Lackey's Seducing Survival Odyssey

Chapter 1679: Saving his Ass: Part-2

“My hand! My fucking hand!”

“Someone help me!”

“Medical emergency on Floor Eighty-Two!”

“Call an ambulance immediately!”

Near the centre of the destruction, the shattered remains of the bed finally stopped moving.

A groan emerged from beneath the debris.

“Arrh!”

Lackey slowly pushed himself upright.

His back felt as if someone had repeatedly struck it with a hammer.

Fragments of glass slid from his shoulders while dust drifted from his charred skin.

For several seconds, he simply stood there, breathing heavily.

Then he glanced downward.

Blood?

The sudden deceleration had torn skin apart despite his durability.

*Fuck… that hurts.*

His voice came out hoarse as he stared at the injuries.

“W-Who are you?!” one of the employees shouted, his voice trembling as he stared at the naked, charred stranger standing amidst the destruction.

Lackey barely acknowledged him.

The screams, the blood, the injured people begging for help, none of it seemed capable of holding his attention for more than a second.

Instead, his eyes drifted toward a fallen shard of glass lying among the debris. The reflective surface showed a distorted image of his body, and for the first time since waking up, he truly saw himself.

Burn marks stretched across his flesh, deep cracks ran over portions of his skin, and blackened patches covered large sections of his body. He looked like a corpse that had somehow forgotten to die.

*Fuck… what happened to me?* he muttered while crouching slightly to get a better look.

*I was supposed to die, right? Log, what the fuck happened?* His brows knitted together.

He remembered the beam clearly. That concentrated blast of energy should have erased him completely.

“Someone help her! Please, somebody, help her! She’s bleeding too much!” A middle-aged man knelt beside an injured woman while desperately pressing both hands against her neck. A jagged shard of glass had lodged itself deep into the side of her throat during the crash, and blood continuously leaked through the gaps between his fingers.

Lackey glanced toward them. His eyes lingered on the woman for a moment before shifting away.

There was no visible guilt in his expression.

No pity.

No remorse.

The injured woman, the blood covering the floor, the terrified civilians around him, all of it seemed strangely distant from him, as though he didn’t feel a fucking thing towards these people.

Suddenly,

[You have multiple Healing Potio—ERROR]

Lackey frowned.

The notification flickered violently.

[You-ERROR]

[S-Stop-ERROR]

[N-ERROR]

Something was wrong.

The Log had never behaved like this before. *What’s going on…* he muttered, but before he could finish speaking.

[TARGET FOUND]

Lackey’s head snapped upward.

Outside the shattered wall, dozens of drones surged toward the building.

Their sleek metallic bodies reflected the evening sunlight while blue anti-gravity thrusters burned beneath them.

Optical sensors glowed crimson as they locked onto the target. Several employees noticed them and froze.

Others instinctively backed away from the ruined wall.

Then,

[BEGIN ELIMINATION]

Every drone immediately entered combat mode. Panels unfolded along their bodies, revealing energy emitters and targeting systems. Blue light intensified around their weapons as power rapidly accumulated within the focusing chambers and,

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The entire office floor erupted into chaos.

Concentrated laser beams tore through desks, walls, and people alike. Furniture exploded into fragments while reinforced support structures cracked beneath repeated impacts.

“NOO-“

“HEL-“

“STOP-“

Employees who had survived the crash were caught completely off guard as the drones swept their fire across the floor with ruthless efficiency.

Men and women screamed while desperately trying to escape.

Some dove behind overturned workstations.

Others ran toward emergency exits.

None of it mattered. The drones simply continued firing. Their targeting systems did not distinguish between witnesses and threats.

Anything occupying the combat zone became acceptable collateral damage.

Within moments, the office transformed into a slaughterhouse.

Blood covered the shattered flooring. Smoke drifted through the air. Sparks rained from severed power conduits hanging from the ceiling.

Eventually, the firing stopped.

The drones hovered silently above the devastation while faint heat rippled from their weapon systems. Blue scanning beams emerged from their sensors and swept methodically across the ruined floor.

