Chapter 1053, Drawn Swords and Bent Bows

Qin Yichen glanced at Avril beside him, who had recovered substantially over the past few days. “Since they’re gone, I should get going as well.”

“Can I… come with you?” Avril asked Qin Yichen rather timidly.

Hearing this, Qin Yichen could not help but feel somewhat troubled. The Blood Beastmen he had encountered here were clearly targeting Avril. Though it appeared they had abandoned searching this area, Qin Yichen was certain they would not give up so easily.

They had already made their move against someone of the Elf Race Royal Family. If they allowed Avril to return to the Elf Race, it would undoubtedly bring enormous trouble to the Blood Beastmen Race.

Therefore, if he travelled with Avril, the journey would certainly not be peaceful.

However…

Watching the little girl holding his hands, Qin Yichen could not help but feel increasingly troubled.

He did not quite understand how, in just a few short days with barely any extended conversation, Little Ling’er and Avril had already developed a tendency to band together.

“Big Brother Qin, where are you heading? I can show you the way.” As if afraid Qin Yichen would abandon her, Avril hastily added.

“Fine. I’m heading to the Elf Race anyway. Even if we encounter Blood Beastmen, with you, escaping should be somewhat easy.” Thinking this, Qin Yichen nodded helplessly.

“Yay! Thank you, Big Brother Qin!” Hearing this, excitement surfaced on Avril’s delicate face. She impulsively gave Qin Yichen a quick peck, then immediately retreated.

“Oh yeah, where did you come from? Who refined that Pill you gave me? Why was it so effective?”

“…”

With Avril joining them, Qin Yichen’s journey no longer seemed as monotonous as before. Particularly after Avril’s arrival, Little Ling’er became far more talkative.

The two travelled together, practically becoming inseparable friends who discussed everything. Their childishly innocent topics seemed to transcend all racial boundaries.

“Careful! There’s that unpleasant scent ahead. Those annoying bastards are there!” As they swiftly traversed through the dense forest, a breeze suddenly passed. Avril’s footsteps halted abruptly, her pretty face changing expression as she spoke with some trepidation.

“They still haven’t given up?” Hearing this, Qin Yichen’s expression immediately shifted. With a sweep of his hand, he pulled both of them into a cluster of undergrowth.

Above the forest before them, the sound of rushing wind suddenly arose. Then, they witnessed two Blood Beastmen, carrying a fishy, foul odour, flying over from a distance.

[Seriously!] Sensing those somewhat familiar Blood Beastmen, Qin Yichen’s eyes turned slightly cold.

It seemed these people still had not abandoned their search at all. They had merely expanded their search radius. [Truly lingering spirits that refused to depart!]

Just after Qin Yichen had concealed himself, the two Blood Beastmen stopped in the airspace above them. Immediately following, numerous fierce auras emerged from all directions, entering Qin Yichen’s perception.

In mere moments, the Captain of their group, along with numerous Blood Beastmen Qin Yichen had assumed had already withdrawn, all appeared in the sky above this area.

“Captain, we still haven’t found them…” As the numerous Blood Beastmen gathered, each wore an ugly expression.

“How is it possible they left no traces? Could they truly have escaped?” The Blood Beastman Captain’s brows furrowed tightly, his violent aura continuously surging from his body. During these past days, he had not abandoned the search for even a moment. This was not because of his perseverance, but because if this mission failed, only death awaited him!

“No matter what, even if we must dig three feet into the ground, you will find them for me! Otherwise, you all understand the consequences!” The Blood Beastman Captain shouted sternly.

Hearing this, the numerous Blood Beastmen seemed to recall the methods of the Elder behind them, their bodies trembling violently.

The Blood Beastmen, already somewhat fatigued, gritted their teeth and prepared to continue searching.

“Captain…”

Just then, two more Blood Beastmen flew over. In their hands, they carried a brown-haired elf.

At this moment, this brown-haired elf’s clothing was dishevelled, her hair in disarray, blue blood continuously dripping from her body. If not for her chest still rising and falling slightly, one might already think her dead.

“Jasmine!” Upon seeing that brown-haired elf, Avril suddenly cried out in alarm.

[You idiot!] Qin Yichen’s expression changed as he hastily covered Avril’s small mouth.

“Who’s there!”

However, Qin Yichen’s movement was still a fraction too slow. From the sky above came the stern shout of the Blood Beastman Captain.

Immediately, intense rushing wind sounded as over ten figures rapidly descended, surrounding the towering tree where the trio had hid.

Witnessing this scene, Qin Yichen groaned. He was originally going to rely on Avril’s special perception of the Elf Forest to reach the depths without incident. But now, they had truly delivered themselves right to the enemy.

At this point, hiding held no meaning whatsoever.

Qin Yichen smiled bitterly as he slowly emerged from the dense branches.

“It’s you?” Upon seeing Qin Yichen, the Blood Beastman Captain’s brows furrowed, then his gaze fixed on Qin Yichen with vicious intent.

“What a coincidence! Never expected to encounter you lot again while trying to pass through.” Qin Yichen glanced at them and said with a light smile.

“It’s been a full seven days. We’ve been searching this entire area continuously, yet you remained undiscovered, appearing here at this very moment. Isn’t that too coincidental?” The Blood Beastman Captain said coldly.

Qin Yichen shrugged his shoulders with an innocent expression.

“Captain, that voice earlier definitely belonged to that Elf!” Beside the Blood Beastmen Captain, a burly man stared fixedly at the undergrowth behind Qin Yichen, speaking coldly.

Previously, he had been the one to capture Avril. Though the earlier outcry had been brief, he had still managed to identify the owner of that voice.

“Seems you’ve grown tired of living. I kindly spared you, yet you actually dared to cross us!” Hearing this, the Blood Beastman Captain’s expression immediately darkened.

As his words fell, over ten Blood Beastmen spread out in perfect coordination, completely surrounding that giant tree.

Having already allowed Avril to escape twice, they absolutely would not grant her another opportunity!

In an instant, the atmosphere in the dense forest became fraught with tension, stretched to the extreme. The Late Stage Martial Ancestor Blood Beastman Captain’s aura firmly locked onto Qin Yichen. Around his form, blood mist permeated, ready at any moment to transform into the most ferocious of offensives!

Silavin: So dumb. I already know the author wanted them to fight, but this plot has repeated so many times already.
