Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 915: Arrangements for September 15

Lu Chengmin also put down his chopsticks, ”You don’t know, today when she handed over the work to me, it felt like she was tying up loose ends. I was very scared. It was like she was about to leave.”

”Xiao Su is a person more exceptional than Xiao Tan. I think that if it weren’t for you showing her those documents, she would still be living a carefree life.

Actually, I think she’s more suited for a free and easy life, right?

These past few years, I’ve wanted countless times for her to come back and help me. But she always refused.

Later on, I also thought it would be better for her not to do such dangerous work anymore. It’s really not easy for her.”

The three of them fell silent. She indeed had the ability, but it was really hard for her.

”Forget it, let her do whatever she wants. It’s already been dangerous four times, one more time won’t make a difference.” Zeng Zhenqing sighed.

As July was approaching, Zhang Chunsheng knew that Su Yuanyuan would certainly go to the beach, and coincidentally he had her letter in his hand, so he drove over alone.

Chengzi saw Zhang Chunsheng coming, and the two exchanged a knowing glance.

Su Yuanyuan had just finished a meeting and was instructing the secretaries on the work.

She always had a few secretaries listening to the work instructions, including Qian Zhifeng.

Actually, Lu Chengmin was right. She always had a backup plan, in case she suddenly had to leave one day, the work she was responsible for wouldn’t be interrupted, at least the secretaries would know.

”How about it? Are you getting used to this kind of life?”

Chengzi nodded, ”It’s okay. Just a bit boring. Sister-in-law doesn’t go anywhere, I’m just following her around all day. But I’d rather be bored than have her take risks. How’s Hu Zi and the others?”

”They’re doing fine. I’m taking them on missions now, and a few of them are quite capable.”

”That’s good, so when I step down, I won’t have to worry.”

”Yeah, they’re all looking forward to retiring by the end of the year.”

Chengzi knew that they had been through life and death, and as they got older, their fear of death grew. They used to be fearless like newborn calves before, but age had changed that.

That’s why they wanted to retire. They all wanted to keep their accomplishments. It wasn’t about them, they thought more about the kindness of their leader. So, they spent more than a year thinking about it.

If Sister-in-law was still doing this job, maybe it wouldn’t be easy. After all, reputation mattered too, a big man following a woman might not sound good.

”Da Linzi and Binzi will be transferred out.”

”Will they be instructors too?”

”Yes, directly to local troops, their positions will be a bit higher.”

”That’s okay, are Da Biao and the others all staying?”

”Yes, that’s the plan for now. But if there’s a big need below, they will have to go. But Daqing and Hu Zi won’t be leaving.”

At this time, the door to Su Yuanyuan’s office opened, and the secretaries filed out.

Then the two of them went in together.

”Xiao Su, this is your letter.”

”Thanks for the trouble, having to bring me the letters every time.” There’s really no way to mail personal letters here. Besides, I don’t want my friends to know what’s happening, it’s better to keep it the way it was before.

”No need to be polite. By the way, are you still going to the beach?”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”Arranging it now, I have ten days of leave.”

”Be careful.”

”I know. Did you come over to see the leader for something?”

”Yes, Binzi and Da Linzi’s transfer orders need the leader’s signature.”

”What’s up?”

”The two of them are going to other places, their level will be half a level higher than Chengzi.”

”Hmm, that’s fine. It’s pretty good down there too.”

The telephone on the desk rang, the work was indeed too busy.

Zhang Chunsheng smiled, nodded, and went out.

Su Yuanyuan used her lunch break to read Zhao Yanli’s letter.

Hearing her talk about how sensible her two nieces were, Su Yuanyuan could picture the scene. Honestly, if such kids go on steadily, they won’t be lacking in the future.

All they need is to have ambition themselves. She thought about having the secretary prepare some stationery to send over, nothing more could be done. Giving money seemed a bit too crass. That wouldn’t be good.

She wrote a letter to Zhao Yanli, and called Qian Zhifeng, asking her to prepare ten sets of stationery and mail them along with the letter. It was too hot now, sending food wouldn’t be practical.

In the afternoon, Qian Zhifeng returned. ”Minister Su, I met Li Liyun at the post office.”

”Hmm, did she mail a letter?”

”Yes. Heard she wrote to the farm, I told her the kids at the farm went to their aunt’s place to study.”

”Hmm, coming back home today.”

Out, Chengzi was happy, since he hadn’t had a moment of rest since he was in his teens; staying here every day was really boring.

They went back after dinner.

”Sister Yuan Yuan, I knew you would come soon. Did Xiao Ling and Xiao Le go to Sister Xiao Li’s place?”

”Yes, I just received your Sister Xiao Li’s letter today, all five kids went. Secretary Qian went over to mail my letter today.”

”Sister Yuan Yuan, give me Sister Xiao Li’s address, I’ll write to them too. I didn’t expect they could really go to school. Brother Qingxiang truly has foresight.”

”Sure, I’ll give it to you. Did you teach them all?”

Li Liyun smiled, ”Yes, Sister Yuan Yuan, let me tell you. Xiao Ling and Xiao Le are especially smart. They learn everything quickly.

You don’t know, Brother Qingxiang’s sister-in-law really dislikes them. Xiao Ling can already be like a robust laborer. The sisters are more capable than I am.”

”Children from poor families grow up early, their fate is in their own hands.

By the end of the year, I might be going out. You study well, if I can take you two, I’ll take you out to see the world.”

This excited the brother and sister, ”Really? We can really go with you?”

”Try your best. Study hard and I’ll arrange a job for you, and take you with me by then. There’s still a few months left, I’ll be watching your performance.”

The brother and sister nodded excitedly, ”Sister Yuan Yuan, don’t worry, we’ll definitely work hard. Just wait to see our results, we certainly won’t let you down.”

”Okay, this is your word. You must work hard.

And you absolutely can’t neglect your studies. Xiao Yun, I actually want you to go to university.

Consider it yourselves, discuss whether to work or go to school.”

”Sister Yuan Yuan, can we go to university?”

”Yes. Let me know what you want to do.” Su Yuanyuan already knew where the Li Family couple was, and also knew what research they were doing. She truly admired people like them. So if it was possible for her to do something, she would definitely try.

The brother and sister were excitedly twirling around the living room. They didn’t discuss it, ”Sister Yuan Yuan, we want to go to university, we want to study.”

”Since you’ve made up your mind, going to school is a choice. Once you finish your foreign language studies, you’ll go to university.”
