”Hmm, huh? Reached the Refining Star First Layer Peak?” As Liu Qingzhu was dealing with civil clerk duties, he sensed the change in Xu Jin’s aura, and abruptly sat up straight, leaning slightly forward, the thickness of his chest immediately landing on the desk.

Feeling that it was inappropriate for a student to see him like this, the recently upright Liu Qingzhu leaned back again, and the weapon that had been on the desk bounced up and down, prompting Xu Jin to quickly avert his eyes.

”Yes, Teacher, I reached the Refining Star First Layer Peak this morning, so I came to you to learn the Star Pattern,” Xu Jin said.

”Ah, the Star Pattern, I have already prepared it for you.”

Liu Qingzhu directly took out a piece of jade, set it on the desk in front of him, and signaled Xu Jin to take it.

As Xu Jin stood up to take the jade, since he was standing and Liu Qingzhu was sitting, even though Liu Qingzhu’s clothing was not low-cut, Xu Jin still saw plenty of his pale skin and deep cleavage.

His ears flushed in an instant.

He quickly picked up the jade and sat back down at his seat.

”This is a Mid-tier Fire Origin Star Pattern of the Fourth-tier Upper rank; within the entire Taoist Institute, it’s the highest rank Mid-tier Fire Origin Star Pattern. Within the whole of Dachen, only the Wanyi Ji Family has a Fifth Tier Fire Origin Star Pattern.

With the effects of your Red Scale Heart combined, your Fire Series Star Skill’s might will not be inferior to a disciple from the Star Hall,” Liu Qingzhu said.

Xu Jin stood up and hurriedly expressed his thanks.

”After you successfully engrave it, combined with your refined Red Scale Heart, it should greatly increase your combat power! However, do not publicize it, as according to the Institute’s rules, they usually only teach the Initial Tier Fire Origin Star Pattern of Fourth Tier and below, and later they will gradually teach advanced Star Patterns,

both for the sake of gradual progress and to test the disciples’ temperament.

In your case, I am giving it all to you directly.

Of course, if you find engraving it difficult, you can also come to me to learn the Initial Tier Fire Origin Star Pattern of the Third Tier,” Liu Qingzhu said.

”If it’s really that difficult, I will come to find you, Teacher,” Xu Jin once again expressed his gratitude.

This alone proved that choosing Liu Qingzhu as his teacher was the right decision.

The Taoist Institute’s teaching of Star Patterns also had its own set of rules, always taking a step-by-step approach, not teaching everything all at once but increasing it gradually according to your performance and strength improvement.

This is friendly to ordinary disciples, but for someone like Xu Jin, the restrictions were somewhat significant.

”Any other questions?”

”Teacher, the movement technique-related Star Pattern you mentioned earlier, could you teach it to me in advance? I want to familiarize myself with it beforehand so that I can engrave it as soon as possible when my cultivation level is sufficient,” Xu Jin said.

”Yes, I can do that!”

Liu Qingzhu thought for a moment and said, ”Xu Jin, in terms of movement techniques, I consider myself second to none in the Institute; no one dares to claim to be faster. At the same level of cultivation, my speed is unmatched.

However, I have two sources for my movement technique Star Pattern, one from the National Taoist Institute, and the other from our Liu Family.

The National Taoist Institute has a Fourth-tier Upper rank Meteor Star Pattern, focusing on speed and burst power.

Whereas the Willow Catkins Star Pattern from our Liu Clan also considers speed and the agility and unpredictability of the movement technique, it’s of a high rank, a Sixth Tier Lower tradition of our clan, and the foundation of our family.

Right now, I can pass on the Fourth Tier Upper rank Willow Catkins Star Pattern to you!

But if you want to learn the Sixth Tier Lower rank Willow Catkins Star Pattern of our Liu Clan, it’s impossible for now. You must achieve certain accomplishments before I can persuade our clan leader to pass our Liu Clan’s secret Willow Catkins Star Pattern on to you,” Liu Qingzhu said.

”Achieve certain accomplishments? May I ask, Teacher, what kind of accomplishments would I need?” Xu Jin inquired.

”That depends on your relative performance! For example, in a few months, if you can still be the First True Inheritor of this session, or during the Lougong Battle in two months, if you can make it into the top ten, my clan leader will also look upon you favorably.

Things like these, as long as your performance is sufficiently outstanding, I can persuade my clan leader to pass on the secret Sixth Tier Lower Willow Catkins Star Pattern of the Liu Clan to you,” Liu Qingzhu said.

”I understand! Teacher, may I ask, what are the specific manifestations of the differences in ranks of Star Patterns?” Xu Jin asked.

”Of course, it’s the might of the Star Skill.”

”Basically, a small rank difference represents a ten percent difference in might.

For instance, the same person learning a Mid-tier Fire Origin Star Pattern of the Fourth Tier Upper, as opposed to learning an Initial Tier Fire Origin Star Pattern of the Third Tier Upper, will see a thirty percent difference in Star Skill might!

This kind of power difference is more frightening the higher the cultivation level!

Once reaching the Sixth and Seventh Tier and above, a three small rank difference in Star Pattern rank might result in an insurmountable gap,” Liu Qingzhu explained.

This, Xu Jin understood.

The larger the base number, the greater the disparity in the later stages.

”Which one do you want to learn? As before, given your talent, I will directly teach you the top Star Pattern related to the field, rather than teaching you a low-tier Pattern first and then making you pass an assessment for a new one,” Liu Qingzhu asked.

After some thought, Xu Jin felt both Star Patterns were quite suitable for him.

The Meteor Star Pattern of the National Taoist Institute mainly focused on speed and burst, which seemed better suited for escaping danger.

While the Liu Clan’s Willow Catkins Star Pattern accounted for both speed and the cleverness and unpredictability of the movement technique, making it more useful in actual combat.

Naturally, he needed to learn the one with more practical combat utility first.

Moreover, the Willow Catkins Star Pattern currently being passed to Xu Jin was Fourth Tier Upper, but there were higher ranked patterns available with more growth potential.

Xu Jin initially chose the Willow Catkins Star Pattern, but as he was about to speak, he boldly asked, ”Teacher, I want to learn both the Meteor and Willow Catkins Star Patterns. Can you teach me both?”

This was something he could only dare to ask of Liu Qingzhu. If it were the atmosphere at the Academician Fang Shihan’s, Xu Jin wouldn’t have dared to be so bold.
