Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 937: Chapter 937: Arrests

Every time Su Yuanyuan spoke, Gu Xiuqing’s emotions fluctuated tremendously.

”Hu Zi, these are twenty-five people’s information, hand it over to you. Immediately call Daqing to send someone to capture them outside; not a single one can get away.”

Hu Zi excitedly ran in and nodded, ”I got it, rest assured, not a single one will run away. Our sister-in-law really is impressive, being able to gather such intelligence.”

Gu Xiuqing still said nothing, but her annoyed expression was evident. She had been suppressed.

Hu Zi directly assigned today’s on-duty personnel, dividing them into three groups to set out and capture people.

On Daqing’s side, they also received the information immediately and arranged for people to go out, sending out a total of twenty people; this was the largest mobilization.

Time really wasn’t on their side. Su Yuanyuan entered Sun Kaisheng’s interrogation room again; he was still speaking incessantly.

This would take several hours. I should go back; after all, this matter is no longer ordinary, and I can’t make decisions on my own.

She glanced at Chengzi, and after the two came out, she said, ”Let’s go back.”

Su Yuanyuan directly returned to her office, where Secretary Ning Huaiyuan was on duty today.

”Go ask Secretary Xie for the big leader, Leader Zeng, and Mr. Lu, when we can meet them, and if a time is agreed upon, inform them to meet in the big leader’s office.”

Ning Huaiyuan knew Minister Su never arranged work after hours, so something significant must have happened.

”Yes. I’ll arrange it immediately.”

”Sister-in-law, should I get you something to eat?”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head, ”I have no appetite. I didn’t expect they’d set up so many spies here.”

”Go outside and wait for Secretary Ning. I’ll rest for a while.”

Chengzi quickly went out and sat at Su Yuanyuan’s office door.

After drinking two glasses of Spiritual Spring Water, she felt much more comfortable. She was taking this matter very seriously in her heart.

If a single country could have so many spies, what about spies from other countries?

While she was lost in thought, a knock on the door sounded.

Chengzi and Ning Huaiyuan entered. ”Minister Su, now Minister Lu and Minister Zeng have all gone to the big leader’s office.”

Su Yuanyuan stood up, ”Let’s go too.”

The two arrived at Xu Guozhi’s office, seeing two people waiting outside with their secretaries.

”Pretty quick.”

”If you’re calling us at this time, there must be something important. Let’s go.”

They entered, and Xu Guozhi was already sitting there waiting for them.

”What has happened?”

”I’ve captured Sun Kaisheng, unexpectedly he was a Japan undercover spy. We’ve already captured two spies responsible for the Capital region, and twenty-five more are outside. People have been sent to apprehend them.”

Xu Guozhi slapped the table, his face flushed with anger.

Zeng Zhenqing’s expression was particularly serious. ”Xiao Su, you’ve handled this matter very well.”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head, ”Actually, I’m wondering how many more people like this are there.”

After speaking, she smiled wryly, ”I can understand being a spy for other countries, but I just can’t understand being an undercover spy for Japan.”

Sun Kaisheng also told me he wanted to protect his two sons born abroad. I refused. I disagree.”

Su Yuanyuan feared Xu Guozhi would intervene, given his decent relationship with Sun Kaisheng; if such a thing happened, she’d be extremely angry. So she spoke up now.

Lu Chengmin nodded, ”I also disagree. There can be no protection in this matter; even if they’re still children, it doesn’t matter because they grew up drinking the blood of our people.”

Xu Guozhi’s face reddened, and Su Yuanyuan quickly handed him a cup of water, fearing he’d really be angered.

”You don’t have to worry about me shielding Sun Kaisheng. I won’t even see him.”

The three fell silent. The last bombing wasn’t thoroughly investigated, which left Su Yuanyuan dissatisfied; if issues don’t affect you personally, they can be easy to overlook. But only the harmed know it’s truly an affliction.

”Zeng Zhenqing, take over this matter, and give me a thorough investigation.”

Zeng Zhenqing nodded, ”I understand; this time no one will be spared. I can’t believe such people are among us.”

It was now past 2 a.m., and the four didn’t say much more and left.

The next morning at the early meeting, Su Yuanyuan spoke about Sun Kaisheng, ”Don’t speak of this publicly, not even to family, since the people haven’t all been captured yet. If something happens, you can’t bear it.”

Su Yuanyuan mainly wanted to know if there were foreign spies among these people.

Unexpectedly, there were indeed some, and they were group leaders, second secretaries.

Su Yuanyuan frowned tightly; once this matter is over, it’ll be their turn; none will escape.

After the meeting, Su Yuanyuan called Qian Zhifeng into the office.

”You’ll be promoted to first secretary later. Right now you’re not needed here, go investigate several people, and discuss with Qin Zhiyuan.”

Qian Zhifeng listened to the names, rather surprised.

He was very smart, knowing these people were likely connected to foreign interests.

”Yes.”

”Also, there’s a shortage for third secretary, ask and transfer someone over with Qin Zhiyuan.”

After Qian Zhifeng left, Su Yuanyuan began to work intensively.

Everyone speculated about Xie Fenglan’s departure, but no one said much. Such a good deck of cards, wonder how Secretary Xie played them, yet directly withdrew.

Work was particularly hectic, and at 9 a.m., Hu Zi called to report that five people had been captured, each bringing back some evidence; a substantial gain indeed.

”Interrogate them directly, don’t be soft.”

”Yes, I understand. Such people being dismembered wouldn’t even quell anger.”

At noon, the four ate together, and her guess was right; Sun Kaisheng indeed requested to see Xu Guozhi.

His lips even developed fever blisters. Truly inflamed; after experiencing life and death together, it’s normal to feel inflamed over discovering your partner turning out to be a traitor.

”Xiao Su, you should attend the year-end conference, it’s being held in Japan,” Lu Chengmin stated.

Su Yuanyuan hesitated not at all, nodding directly; it was absolutely the best opportunity. This way, no need for outsiders to know; he had contemplated sending people over to erase memories, now it’s unnecessary.

Zeng Zhenqing frowned, ”It’ll be very dangerous over there.”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head, ”It’s alright; frankly, even if the plane fails, I’d return even by boat. What am I afraid of?

It’s also a chance for me to see firsthand. Is it really their country? Why host the conference there? Doesn’t seem reasonable, right?”
