Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 575: 575 arrived

They had lunch at a restaurant at noon.

”Let’s not rest tonight. If you’re tired, I can drive.”

”Xiao Su, we’re not tired.” After three days, they arrived at the rehabilitation center.

”Xiao Su, look how nice the rehabilitation center is. Are you really not staying here?” Chengzi still asked, unwilling to give up.

Su Yuanyuan still shook her head.

At this point, the two didn’t say anything further. ”We need to find a place to stay, but it can’t be too shabby,” Chengzi said to Daqing.

”Yeah, let’s ask around and see which village has better conditions.”

”No need, something average is fine. Even if it’s rundown, it’s okay.” I’ll clean it up slowly myself, besides, it’s only temporary lodging.

If it’s convenient, I’ll go see for myself and then consider moving there.

They arrived at a fairly large-looking village. Daqing directly found the village chief.

”We want to rent a yard here. Preferably something new, clean, and tidy.”

”Comrade, we don’t have what you want here. There are only two rundown houses in the village, houses where elderly widows used to live.”

Both of them looked at Su Yuanyuan, waiting for her decision.

”Village chief, please find me a relatively good house.”

The two knew she would decide this way.

”The village house isn’t unavailable to you, but you can’t stay for too long.”

All three nodded. Su Yuanyuan responded, ”Village chief, I’ll stay a few days. If I find it nice here, I’ll buy the house.”

The old man didn’t say anything. They arrived in front of a house. This place only had mud walls less than a meter high. Although the house didn’t look like it would collapse, it looked particularly fragile.

”Village chief, is this the good one?”

”Yes, this is the good one.

The house hasn’t been lived in for two years. It can still be used after some tidying up.”

If they hadn’t driven a car here and showed him their work IDs, the village would never have accepted outsiders. What a bother, good or bad. And seeing that this woman intends to live here makes him even more reluctant.

Su Yuanyuan knew what the old village chief was thinking, so when he pushed the door open to enter, she didn’t follow.

”Village chief, sorry to trouble you. I won’t stay here.”

Su Yuanyuan remained proud. Although she never expected to be welcomed, she never imagined being disliked either.

Daqing and Chengzi both sighed with relief.

”Comrade, we’re really sorry but these are our village’s conditions.”

Su Yuanyuan didn’t mind the house being rundown. Mainly, she didn’t want to be disliked. It’s hard to say what she wants to do in the future, such a place isn’t suitable for her.

”Okay, thank you, village chief.”

After the three got in the car, ”Take me to the rehabilitation center. You two should go back.”

”Xiao Su, the rehabilitation center is still okay. But how long are you planning to stay?”

”I haven’t decided yet. Don’t worry about me.”

Everyone knew her stubbornness, so they didn’t say anything more.

It’s not yet the end of the New Year celebrations. The rehabilitation center is really empty.

Su Yuanyuan took out her ID, finally realizing its benefit.

Oh dear, the person in charge immediately became more respectful upon seeing it.

The two helped her move her things inside. The person in charge had already gone to arrange meals.

Su Yuanyuan went to tidy up her room. The two took this time to remind the person in charge not to mention anyone being swept away by the tornado.

Lunch here is the local specialty, all seafood.

Su Yuanyuan found the taste acceptable, maybe because it had been so long since she last ate it.

”You two should go back. Be careful on the road, and don’t worry about coming to visit me. I’ll be alright.”

”Xiao Su, if you move out of here, make sure to leave your new address.”

”Don’t worry, I know. I won’t let you lose track of me.”

With no other choice, the two had to leave, sensing a bit of dislike from Yuanyuan towards them.

The two drove to Taolin Port and found the village chief.

”Who are you two?”

They took out their work IDs.

”You’re Xiao Tan’s colleagues?”

”Yes, he’s our leader.”

”What brings you here?”

”Village chief, we’re here to ask for your help.

Our leader’s wife had an accident some time ago. She’s lost her memory now, but she insists on coming to the seaside. We haven’t told her about our leader and the three children.

We’d like to ask the village chief to remind everyone not to mention this when she comes around.”

”Xiao Su had an accident?”

”Yes, while saving someone, she was injured in an explosion. When she woke up, she couldn’t remember anything.”

”Alright, I’ll remind everyone, but I can’t promise that nothing will slip out.”

Daqing nodded, ”We understand. We just don’t want her to live in sorrow her whole life.

Even though she’s lost her memory, she still wants to come to the sea. We don’t know whether hiding this from her is good or bad.”

”Rest assured, I’ll tell everyone today.”

Only then did the two drive away. In fact, Su Yuanyuan understood their intentions.

She didn’t mind their well-meaning deception.

She had come here because there was a lingering concern in her heart, wanting to find those three children. Although everyone else believed they were dead with no chance of survival.

But deep down, she knew. She felt they were still alive, waiting for her.

Yet she had no leads. Just the feeling that she should come here.

She always thought this was the obsession in this woman’s heart, yet late at night, there was a voice urging her desperately to find the children.

So she followed her heart and came. But once here, she didn’t know what to do.

There weren’t many people at the rehabilitation center now. This was understandable since no leader would come here at this time, only those with significant military accomplishments were here, and coming now wasn’t for rehabilitation, but to seek treatment.

Staying here was too dull. The seaside still had ice, and she wasn’t sick, so she wouldn’t be going there to invite trouble at this time.

So it was better to investigate the matter. Get to know everything, then decide what to do. Plan her future life accordingly.

So she found the person in charge there.

”Comrade, I’m going out for a walk, but I’ll be back tonight.”

”Comrade, it’s too cold outside.” He sympathized with the woman from the bottom of his heart. What good is skill without a husband or children.

”It’s okay, I’m just going to look around.”

Su Yuanyuan forced a smile and left. She was really uncomfortable with others’ pity.
