Chapter 1252: Chapter 32: Division of Power

”Since the Great Elder already knows my intentions, would you be willing to support me in clearing out the unrighteous and evil winds within the Holy Temple, bringing clarity to the Temple?”

Liu Shibao asked.

Lin Feng did not directly answer Liu Shibao’s question but instead said, ”Could the Vice Hall Master perhaps introduce the situation of the other three individuals to me?”

Liu Shibao said, ”The first is Dao Lingtian, who has cultivated for three thousand years. The second is Sun Yumu, who has cultivated for eight hundred years. The third is Zong Zhenghuang, who has cultivated for five hundred years. These three are close to becoming Holy-grade Spirit Array Masters, and they might even already be Holy-grade Spirit Array Masters. They do not frequently appear in the Holy Temple and are likely traveling around now.”

Lin Feng said, ”If I am not mistaken, such an important position as the Law Enforcement Hall must certainly be held by Dao Lingtian, who has cultivated the longest.”

Liu Shibao nodded and said, ”It is indeed as the Great Elder guessed. Dao Lingtian has cultivated the longest, and he has the support of the most Vice Hall Masters.”

Lin Feng asked with some confusion, ”There are five Vice Hall Masters supporting Dao Lingtian, four supporting me, and originally the three of you supported Zhuge Jian, which means there are already twelve Vice Hall Masters. Could it be that no Vice Hall Master supports Sun Yumu and Zong Zhenghuang? If no one supports them, how did they become heirs?”

Dong Yunhe said, ”Among the four Holy-grade old ancestors, there are the Sun and Zong Zheng surnames!”

Lin Feng nodded, realizing they were descendants of the old ancestors.

The descendants of the old ancestors, coupled with outstanding talent, being chosen as successors is quite normal.

Lin Feng, with a slight smile, said, ”I do not quite understand, why would you choose Zhuge Jian instead of directly siding with Sun Yumu and Zong Zhenghuang?”

Liu Shibao said, ”Great Elder may not know, but Sun Yumu and Zong Zhenghuang were sent to the Extraterrestrial to train by two old ancestors long ago. We haven’t even had the chance to interact with them.”

Lin Feng said, ”These two, being descendants of the old ancestors, became successors of the Holy Temple without experiencing setbacks. They indeed need some training.”

”Yes, to train them, the old ancestors threw them onto an extremely dangerous and chaotic extraterrestrial planet. Calculating the time, Sun Yumu has been away for over seven hundred years, and Zong Zhenghuang for over four hundred years. It is said the extraterrestrial planet is full of war and killing. These two young masters went through countless life-and-death experiences and barely survived. It is estimated that they will return from the Extraterrestrial World soon,” Dong Yunhe remarked.

Lin Feng was surprised, not expecting such things. Clearly, the four old ancestors put a lot of effort into tempering the successors.

They probably also worried that Sun Yumu and Zong Zhenghuang were not up to the task, hence sending them to the extraterrestrial planet for training.

Liu Shibao continued, ”Those five Vice Hall Masters have long been supporting Dao Lingtian. This Dao Lingtian emerged victoriously among many talented children, becoming the first successor.”

Lin Feng said, ”Since Dao Lingtian emerged as the first successor, there must have been more than one competitor back then. You all should have had supporters too, right? But later, your supporters were eliminated by Dao Lingtian? At that time, you surely had some unpleasantness with Dao Lingtian too.”

”Dao Lingtian, who lets Mo Lengchan act recklessly, is apparently a very forceful and protective master. For the servants, such a master is the best, but for others, Dao Lingtian may blur the lines between right and wrong. For such a person, good and evil are often a matter of a single thought. Therefore, you dare not take risks aligning with Dao Lingtian, lest he retaliate against you.”

Liu Shibao and Dong Yunhe nodded with wry smiles.

Now, over their interactions with Lin Feng, they increasingly understood the extent of Lin Feng’s extraordinary intelligence; many matters didn’t even need to be spoken by them before Lin Feng had already guessed correctly.

