Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 1085: Chapter 1085: Likes

Tan Shaoting listened silently to the mother and son chatting; he naturally understood what was going through the children’s minds.

Knowing his wife, if the three kids were indeed exposed, she would go to any lengths to protect them.

Indeed, their whole family should be cautious and prudent.

Early the next morning, the family got up at the first sign of movement. Qi Yan and the other two had already gotten into the habit of waking up early to exercise.

Yesterday, Shubao and Xiao Fei were so excited, continuously practicing how to run as taught by their older brother, that their legs were sore this morning.

But seeing their older brother get up to exercise, they also endured the pain and joined in.

”Brother, can you teach us martial arts?”

Looking at Shubao, Qi Yan thought for a moment, ”This matter requires the approval of Great-Grandma and Uncle.”

”Brother, we’ll go ask, you wait here.”

Shubao ran off, with Xiao Fei trailing behind like a little tail.

Hu Chunhua was cooking, making dumplings again that morning. Knowing that Su Yuanyuan’s family would leave today, she thought to give them a hearty send-off.

”Grandma, Grandma, my brother knows martial arts, and I want to learn. But my brother says it requires your and Dad’s permission.”

Hu Chunhua looked at her grandson’s excited face. ”Your brother wants our approval mainly because he’s worried that once you learn martial arts, you’ll think you’re invincible and cause trouble outside.”

Shubao understood what his grandmother meant. ”Grandma, I won’t.”

Hu Chunhua didn’t mention that Qi Yan also meant that if Shubao learned martial arts, he might want to serve the country in the future, which could be dangerous. They were afraid something might happen to him.

”Shubao, do you really want to learn?”

”Yeah, Grandma, I’m telling you, yesterday my brother taught us to run, and we ran much faster than before. So I want to learn martial arts.”

Hu Chunhua nodded, ”Okay, you can learn, but remember not to cause trouble.”

Xiao Fei saw that Grandma had already agreed to let his brother learn, so he eagerly looked at Hu Chunhua, ”Grandma, I want to learn with my brother too.”

”Xiao Fei, do you also want to learn?”

”Yes, I want to learn.”

”If your brother stops learning, would you still want to learn?”

Xiao Fei looked puzzled at Grandma. Hadn’t she already agreed for his brother to learn?

But he was an obedient child, ”Grandma, if my brother stops learning, I won’t learn anymore either.”

Hu Chunhua heard this and nodded with a smile, then looked at her daughter-in-law, ”Xiaoqin, do you want Xiao Fei to learn?”

Qi Yan’s concern is they might want to venture outside once they learn.

Yu Xiuqin was taken aback, looking at her son who was eagerly looking at her. ”Okay, let him learn.”

The two kids cheered and ran off. You could hear them in the yard telling Qi Yan that Grandma had agreed.

Hu Chunhua looked at her daughter-in-law, thinking she probably wouldn’t agree.

Yu Xiuqin gave a wry smile, ”Mom, of course, I don’t want Xiao Fei to be in danger. But when the kids grow up, if they have their own ideas and really want to go out, can we really stop them?

In that case, it’s better to let them have some skills, so we can feel more at ease when they go out.”

Hu Chunhua nodded. Her daughter-in-law was thinking ahead, and she had a point.

Jian Jun watched with envy as Qi Yan taught them martial arts. He was the eldest brother, but he didn’t feel there was anything wrong with his younger brother teaching them martial arts.

Qi Hong and Qi Wen finished exercising and watched with a smile.

Thinking that what their brother taught was quite decent, if a few of them put their hearts into learning and practicing, they could really hold their own in the future.

Su Yuanyuan and Tan Shaoting also returned; they had just gone for a run up the mountain.

Seeing the kids in the yard, they didn’t say much.

When they returned, the couple started making dumplings, just like the day before. The kids were very satisfied.

Sun Chengmin was tending the fire, watching his father-in-law’s family, feeling that it truly takes such a family.

The reason a family can be like this is because there’s a wise woman. It’s really true what they say: with a good wife, everything prospers.

After breakfast, Tan Shaoting also guided a few kids in the yard.

This made Shubao even more enthusiastic. His uncle was even more impressive.

Hu Chunhua was preparing things for Su Yuanyuan to take with her: fried peanuts, sunflower seeds, dried persimmons, dried sweet potatoes, and raw sweet potatoes.

”Aunt, take more; I’ll send some to Chunsheng too.”

Hu Chunhua nodded with a smile, ”Alright, I’ll prepare two portions.”

Yang Hongwen came over and reminded them again to come over for lunch today.

Sun Chengmin was indeed uneasy about this uncle.

The whole morning was a busy one. It was the twenty-eighth, and the village still had a festive atmosphere, with children setting off firecrackers.

Qi Yan and the others weren’t really interested in this, but Shubao and Xiao Fei were.

Yang Zhiqiang bought them firecrackers. Su Yuanyuan shook her head on the side, unable to say Yang Zhiqiang was wrong, but firecrackers really were too dangerous.

But if you didn’t prepare any for the kids, they’d envy other kids setting them off and might crowd around, or even pick up unexploded ones, which could be even more dangerous.

At noon, the family of ten, along with Su Yuanyuan’s family of five, went to Yang Hongwen’s home for lunch.

Their preparations were even more extravagant, mainly because there were more people cooking, allowing for more variety.

They arranged four tables; Yang Hongwen enjoyed the lively atmosphere.

Qi Wen particularly liked the fried skewers, made by spreading soybean flour into flakes, wrapping them in meat filling, and frying them to a crisp.

The meal was buzzing and lively; to be honest, they could eat a bit more than usual.

Sun Chengmin sighed, feeling that they couldn’t quite compare to this family.

Meanwhile, Su Liangliang lay motionless on the heated kang. Wang Cuihong asked him to deliver some peanuts from home to Su Yuanyuan, but he remained immobile.

”Don’t bother, Su Yuanyuan made it clear to me that she’s arranged a job for me and won’t handle any matters related to us henceforth.

There’s no point going, it would just make things awkward for her.”

Wang Cuihong sighed, believing that a promised arrangement would surely be fulfilled, but she still hoped to repair relations with Su Yuanyuan.

This time when dividing pork, they had been given a bit more, and even Zhiqiang, being so young, was given some.

But since her husband didn’t want to, she was left with no choice.

After lunch, Yang Hongwen had also prepared many things. They were all roughly the same. Others might not appreciate them.

The car was once again filled to the brim.

The two families watched the car leave, and Yang Hongwen sighed, ”I wonder if my dear Yuanyuan will be able to come back?”

No one spoke, as no one really knew; it was hard to say. They were so busy, being able to come back this time was already quite an achievement.

Qi Yan put away everything in the back, making a lot of room.

The speed of the car was very fast; they wanted to get back quickly. Mom still wanted to meet up with her friends.

To the Zeng Family, the three kids didn’t feel much; of course, they didn’t feel as close as they did to the Yang Family.
