Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 1064: Chapter 1064: Going Home for Vacation

The second time, Yu Xiuqin didn’t give in. If the two children came back and found out, it would be too embarrassing.

Once they tidied up again, ”Zhiqiang, should we both go back for dinner?”

”Yes, we don’t have many days off. Better stay with Mom and Dad.

I’m the eldest, used to be reckless, didn’t know better. Now I understand, I must be filial to Mom and Dad.”

Yu Xiuqin didn’t object. ”Why don’t we go back and live with Mom and Dad?”

”I’ve thought about it too, let’s ask Mom and Dad later. Chunsheng probably won’t come home this year. We’ll be closer if we live there.”

The two locked up and went home. Hu Chunhua was preparing dinner, making dumplings, with pickled cabbage filling and some pork cracklings for extra flavor.

Yu Xiuqin immediately joined in to help, chatting with her mother-in-law as they worked.

She gave her husband a look, and Yang Zhiqiang laughed, ”Mom, why don’t we move back? It’s inconvenient to come and go.”

Hu Chunhua nodded; she had thought the same but was afraid her daughter-in-law might feel awkward.

”Alright, but you’ll need to move your luggage over. Let Xiao Fei and Shubao stay with us, and you can live in the west room. Go get your bags, and you’ll need to start the fire too.”

Yang Zhiqiang nodded, as cooking didn’t need his help, he started tidying the room.

His mom was a tidy person. The house was very clean. He brought the luggage over and then sat down to light the fire.

Hu Chunhua asked him to steam some sweet potatoes, otherwise, the fire would be wasted.

This kind of task was something Yang Zhiqiang was good at. The two women sat on the kang making dumplings.

”Mom, where’s Dad?”

”He’s out fishing. Your dad said there were plenty of fish this year. Since you’re home, he thought we’d cook fish for you.”

This is how parents are, as long as their children are happy, they’ll do anything, always thinking of their children with any good fortune.

”Xiaoqin, Zhiqiang is an honest man who doesn’t talk much. If he’s ever out of line, don’t be mad at him. Your dad and I will sort him out.”

”Mom, I know. I really want to have a good life. Taking care of a child on my own was really tiring.

Now, I finally decided to take another step forward. I will cherish this life.

No one is without mistakes. I’ll make mistakes too. When that happens, we’ll talk it over together.”

Hu Chunhua smiled, ”Right, that’s how it should be. In marriage, you should understand each other.

Xiaoqin, you don’t know, do you? I used to tell your elder aunt that I wanted to set you and Zhiqiang up.

But that fool got tricked by the Zhou family. After all this, you two are still together. Fate is truly wonderful.”

Yu Xiuqin was quite surprised, she really didn’t know. She couldn’t help but wonder what her life would be like if she and Yang Zhiqiang had gotten together back then.

”Xiaoqin, don’t mind what I’m about to say. You and Zhiqiang should have a child soon. Your dad and I are still healthy and can help take care of the child. You both work, and the older ones go to school, it’s not an issue.

And who knows what’ll happen in the future? Although the two children seem fine now, if they don’t turn out filial, it’s out of your hands. You can’t count on Shubao, and Zhiqiang can’t count on Xiao Fei either.

Only by having your own child can you not only truly become a couple, but also share a common child. No matter what happens, there’ll always be a responsibility towards both of them.”

Yu Xiuqin listened to her mother-in-law’s words; it was all honest and true.

”Mom, I understand. I haven’t thought about not having children.”

Hu Chunhua was relieved, seeing her daughter-in-law making dumplings gracefully, quietly hoping the two will live in harmony.

”Xiaoqin, being a stepmother isn’t easy. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to Shubao often. Since his parents separated, he’s become much more sensible.

If there’s really anything amiss with him, we’ll be here. Men are rough-minded, you’ll just need to be more tolerant.”

”Mom, we’re all family now. I know that.”

Voices came from the yard. Yang Minggang had brought the two grandsons home.

The two kids ran in, their cheeks rosy, visibly excited.

”Grandma. Mom, Grandpa caught a big fish, and there are several of them! He said we’ll have fish stew tomorrow.”

Yu Xiuqin was touched by Shubao calling her Mom. She vowed to treat both kids equally, ensuring a harmonious family.

Xiao Fei’s eyes sparkled too. He had few playmates. Yu Xiuqin had locked him at home while she worked; he loved visiting his grandma’s house and now preferred Grandma’s house even more.

After speaking, Shubao ran off, with Xiao Fei following him.

”Xiaoqin, let’s keep calling Xiao Fei by his name. After all, his father only had him.”

Yu Xiuqin nodded eagerly. She was quite concerned about this issue and was relieved her mother-in-law was so understanding. It made things easier, and at least honored his memory.

The yard echoed with the excitement of the children. ”Mom, I really feel I made the right choice getting married now. Xiao Fei was so quiet and unlike a child when I locked him at home.

Now with Shubao around, having his brother beside him makes me feel assured.”

”Yes, the boys have each other. Though they’re two years apart, it’ll be hardly noticeable in a decade. Building a strong bond will make them as close as real brothers in the future.”

Yu Xiuqin nodded, determined to try. Xiao Fei was a lonely child, but she hoped things would improve for him.

In the evening, the family sat on the kang eating dumplings. Yang Minggang was happy. It was quite dull with just the two of them.

Now it was better. Seeing his sensible daughter-in-law, they would surely visit regularly, making it less lonely.

That night, for the first time, Xiao Fei slept with his grandparents and lay next to his brother, feeling a bit excited.

Yang Zhiqiang was full of energy, holding Yu Xiuqin tightly. Such experiences quickly strengthen feelings between husband and wife.

And of course, the same applies to men, developing reliance on their wives through these experiences.

The Yang Family lived warm days, with all kinds of emotions heating up quickly, leaving everyone satisfied and pleased with these developments.

After all, everyone was ordinary people, desiring to lead peaceful, happy lives. Once a family is formed, the hope is for a lifelong journey together.

Hu Chunhua was pleased seeing her son and daughter-in-law in love, adhering to the old belief that more children bring more blessings. She anticipated they’d have children soon.