Lin Feng continued, ”Actually, I quite admire the two Vice Hall Masters. Before stepping down, they even chose to take down Mo Lengchan, a move that would earn Dao Lingtian’s deadly enmity. Mo Lengchan is harmful and unhelpful to the Holy Temple, and I also wish to get rid of him. But if I participated, the risk would be too great; would it be worth offending Dao Lingtian?”

Liu Shibao said, ”Before leaving the Heavenly Martial Continent, the four old ancestors will redistribute power. A successor can nominate three Vice Hall Masters, but the positions of the twelve Vice Hall Masters are not the same. Though all are Vice Hall Masters, some hold high positions of power, while others are idle. As a former Vice Hall Master, I have the right to suggest. For example, I could propose to the four old ancestors the candidate nominated by the Great Elder Lin succeed to my position, which governs the Law Enforcement Hall, the Divine Ability Pavilion, and the Task Hall—three extremely important departments. If in hand, it represents significant power.”

Lin Feng smiled and said, ”All preconditions presuppose being able to take Mo Lengchan down. If unable, then the position of Vice Hall Master should be succeeded by Mo Lengchan, right?”

”Yes!” Liu Shibao nodded.

Dong Yunhe said, ”In the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple, five positions are the most important: the Holy Tower, the Spirit Array Pavilion, the Law Enforcement Hall, the Ancestral Hall, and the Taiyuan Immortal Realm. The Holy Tower will certainly belong to Sun Yumu, and the Taiyuan Immortal Realm to Zong Zhenghuang.”

Lin Feng did not need to ask why, as he could guess that the Holy Tower and the Taiyuan Immortal Realm were too important. They were likely respectively held by the ancestor Sun Daoming and ancestor Zong Zhengyuan, then passed on to their descendants Sun Yumu and Zong Zhenghuang.

Dong Yunhe continued, ”There are still three positions. Among these, the Law Enforcement Hall and Spirit Array Pavilion, without surprise, would fall into Dao Lingtian’s hands, while the Ancestral Hall would be under your charge, Great Elder Lin.”

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow slightly and asked, ”Will I preside over the ancestral rituals?”

Liu Shibao and Dong Yunhe nodded.

Lin Feng couldn’t help but slightly shake his head. If the power division were like this, his power would be far less than the other three.

”Originally, the Ancestral Hall and the Law Enforcement Hall were under one person’s control, but Dao Lingtian was too assertive, seizing the important position of the Law Enforcement Hall, leaving only the Ancestral Hall for the fourth successor,” Liu Shibao stated.

Lin Feng said, ”It seems the power division of the Holy Temple is indeed full of intrigue. The four old ancestors do not care?”

”The four old ancestors will not interfere in such matters. Whoever is more capable, wields more power—that’s the rule of the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple,” Dong Yunhe said.

Liu Shibao said, ”We plan to convene a meeting of the Vice Hall Masters, at which I will impeach Mo Lengchan. As long as half of the Vice Hall Masters agree, we can report the proposal to remove Mo Lengchan to the four old ancestors.”

Lin Feng stroked his chin and said, ”If Mo Lengchan steps down, who will take on the role of Law Enforcement Hall Master?”

”Wang Tianyao is the Deputy Hall Master of the Law Enforcement Hall, with strong abilities and the son of Vice Hall Master Wang Yangzi, loyal to the Holy Temple. I think Wang Tianyao can take on the role of Law Enforcement Hall Master,” Liu Shibao said.

Liu Shibao naturally knew Wang Tianyao was Lin Feng’s man. Clearly, Liu Shibao had laid down the terms: Lin Feng’s support in impeaching Mo Lengchan, while Liu Shibao would help Lin Feng seize control of the Law Enforcement Hall. Later on, the Vice Hall Master overseeing the Law Enforcement Hall, the Task Hall, and the Divine Ability Pavilion would basically be confirmed as Wang Tianyao.
