Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 1287: Chapter 1287: Experience

They are here together, appearing to outsiders as a happy family of four.

”Mom, let’s play.” Qi Yan looked at Mom eagerly.

Su Yuanyuan laughed. ”Are you hooked? Alright, let’s go out. Your brother and sister have to read.”

The family of four played outside until noon, then had lunch downstairs. Qi Yan and the other three managed on their own.

”Let’s go home. We can continue playing tomorrow. You two should take a nap.”

Though unwilling, they didn’t fuss.

Su Yuanyuan went to the bakery to buy bread and cake.

For several consecutive days, the older three read books. The couple took the two younger ones to all the city’s children’s amusement parks.

In five days, the identity cards should be ready. ”Let’s go to Shanghai. My little house there should have been sold, right?”

”Mom, didn’t you say it’s only been five years? Would anyone buy the house?”

”That place is extremely valuable.”

Next, the whole family went around all the malls in the city, encountering a wide variety of things.

Qi Hao and Qi Xuan liked supermarkets since they could buy things, so the car got filled with many items. They had no choice. Tan Shaoting would place back the items they put in the cart.

Su Yuanyuan encouraged them to pick some toys. ”Even adults play; some toys are truly remarkable. Don’t feel embarrassed.”

Qi Wen didn’t care about these things and happily went to choose.

Tan Shaoting knew that Su Yuanyuan was making up for the children’s childhood. She bought the most toys for Qi Hao and Qi Xuan.

On the day they could collect the identity cards, all seven of them went to the police station again.

They successfully got their identity cards. ”Mom, look, my photo turned out quite nice.”

”Yes, they’re all quite nice. It’s a small memento of our time here, too.”

The identity cards of the two younger ones were also quite interesting.

After leaving the police station, Tan Shaoting accessed the electronic map, which was very convenient. Even though it was quite far, they didn’t take the highway; they took the long way, staying in places that seemed appealing.

Along the way, the three kids experienced some unique customs.

”That world is parallel to this one, but the times are moving similarly.”

”Will it become like this in the future?”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”It definitely will.”

”That’s not bad. As long as ordinary people can live such lives.”

”They can. Life will only get better.”

They took a detour to see the Jiang Bridge and even used the ferry.

Arriving in Shanghai, Su Yuanyuan wasn’t in a hurry. She first arranged accommodation at a hotel, and in the evening, she took the kids to try local specialties.

The next day, the family went to the amusement park. The place was crowded. Qi Hao and Qi Xuan, getting wild, were even more excited.

Qi Yan and the other two also joined in the fun. Originally, the two boys were shy, but were pulled along by Qi Wen.

Some games were quite thrilling.

Tan Shaoting and Su Yuanyuan took photos of the kids, capturing many moments along the way.

They ate lunch at the amusement park and returned to the hotel at around nine in the evening.

”Mom, life here is so colorful.”

”Yes, more and more people are learning to enjoy life, unlike before. They’ve opened their minds.”

The next day, Qi Yan and the other two went out on their own, while the four of them visited the place where Su Yuanyuan used to live.

She easily got into the neighborhood, took the elevator to the door of the house, wondering if it hadn’t been sold.

It had a password lock, and without hesitation, she opened the door, fearing the battery might have drained. Once inside, she quickly changed the batteries.

The place was just as she had left it, neatly tidied but with a thick layer of dust on the cloth covering the furniture.

Standing in the living room, she looked around, finding it all very familiar.

This house should be mentioned in her will. Why hasn’t it been dealt with yet?

There’s nothing meaningful here; visiting was just to relive the past feelings.

Tan Shaoting looked around, ”Yuanyuan, do you want to stay here?”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head. ”There’s no need. I’m just curious about how my assets were arranged after my death. I fear they might not have been used appropriately.

Actually, I lived here for many decades but never felt a sense of belonging.

If there’s no rush, I’d like to go back and pay respects to my grandma.”

Tan Shaoting nodded, understanding there was no urgency.

Su Yuanyuan didn’t uncover the furniture, just took a look and left with her family.

”Back then, I bought this house on my own merit. A classmate from this neighborhood was very jealous when she found out I did it myself.

After graduation, I happened to overhear the female classmate claiming that I was someone’s kept woman.

Though we were classmates for four years, there was no real friendship. They can think what they want; I don’t mind.

After all these years, that’s the only classmate I remembered.

Isn’t it amazing how human memory works? I spent my last life feeling very lonely and mundane. Looking back, I wonder what I was thinking.

It feels like I was punishing myself, isolating myself.”

”Now you have us.”

Su Yuanyuan nodded with a smile, ”Indeed, I have you now.”

”How did you feel upon coming here, Yuanyuan?”

”What else? Isn’t it the same? I’m just an ordinary person, concerned about my money.”

”What shall we do now?”

”Let’s go directly to the police station for a check?”

”What identity will you use?”

”As a former sponsored student by Su Yuanyuan. I have the right to know about my benefactor’s posthumous situation.”

The family went to the police station and explained their purpose.

There was no refusal; they helped check, finding, ”After Ms. Su’s death, her property was donated according to her will. If you have any questions, you can check with the institution.”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”Thank you.”

The family went directly to investigate.

She carefully examined every spending item, feeling assured that her money hadn’t been wasted.

The house had long been auctioned, now under someone else’s name.

Su Yuanyuan was just curious why no one lived there or cleaned it up.

But now, this no longer mattered. It no longer concerned her.

Tan Shaoting sensed his wife seemed relieved, which made him feel more at ease.

Back at the hotel, Qi Yan and the others hadn’t returned yet. They were already accustomed, so the couple wasn’t worried.

After lunch, they took Qi Hao and Qi Xuan out to play.
