Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2008: Chapter 2018: Why Did You Issue That Statement?

Meanwhile, half an hour ago at the Military Hospital, Adam Sinclair had already heard about the incident at the advertising set. His face turned cold as he got up from the hospital bed, ignoring the doctor’s and nurse’s attempts to stop him.

”Prepare the car.”

”Yes, President Sinclair.” The secretary didn’t dare defy his orders and had to comply as instructed.

In a short while, he had arranged the car and entered the room with the suit Adam had requested.

”Come in.”

The man on the hospital bed had already gotten up. After a few days of rest, he could at least stand up with difficulty. But the price of standing was the piercing pain in his injured left leg.

Adam’s face was pale, but his thin lips were pressed tight, emanating a powerful sense of pressure.

The secretary handed over the suit, speaking softly, ”President Sinclair, perhaps I could go to Ms. Lewis’s side on your behalf. The doctor said...”

”Ignore what the doctor said,” Adam interrupted him. ”Is the car I asked you to prepare ready?”

The secretary did not dare to say more and bowed his head respectfully, ”It’s been prepared as per your instructions.”

”Alright, I’ll change clothes, and then we’ll leave.”

”Yes.”

In less than ten minutes, the man who should have been lying in the hospital bed was already dressed in a suit. With the secretary’s help, he took the elevator and left the hospital.

Every step for him was like walking on a knife’s edge, but each step was steady and determined—

Olivia Lewis was completely unaware that Adam Sinclair had already heard about what happened at the set. At the moment, she was cornered by August Oliver, facing his defiant and pained face. Bracing herself, she made up her mind. ”I’m sorry, August Oliver, I don’t know how to express how sorry I am.”

At the concert, she really had feelings for a moment.

That feeling might not mean she fell for him instantly, but at least at that moment, his actions truly changed her mind. In that instant, she genuinely wanted to be courageous and try again, try to like someone again.

But she hadn’t had the chance to do so when it became impossible.

She didn’t know what to do to protect him. In that situation, all she wanted was not to implicate him. After all, in her war with Adam Sinclair, August Oliver was the most innocent person.

If August Oliver were truly blacklisted because of her, affecting his career, she would be drowned in guilt.

So she chose the simplest, yet the way to protect him to the greatest extent, by issuing that statement.

Olivia Lewis lowered her head, almost not daring to look into his eyes. She had never owed anyone before, but this time, she felt she owed the young man in front of her.

”I shouldn’t have agreed to you from the start. I’m sorry, I didn’t expect to cause you to nearly be blacklisted. August Oliver, just pretend like nothing happened before. I’ll transfer the 450 thousand to your manager, I...”

Before she could finish her sentence, her wrist was grabbed. August Oliver drew closer, speaking each word with force, ”You think I’m here asking about the statement today because you almost got me blacklisted?”

Olivia Lewis bit her lip, not knowing how to answer, ”...I’m sorry.”

August Oliver’s defiant face flashed with pain as he gritted his teeth and said, ”I didn’t ask about this because I nearly got blacklisted. I know about you and him, and I’ve never blamed you.”

He just hated, hated how weak he was!

Hated that in such a situation, he could only watch as she ruined her own career, issuing that statement just to protect him from the whirlpool of public opinion.