Several seconds passed before one of the drones displayed a new message across its visual interface.

[TARGET NOT FOUND]

The machine paused.

[SEARCHING LOCATION]

A holographic city map immediately unfolded above the lead drone. Thousands of streets, transit routes, skyscrapers, and transportation corridors appeared in miniature form before a single red marker suddenly illuminated near the southern place.

The marker moved rapidly through the city grid, crossing streets far faster than an ordinary human should have been capable of.

[TARGET LOCATED]

[MOVE]

The drones immediately rotated in unison and accelerated away from the building. Blue propulsion trails streaked across the evening sky as dozens of machines vanished into the distance, leaving behind nothing but silence, flashing emergency lights, and… a floor soaked in fucking blood!

Meanwhile, Lackey sprinted through the city faster than ordinary eyes could properly track.

To pedestrians, he appeared as nothing more than a fleeting blur slipping between crowds and traffic.

His feet hammered against the pavement while futuristic advertisements flashed overhead, casting shifting colours across the streets.

Spotting a narrow alley between two commercial buildings, Lackey instantly changed direction and disappeared into it.

The moment he reached the shadows, he leaned heavily against the wall and breathed out. One hand rested against the concrete while the other clenched around his knee.

“Fuck…” he groaned, tilting his head back against the wall. *My life turned into hell the moment I arrived here.*

With a flick of thought, a familiar bottle materialised in his hand.

A high-grade healing potion.

The liquid inside shimmered with a faint emerald glow. Sera and Helena had spent the day and night preparing these for him. They had worried endlessly, stuffing his storage with enough healing supplies to survive an apocalypse.

At the time, he had found their concern excessive.

Now he was carrying hundreds of them.

*They really were worried about me, huh…*

His smile softened… genuinely.

Then he uncorked the bottle and drank.

The familiar warmth spread through his body immediately. Unlike before, the healing effect felt sluggish. The potion still worked, but something had clearly changed. Injuries that once would have disappeared in seconds now heal at a frustratingly slow pace.

Lackey sighed.

*Better than nothing.*

Sliding down slightly, he rested against the wall and stared upward toward the narrow strip of evening sky visible between the towering buildings.

*I need to contact Epsilon somehow…* he muttered thoughtfully. *But how the hell am I supposed to do that in a world I know nothing about?*

The city lights reflected in his eyes as countless possibilities ran through his head.

Then another thought surfaced.

*Hey, Log… what exactly happ–*

[TARGET FOUND!]

“…”

Lackey froze and turned his head.

His expression immediately became blank.

The end of the alley was filled with drones.

Not dozens.

Hundreds.

At least two hundred combat drones hovered above the streets and rooftops. Their metallic bodies reflected the city’s neon lights while countless crimson sensors locked directly onto his position. Some floated between buildings. Others occupied the sky above. Several perched atop nearby structures like predators observing prey.

Every single one was looking at him.

Lackey blinked.

*How?*

That didn’t make sense.

He had crossed multiple streets.

Changed directions repeatedly.

Used a crowded place as cover.

Taken indirect routes.

The drones should have lost him.

Yet they had located him almost immediately.

How?

Did they implant some kind of tracking device?

No.

He would have noticed.

There was no way something inside-Wait!

Then his thoughts abruptly stopped.

His gaze lowered.

Toward his wrist.

The cuff.

The metallic cuff remained attached to his left wrist. Although its surface had been scorched and cracked during everything that had happened, faint blue energy still pulsed beneath the damaged metal. Tiny streams of light flickered across hidden circuitry buried within the device.

For several seconds, Lackey simply stared at it.

*Of course…. Of course, it’s this motherfucker.*

Without hesitation, he slammed the cuff against the wall.

BANG!

The impact left a crater in the concrete.

The cuff remained intact.

Lackey slammed it again.

BANG!

Cracks spread through the wall.

The cuff remained intact.

His expression darkened.

*What the hell did they make this thing out of?!*

The drones immediately reacted.

