Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1045: Chapter 1045: Since When Has Young Master Cared So Much About Anyone Chapter 1045: Chapter 1045: Since When Has Young Master Cared So Much About Anyone Forty minutes later, the housekeeper returned with the doctor.

The doctor began to examine Old Master Lawrence’s body.

Enna Clark silently tidied up the room and then left with the empty bowl. During this time, she neither busied herself with offering help nor hovered around the doctor with incessant questions to show her concern.

Old Master Lawrence saw her quietly leaving the room, and a more complex emotion flickered in his sharp eyes.

He seemed to have a headache and, after watching for a few seconds, closed his eyes again.

After the doctor had finished the routine check-up, he stood up respectfully and said, “Old Lord is not in serious trouble. It’s just that his mood swings have been quite severe these past few days, causing him to be mentally congested with the hernia catching in his chest and making his sleep quality poor at night. Moreover, catching a cold from the draft has led him to fall ill. Such a condition only requires plenty of rest and taking medication on time, and he will be fine. However…”

The housekeeper immediately followed up with, “However, what?”

The doctor hesitated, then continued bravely, “Ultimately, Old Lord, it’s the cold is just a superficial cause; it’s the emotional distress that is the root cause of the illness. To recover quickly, the most important thing is to adjust the mood. Once the mood improves, the health naturally follows.”

The old man, propped up in his grand, luxurious bed, behaved as if he heard nothing, eyes still closed. Even with his eyes shut, he exuded an intense sense of oppression, a regal forcefulness that seemed innate! Proud! Untouchable!

The housekeeper, noticing no reaction, couldn’t tell if the Old Master took the doctor’s words to heart. Not daring to ask, he could only send the doctor out.

Then he came back, took out the medication prescribed by the doctor, prepared it, fetched a cup of water, and walked over, speaking softly, “Old Lord, please take your medicine first, and then rest.”

He added another sentence, “By the way, when I went to find the doctor, Miss Clark kindly helped to take care of you. Miss Clark said she would cook porridge for you. I’m not sure if you have eaten it. If not, I will immediately arrange for someone to make it. You shouldn’t take medicine on an empty stomach.”

“Since when did it take over an hour to summon a doctor?” Old Master Lawrence suddenly opened his eyes and sharply turned his gaze toward him, “I’ve said not to make unilateral decisions. You’ve been with me for decades and have never crossed the lines of our rules. Why this time, for her sake, do you disregard them?”

“With your years of service, you should be very clear about my temperament and you know the consequences of your actions. What benefit has she given you… That’s not right, what is it about her that moved you, to the point where you’re willing to risk angering me to help her?”

The housekeeper quickly bowed his head, ridden with guilt, and said, “I’m sorry, Old Lord.”

“I want your reason for this,” Old Master Lawrence’s questions were sharp one after another, but his demeanor did not seem as furious as imagined, unexpectedly giving off a calm disposition.

The housekeeper first lifted his head to look at him, then bowed it again, speaking softly, “Miss Clark’s character is indeed impeccable, and her nature is very good, complementing the Young Master well. But the reason I made up my mind to do this was not because of Miss Clark; it’s…”

“Yes?”

The housekeeper took a deep breath and spoke the truth, “It’s the Young Master.”

“I can tell that the Young Master truly likes Ms. Clark. Last night, Young Master made the thousand paper cranes for her, even braving the rain and personally going into the water to fetch them. How often have I seen the Young Master care so much for someone? To tell the truth, apart from Ms. Clark, I have not seen a second person who is like that.”
