Alchemy Master

Chapter 1138, Making Connections

Translator: Silavin

A Supreme Expert taking on a Disciple, with no restriction on Race.

This sort of event would naturally capture the attention of every outstanding young talent across the continent, and even the Top Tier Races were not about to let such a momentous opportunity slip past them.

To stand out and become Mo Shang’s Disciple was an opportunity capable of altering one’s entire destiny.

Even someone from a Second Tier Race, upon becoming Mo Shang’s Disciple, would see not only themselves but the Force standing behind them elevated to the very peak of the First Tier. And should that person later inherit their Master’s mantle and rise to become a Supreme Expert themselves, they might even one day carve out a place of standing among the Top Tier Races.

The Top Tier Races were each existences that had endured through long ages. In the past hundred thousand years or more, not a single Force had successfully ascended into their ranks.

From this alone, one could see how extraordinarily difficult it was for Races that had never produced a Supreme Expert to break through to that level.

But for anyone fortunate enough to become Mo Shang’s Disciple, there existed a very real possibility of glimpsing, through that connection, the chance to reach that very step.

Even so, the number of youths who had come rushing here on account of Mo Shang’s search for a Disciple was simply beyond counting, at least in the tens of thousands.

Furthermore, the overwhelming majority of those who had come were the brightest standouts from their respective Races, including even exceptional figures from Top Tier Races such as Qing Luan.

The difficulty of distinguishing oneself from among such a multitude of geniuses was immense.

As for Qin Yichen, he approached this matter with something of a mindset of simply trying his luck.

While travelling across the continent, he did have his Pills to rely upon, enough to make his name known throughout all the Races. But compared to the name of a Supreme Expert, that kind of renown was far too inferior.

Only absolute martial strength as a foundation would allow one to travel freely and unhindered across the continent.

Absolutely no one would be willing to provoke a Supreme Expert’s Disciple, particularly when that Supreme Expert was one approaching the end of their lifespan. Such a person, once roused to fury, would be something even a Top Tier Race would struggle to withstand.

“Brother Qing Luan, when exactly does this begin?” After listening to everything Qing Luan had said, Qin Yichen paused, then asked.

“Judging by the timing, it should be very soon now.” Watching Qin Yichen’s expression, Qing Luan’s eyes narrowed slightly. [Sure enough he has also come to be selected as Mo Shang’s Disciple.]

Yet unlike the other Top Tier Race geniuses who would have regarded a rival with palpable hostility, Qing Luan harboured none of it.

Qing Luan understood quite well just how difficult it was to stand out from so many competitors. Even as a genius from a Top Tier Race, he himself had no absolute certainty of success.

After all, talents comparable to himself, while not exactly everywhere, numbered at least seven or eight who had come this time.

Relatively speaking, the greater part of Qing Luan’s goal in making this journey was to forge connections with talented individuals that hold promise.

The Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race had already entered a period of considerable peril. Their Supreme Expert was not far from the end of their lifespan, and yet no one within the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race had managed to break through to that level.

Once that Supreme Expert fell, the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race as a whole would face an enormous blow. When that day came, never mind retaining their standing as a Top Tier Race, the question of whether they could even continue to exist upon the continent would be in doubt.

On this journey, obtaining Lord Mo Shang’s inheritance would naturally be the ideal outcome. But if fate did not align, forging connections with outstanding peers of his own generation would be no poor result either.

When the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race’s crisis erupted, even if he could not draw the Races he had befriended to his side, persuading them to remain neutral should not be difficult.

It was for this reason that, the moment he witnessed Qin Yichen defeat Yao Jie in the Alchemy Duel, he had cast aside all concern for his own dignity and rushed over at the greatest speed he could manage.

What surprised him most was the Pills Qin Yichen had produced. He had initially assumed it was nothing more than empty boasting and deception, yet even he had not anticipated that Pills of this kind, which ought to have been impossible to exist, were real.

It was not difficult to imagine that this news would sweep across the continent in a short span of time, and the entire continent would go mad over these Pills.

When that time came, the young man before him would without question become a figure sought after by everyone. Through these Pills alone, his standing in the eyes of other Races would rival even that of the Medicine Race.

“Oh, many thanks to Brother Qing Luan for the information.” Finding that Qing Luan harboured no hostility whatsoever, Qin Yichen was somewhat surprised, yet he expressed his thanks politely.

After all, regarding the Supreme Expert’s Disciple selection, he had in truth only learnt a little of it through Mei Ler, and was entirely unclear on the specific details, even down to when it was set to begin.

“*Ha ha ha!* Brother Qin, you are too polite. Having you as a friend is my good fortune.” Qing Luan laughed heartily.

Watching Qing Luan’s mannerism, Qin Yichen could not help but let out a quiet internal sigh.

If things proceeded as they naturally would, the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race was destined to vanish from the continent. Even if they escaped annihilation, they would certainly suffer devastating losses, and those who managed to survive that catastrophe would be few and far between.

In truth, Qin Yichen understood Qing Luan’s current state of mind rather well.

After all, the Human Race had long existed at the very edge of this same kind of crisis.

And now, the Saints Heavenly Manor Master was already advanced in years, his own lifespan was set to expire even sooner than that of the Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race’s Supreme Expert.

Once the Human Race lost that sole Supreme Expert of theirs, they too would face a catastrophic calamity.

“Since Brother Qing Luan is willing to call me your friend, I shall hold nothing back either.” As though something had occurred to him, Qin Yichen set his jaw, made a quiet decision inwardly, then with a turn of his palm, retrieved two fruits from within his Space Ring.

“These are…” Seeing Qin Yichen’s action, Qing Luan’s pupils contracted sharply.

With his eyesight, he could see perfectly well that those two fruits had not been drawn from Qin Yichen’s sleeve, but had appeared from thin air.

Which meant that somewhere on this young man, there was something capable of storing space.

A storage space, even among the Top Tier Races, was an extraordinarily rare thing.

The Heaven Devouring Green Marten Race too possessed only a handful of such items, and those were held by a few of the older generation, having been passed down through the hands of countless previous owners.

Even Qing Luan himself, the most outstanding youth his Race had to offer, had no standing to acquire such a thing.

And yet here before him, this young man who appeared no older than twenty or so actually carried something so rare and precious beyond measure.

In that instant, even Qing Luan’s heart could not help but stir with a faint flicker of something unusual.

Yet when his gaze came to rest upon the two fruits in Qin Yichen’s hand, that feeling vanished completely without a trace, replaced entirely by a wave of deep and overwhelming shock.
