

However, his output wasn’t as high as Mu Qiu’s, and he also couldn’t heal as much as Mu Qiu.

After fighting for a while, it turned out that he ran out of mana earlier, and he basically became a disgrace to Paladins.

In the end, Mu Qiu also didn’t have Mana, and relied on basic attacks to finish him off, claiming victory for three battles in a row in the arena. In this way, Lu Li and Water Fairy won the bet against Dark Wind along with the right to refuse to answer a question.

There was no suspense about the group battles.

Although Imperial Harem had won their three previous matches, Fat Monkey, Mu Qiu and Short Circuit were able to completely dominate them. This was even disregarding the two other players who were just there to fill out the team – North City Ice Cream and Hiking Sea Cow.

Their skills were jerky and the equipment they wore wasn’t amazing, but they had worked

hard to carve their own elegant styles.

This was especially so for North City Ice Cream. As soon as the battle started, his opponents all targeted him, but Fat Monkey and Mu Qiu purposely didn’t go and help him. He mustered all he could to handle the situation, and was the key distraction until the very end of the round.

The game magazines the next day had all recorded this in great big letters, calling him one of the most radiant new players in this competition, and writing that he was as promising as his seniors in his field, like March Rain. In one battle, his name had become that of the arena’s best new player. There was a chance that he could become one of the key players in Ruling Sword.

“I hope everyone will further support Ruling Sword,” Lu Li said, advertising his guild.

“Today’s competition was really amazing,” Water Fairy said, planning to withdraw.

However, no matter how amazingly they fought in this competition, there was a fear that there was no way to attract the attention of too many ordinary players.

Even so, everyone remembered clearly that Lu Li and Water Fairy had guessed that Ruling Sword would emerge victorious in the end. According to the game rules that Dark Wind had set, since both of them had guessed correctly, they had to answer a question from each other.

They also had one chance to decline to answer a question, so would they use it at this time?

“Congratulations to Ruling Sword for attaining victory. I trust they’ll be welcomed with great happiness. So, today’s competition has concluded, but the show still continues. To finish off, we’re starting our special program,” Dark Wind announced.

Lu Li and Water Fairy glanced at each other’s eyes. They could only sit down dejectedly.

“Don’t be like that, everyone wants to know you two a bit better,” Dark Wind said with a warm smile.

Lu Li really wanted to grab a knife and stab him. He finally knew why this commentator would often invite celebrities to this sort of amateur competition. The audience was attracted to buy tickets to enter the arena not to see the competition, but because the celebrity competitors had been deceived into commentating. This was all part and parcel of the old foxes’ actions.

Even if these celebrity competitors in their primes didn’t have feelings of jealousy, if you had the

chance to tease them a bit, they wouldn’t refuse.

“Ask me first,” Lu Li said, opening up the jar.

He and Square Root 3 had spoken about this sort of commentating event. It was said that commentating was one of the quickest ways to get people on your side; it was even more useful than when you properly won a round of a competition.

After all, when most players watched a competition, they just saw a winner and a loser. Who won and who lost, for them, only made a short, temporary impression. However, this sort of commentating, filled with interesting conversations, was not the same. Many details could make a lasting impression on the audience and it was easier for it all to be acknowledged by many ordinary players.

They didn’t need a lot of wit and humour. Putting aside their identities, they could exaggerate and extrapolate from the smallest characteristics to create stories.

Water Fairy randomly took three cards from a large pile of imaginative questions, then had a look to see what sort of questions they were.

In the end, she chose one and handed it over to Dark Wind.

“When was the first time you held hands with the person you like right now? What did you feel at the time, and what were you thinking in your heart?”

As soon as Dark Wind finished reading, the audience burst out in an uproar. This question was actually well-written. Firstly, it wasn’t especially rousing – it just asked about holding hands. Also, it emphasised what Lu Li felt at the time. Even Water Fairy, who was involved at the time, felt interested, let alone the audience.

That was why this question was picked.

“Please note, you have one chance to refuse to answer a question. Do you want to refuse to answer now?” Dark Wind asked with satisfaction.

“There’s nothing I can’t answer. I’ll just answer it,” Lu Li said as he looked at Water Fairy. The keen intuition of a Thief told him that since Water Fairy wanted to know, he should just let her know. She didn’t mind telling in front of so many people, and he was so thick-skinned himself, so what was there to be afraid of?

This was basically a fairy-tale romance.

“I remember at that time I was walking the streets of Stormwind City, and she wasn’t feeling too happy. I held her hand, and I felt it was so wonderful. There’s no way to describe it to you. As for what I was thinking at the time, I was basically thinking if she would slap me…”

“NO!” Dark Wind roared.

“This was but a girl in a game. How could you just casually say that the feeling was so wonderful? And then using such smug language to say that you couldn’t describe it?”

“Ok, I felt that her hand was very soft, beyond my imagination.”

Lu Li was feeling awkward and embarrassed. Even if he was thick-skinned, he couldn’t continue.

However, Water Fairy was evidently pleased with Lu Li’s answer. At least when she was looking at Lu Li, her eyes sparkled, and she was smiling the whole time.

“Why did we have to give them a chance to have this public display of affection?” Dark Wind sighed, then continued to ask unhappily, “Since it’s already all on the table, then why not talk about when the first kiss was, when you plan to get married, when you want to have kids, when…”

“Ok, now it’s time for me to give a question,” Lu Li said, interrupting Dark Wind. Lu LI basically didn’t take notice of what he was saying.

Not knowing wasn’t a misconception. Lu Li felt that Water Fairy’s originally watery eyes had become pitiful, so that no one would have the heart to give her a hard time.

However, he had already been asked a few times, and he didn’t see her have mercy on him.

The first card asked for Water Fairy’s clothing measurements. Even if Lu Li had never tried, he knew what it was really asking. The person who wrote this question had better not let him know who he was. Was this something he needed to know? Of course, he passed this question.

The second card asked if they liked to sleep naked – what sort of wretched question was this? The sort of person who thought up this question should be single their whole life.

The third card finally could be considered something a bit more normal, otherwise, Lu Li would’ve hinted to Water Fairy to use her right to refuse to answer.

Have you ever cheated in a test?

They didn’t know which angel came up with this question, but to Water Fairy, one of the top students in gaming history, this question couldn’t have been asked for no reason.
