Alchemy Master

Chapter 1142, Setting Out

Translator: Silavin

Though the Silent Forest was indeed notorious, it could surely not be the sort of Dangerous Territory that left the Myriad Races despairing.

What was more, since Lord Mo Sheng had placed the first trial there, he had naturally taken note of its value for tempering. This indirectly implied that within the Silent Forest, even if survival odds were slim, there would still be a path through.

Nevertheless, a portion of people were indeed cowed by the Silent Forest’s fierce reputation and had no further thoughts of trying their luck.

After all, the outstanding young talents who had come to Myriad Beasts City were overwhelmingly the finest geniuses of their respective Races. Many of them had absolutely no need to rashly charge into the Silent Forest for the sake of something that was nearly impossible to achieve. One careless step, and they could very well leave their lives behind in there.

Moreover, the number of people participating in Lord Mo Sheng’s recruitment trial was at the very least in the tens of thousands.

The Silent Forest lay outside the boundaries of the neutral zone of the Myriad Beasts Domain. Once there, what would be most dangerous was perhaps not the Demonic Beasts, but the hidden hands of other Races striking from the dark!

After all, eliminating one person was equivalent to removing one competitor. And who knew, there might even be a small windfall to be had.

“The Silent Forest, is it?” After a brief moment of contemplation, the corners of Qin Yichen’s mouth curved into an eager arc.

Among the Human Race, he had already seen virtually all of the outstanding figures of the younger generation. Right now, an opportunity this good for broadening his horizons was not something he was willing to pass up.

Not long after Mo Yao had departed, Qing Luan came to the Soaring Joy Chamber of Commerce and invited Qin Yichen to travel together with him.

Qin Yichen accepted Qing Luan’s invitation directly.

His reputation was not insignificant at this point. Yet precisely because of the extraordinary nature of the Pills he had produced, who knew how many gazes were watching him covertly with hungry eyes.

The Silent Forest did not belong to the neutral zone of the Myriad Beasts Domain. Once there, there would certainly be no shortage of jealous individuals who would make a move against him.

After all, if they could seize the Pill Formula from him, that would be a tremendous windfall for any Race.

As the outstanding young talent of the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race, Qing Luan’s strength was considered top tier even among Martial Ancestors.

Travelling together with him, combined with the name of the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race, a Top Tier Race, would be enough to deter quite a few petty villains. This way, Qin Yichen could also save himself a fair amount of trouble.

…

The following day, as the first ray of morning light tore open the horizon and illuminated the earth, the entirety of Myriad Beasts City fell into a kind of upheaval.

High in the sky, the piercing sound of wind being split apart rang out ceaselessly.

Figures streaked out like locusts from the wide city gates, rushing and soaring in the direction of the Silent Forest.

Before long, the sky outside Myriad Beasts City was already blanketed with a heaven-covering, earth-filling mass of figures. From below, streams of silhouettes continued to rush up, joining this terrifying sea of people.

The vast majority of those figures were going to attempt Lord Mo Sheng’s first trial with a ‘let’s give it a shot’ mentality. There were also many who did not meet the requirements yet still wanted to come and witness the spectacle.

“Truly a magnificent sight.”

At the gates of Myriad Beasts City, Qin Yichen lifted his gaze towards the seemingly endless sea of people and could not help but sigh in admiration.

Within merely a single corner of this continent, the news of one Supreme Expert’s Disciple recruitment had spread and drawn such an immense gathering of experts.

Moreover, from that overwhelming mass of figures, Qin Yichen could sense a number of concealed yet formidable auras. Evidently, there were quite a few hidden dragons and crouching tigers among them.

“Brother Qin, let us go off as well.” Qing Luan gave a light laugh and said.

Qin Yichen gave a slight nod, and immediately the two of them stepped forward, their figures transforming into streaks of light, shooting off in the same direction together with the rest of that mass of silhouettes.

And with Qin Yichen’s departure, from the shadows near the city gates, several figures also swiftly vanished.

A Pill effective for every Race, with multiple effects at that. Within Myriad Beasts City, constrained by the rules, no one had dared make a public move against him…

Yet that temptation, even with Qing Luan travelling by Qin Yichen’s side, was enough to set the hearts of many greedy individuals.

…

Under the two’s swift pace, they gradually left the swarm of people behind them like a mass of locusts.

In no more than half a day, as the sounds of fighting began to ring out, Qin Yichen knew he had already left the boundaries of the Myriad Beasts Domain.

Among the Myriad Races, neutral places like the Myriad Beasts Domain were rare after all. And they could only maintain the rules within their own territory. The moment one stepped outside that region, that tacitly accepted code of conduct would instantly crumble.

“In another half an hour, we will arrive at the Silent Forest.”

Paying no mind to the sounds of battle that periodically erupted around them, Qing Luan fixed his gaze on the distance and said.

For people like them, killing and plundering were commonplace sights, far from unusual. In fact, after spending time in Myriad Beasts City, it was that atmosphere of peace and harmony that made them feel somewhat ill at ease.

“Brother Qing Luan, is the Silent Forest truly as frightening as people say?” Qin Yichen also withdrew his thoughts and asked.

“Regarding the rumours about the Silent Forest, they are not lying. Even for Saints who enter it, one cannot say they have absolute certainty of passing through safely.” Mentioning this, Qing Luan’s expression tightened slightly.

“If even Saints can barely make it out in one piece, how are we supposed to get through?” Qin Yichen furrowed his brow and asked in puzzlement.

By that account, would this not be a bloodbath?

Moreover, this was nothing like those Sects of the Human Race recruiting Disciples, where protective measures were still put in place. As a Supreme Expert, Mo Sheng could not possibly have any compassionate intent to protect every single one of them.

Those who could not pass the trial simply had no qualifications to become his Disciple. Their survival had nothing whatsoever to do with him.

Out here, one’s life was worth scarcely more than a blade of grass. Die, and that was that. There might not even be anyone to collect the body.

“It seems Brother Qin has not spent much time travelling the land.” Qing Luan smiled and said. “Over the course of history, although the Silent Forest has remained as notorious as ever, predecessors have explored it countless times. The paths those predecessors walked have all been recorded and drawn into maps. So, finding a relatively safe route through the Silent Forest is not actually that difficult.”

Hearing this, Qin Yichen quietly let out a breath of relief.

As expected. What symbolised death to Minor Races like the Charming Fox Race was, in the eyes of a Top Tier Race like the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race, not actually that terrifying. They had long since worked out a safe passage.

Those drawn maps surely did not belong only to the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race. Only, the safety of those maps perhaps varied somewhat in degree.