Their sensors detected hostile movement.

Weapon systems activated.

Blue energy surged through their emitters.

Lackey’s instincts screamed.

STEP!

His body vanished from the alley.

The moment the first laser barrage erupted, he had already appeared dozens of meters away.

The drones moved instantly.

Every drone displayed a live tracking marker.

A red indicator continuously updated his location.

No matter how fast he moved, they always knew where he was.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

While sprinting through the city, Lackey repeatedly smashed the cuff against walls, support pillars, and reinforced structures. Every impact sent vibrations up his arm.

Fragments of concrete exploded outward.

The cuff refused to break.

It was already heavily cracked.

Its surface looked one strike away from destruction.

Yet somehow it remained functional.

Even when he tried pulling it apart directly, it didn’t budge.

Not even slightly.

The thing was absurd.

“Tsk.”

Lackey clicked his tongue.

*I need another solution.*

His gaze shifted toward his right hand.

*’Maybe I should just cut it off.’*

For a brief moment, he genuinely considered it.

Remove the hand.

Remove the tracker.

Problem solved.

Then another face appeared in his mind.

Nyx.

The memory instantly made him grimace.

He shook his head.

*No, no, no.*

His pace never slowed as he sprinted through the city.

*I promised Nyx… I promised I wouldn’t do stupid shit that hurts me.*

*What should I do…* Lackey muttered while sprinting through the city, his feet hammering against the pavement as skyscrapers flashed past in a blur.

His mind raced through dozens of possibilities before a sudden thought made him slow slightly. *Hm… wait…* His eyes drifted toward the damaged restraint attached to his wrist.

The metal cuff was already covered in cracks from repeated impacts and several direct energy blasts. Faint blue light leaked from the fractures, and portions of the outer shell looked ready to crumble at any moment.

*It’s already half broken from their stupid energy weapons…* he muttered before abruptly turning into another alley.

The moment he was hidden from public view, he opened his storage and summoned a gun into his hands.

Looking at the weapon pointed toward his arm made him hesitate for half a second. *Let’s hope this doesn’t blow off my hand.*

The crooked smile never left his face as he pulled the trigger.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Each shot slammed into the damaged restraint with enough force to send painful vibrations through his arm.

CRACK!

BUFFF!

Far above the city, hundreds of combat drones continued racing toward his last recorded position.

Their tracking systems constantly exchanged information through a synchronised network while a bright red marker displayed Lackey’s location in real time.

!!

[NO DEVICE DETECTED]

Then the signal abruptly vanished. Every drone stopped simultaneously. Hundreds of machines froze in midair, their anti-gravity engines humming softly as confused pedestrians below stared upward.

The red marker disappeared.

Scanning protocols immediately intensified.

Optical sensors shifted from crimson to blue.

[TARGET: LACKEY]

[STATUS: SIGNAL LOST]

[REQUIRES FURTHER ORDERS FROM GENOME BETA]

Across the city, emergency response teams mobilised within seconds.

Black armoured with ‘β’ vans sped through priority traffic corridors while police systems automatically cleared routes ahead of them.

Minutes later, the vehicles arrived at the alley where the signal had vanished.

Their doors opened simultaneously, and soldiers wearing black powered armour accented with glowing pink stripes stepped onto the pavement.

Pulse weapons remained raised as they advanced carefully through the alley, expecting resistance.

Instead, they found only fragments of the destroyed cuff scattered across the ground. One of the mech-suits crouched beside the debris and picked up the largest remaining piece.

White energy particles still leaked from the damaged circuitry, indicating the destruction had occurred only moments earlier.

The mech-suit silently examined the remains before activating a secure communication channel.

“Inform the President. Genome Beta’s current whereabouts are unknown. The Brought Slave has successfully escaped.”

Several nearby soldiers immediately exchanged glances. That statement alone was enough to make the situation catastrophic.

Then the officer’s scanner highlighted something unusual within the broken restraint. He rotated the fragment and stared at the empty slot that should have had a device.

“Sir,” he said, “the AIL is missing.”
