Chapter 1241: Chapter 21: Targeted

This Guard Captain is named Nalan Yuanfang, and he has served in the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple as Guard Captain for over three hundred years. He is familiar with the Spirit Array Masters at the Great Elder level appointed by the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple.

The only one he hadn’t seen was Great Elder Lin Feng, whom he has now met.

Nalan Yuanfang naturally didn’t become Guard Captain without reason; he’s always adhered strictly to six words as his principle of conduct.

Low-key, Enthusiastic, Polite.

...

It’s precisely these six-word principles that led him from an ordinary guard to the position of Guard Captain at the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple.

Upon hearing the Great Elder’s doubts, Nalan Yuanfang accompanied them with a smile and said, ”Grand Elder Zhuge, this here is Great Elder Lin Feng, so he’s qualified to be in this lounge.”

”Lin Feng?”

Upon hearing this name, everyone’s spirit was shocked.

Nowadays, the name Lin Feng is famed throughout the Three Thousand States.

Stepping on Murong Heavenly God, ascending to the Heavenly Pride Platform, endowed with unrivaled talent.

Moreover, he acquired the inheritance of the Heavenly Master Lineage.

It’s rumored even the four ancestors of the Holy Temple intend to groom Lin Feng as their successor.

To know, Lin Feng is merely twenty-six this year; even that is overly valuing Lin Feng, making numerous high-level members of Spirit Array Master Holy Temple envious and jealous.

”Am I now qualified to sit here?” Lin Feng’s gaze looked pleasantly at the thin, grim-eyed Great Elder.

The Great Elder, with a forced smile, said, ”Since you are also a Great Elder of the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple, naturally you are qualified to sit here.”

”Great Elder Lin, allow me to introduce you; this is Grand Elder Zhuge Jian, this is Great Elder Tang Jiesheng, this is Great Elder Shui Caixia, and this is Great Elder Dou Yun!”

Nalan Yuanfang introduced four people to Lin Feng.

The thin, grim-eyed Great Elder was Zhuge Jian.

The mid-aged cultivator was Great Elder Tang Jiesheng.

The beautiful woman in a blue long dress was Great Elder Shui Caixia.

The elderly lady was Great Elder Dou Yun.

”Haha, so this is Great Elder Lin Feng, we’ve all heard plenty about your name!”

Tang Jiesheng rose and walked toward Lin Feng, with a smile on his face.

Shui Caixia charmedly smiled and said, ”Truly, a hero emerges among youths; your name, Great Elder Lin, has been heard long, but never had the opportunity to meet, finally today seeing you, it’s astonishing as an immortal.”

Dou Yun, Great Elder, smiled and said, ”Great Elder Lin is young and promising, I’ve admired you for a long time, finally getting the chance to meet today.”

...

Tang Jiesheng, Shui Caixia, Dou Yun, the three great elders, evidently, knew well how to conduct themselves, greeting with smiles.

Meanwhile, Zhuge Jian sat firmly, unmoved; Lin Feng did not mind Zhuge Jian’s attitude toward him.

For him, Zhuge Jian was merely a fleeting passerby.

He cupped his fists toward Tang Jiesheng, Shui Caixia, Dou Yun, three great elders, saying, ”You, Taoists, really flatter me, truly undeserving, first time here in the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple, everything is quite unfamiliar, many places in the future will need you Taoists to assist and remind me.”

Seeing Lin Feng with such a humble attitude, being courteous, Tang Jiesheng, Shui Caixia, Dou Yun felt quite flattered.

Face is something given mutually.

You give me face.

I give you face.

Lin Feng, although young, understands the way of conduct deep within.

After the four sat, Tang Jiesheng said, ”I heard Lin Daoist came here this time at the invitation of the four ancestors personally?”

Lin Feng nodded, saying, ”Indeed, this time, I was invited by the four ancestors.”

”Has Lin Daoist known about that matter?”, Shui Caixia smiled and asked.

Lin Feng showed a puzzled expression, saying, ”I don’t know what matter Daoist Shui refers to?”

Shui Caixia smiled and said, ”I heard about this matter yesterday from Vice Hall Master Murong; it’s said the four ancestors have already issued a command, appointing Lin Daoist as the chief examiner for the upcoming Spirit Array Master final in the Three Thousand States.”

”Oh? There is this matter?” Lin Feng was surprised.

Dou Yun Great Elder nodded, saying, ”This matter is true; I’ve also heard it, we should congratulate Lin Daoist.”

For Lin Feng, it truly is a matter worth celebrating.

This upcoming Spirit Array Master finals in the Three Thousand States will gather all Spirit Array Master talents.

Lin Feng being the chief examiner this time shows the four ancestors intend to have Lin Feng cultivate his own followers.

The signal is truly obvious; the four ancestors regard Lin Feng as a successor, so they make Lin Feng start cultivating his own people early.

Later, when Lin Feng truly takes over the authority of Spirit Array Master Holy Temple, there will be a group of followers, preventing power from being hollowed out.

Tang Jiesheng, Shui Caixia, Dou Yun, being so enthusiastic toward Lin Feng, clearly want to board Lin Feng’s soon-to-set-sail vessel.

”Hehe... the order hasn’t been issued yet, don’t spread rumors here, I believe the four ancestors will consider this prudently, among the four successors, two are already young, the fourth successor cannot still be from the younger crowd, certainly a stable and composed person will be appointed.”

Zhuge Jian, with a forced smile, said.

The successor of Spirit Array Master Holy Temple is not one but four.

Just like the current four ancestors of Spirit Array Master Holy Temple.

Each managing a portion of authority.

Also providing supervision among each other.

This is to prevent power from concentrating excessively.

Before Lin Feng, the four ancestors have already decided on three successors.

Yet, all these years, they have been searching arduously for the fourth successor.

But among the four ancestors always was unable to find a successor that satisfied them, until Lin Feng appeared.

But many are eyeing this position.

Lin Feng naturally will be resented by those eyeing this position.

This Zhuge Jian has always been passive-aggressive, Lin Feng suspects Zhuge Jian may be maneuvering this, upon hearing the four ancestors decided to appoint him as the fourth successor of the Spirit Array Master Holy Temple, Zhuge Jian felt jealousy, thus targeted him, Tang Jiesheng tried to rebuff twice, Lin Feng shook his head, indicating not to stoop to his level.

”Everyone not speaking, assumes my words are reasonable?” Zhuge Jian said, smugly.

Zhuge Jian has supporters, currently negotiating, so ultimately who becomes the fourth successor is still unknown.

If Zhuge Jian’s supporters succeed, Lin Feng might lose this chief examiner appointment, replaced by Zhuge Jian in this position, entirely possible.

”Lin Daoist didn’t stoop to your level, yet you keep pushing?” Tang Jiesheng coldly sneered.

Zhuge Jian sneered, ”Tang Jiesheng, don’t be the trailblazer, you’re hastily jumping out now, what if discovered you boarded the wrong ship, there’ll be tears then.”

Lin Feng frowned slightly, Zhuge Jian’s words were unpleasant, although ridiculing Tang Jiesheng, how could Lin Feng not perceive Zhuge Jian’s actual aim was him.
