Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 560: 560 left in ’68

She was taken to that house. Yuanyuan already knew that there were ten more people inside now. Oh, wow, did these two run away because they got scared?

No, it should be the things she packed yesterday.

Yuanyuan cooperated and followed them into the yard, hearing them say something in gibberish. Though she couldn’t understand a word, she already knew their intentions.

She now knew that the more innocent she appeared, the better. Besides, given this situation, the leader didn’t believe a woman could possess such abilities.

Eventually, she was pushed into a room, and Yuanyuan thought to herself, this won’t do. If Da Biao and Hu Zi find out she’s been locked up, they’ll definitely find a way to rescue her, making it a perfect trap.

But what means could she use to get out?

Just then, she heard a knocking on the door.

It turns out that after Yuanyuan was taken away, the waiter ran to the police station.

Outside, there was still a sound of gibberish. Shortly after, she was brought out again.

The police here also wore uniforms. So, Yuanyuan ran behind a middle-aged policeman, clutching at the back of his coat.

They talked some more. The people here were very reluctant to release Yuanyuan, because after so long, they’ve only encountered one person from the north. Now, they were anxious to find the firearms and ammunition.

In fact, they were extremely perplexed, wondering how those items could disappear without a trace. This was something that left them baffled.

Yuanyuan was sent to the hotel and saw that waiter, expressing many thanks.

Returning to her room, she contemplated the matter. She decided to keep a low profile for the next few days.

Actually, leaving now would be good, but she feared Hu Zi and the others hadn’t completed their tasks. Being captured again would really be embarrassing.

In the afternoon, she went out once more, essentially wanting Hu Zi and the others to know she was safe.

She took a stroll and bought some fruits. She also had her meal outside.

In the evening, she knew Hu Zi had come.

”Xiao Su, are you alright?”

Yuanyuan shook her head. ”I’m fine. That kind-hearted waiter reported to the police station. But when will you be leaving?”

”Xiao Su, our task is not yet finished.”

”Haven’t you requested support?”

”Daqing came.”

”Alright, I’ll leave tomorrow. Please take care of yourselves.”

Hu Zi then told her the place they were staying at now.

She needed to find a way to give them the things in her space.

After Hu Zi left, she pondered how to handle the matter, but really didn’t come up with any good ideas.

She finally decided to secretly leave them in a location; these documents should be what they needed.

So the next day, Yuanyuan went wandering around, looking for a place to leave things.

Documents she could hand over, but how to deal with the ammunition?

Forget it, she’ll keep the ammunition with her for now and deal with it later.

After lunch, Yuanyuan went to the train station to buy train tickets, opting for the farthest destination leaving that afternoon.

On her way back, she saw Da Biao in a room, with the other two not present. So she controlled her Divine Sense to send the bundle to Da Biao’s bedside, then returned to check out and pack her things.

The 1:30 train was half an hour late. When she lay in bed, Da Biao was also feeling excited.

This was basically their task, which could be considered completed.

So, when Hu Zi and the other returned, the three of them decided to head back immediately. As for the situation here, they had already notified the person in charge.

Yuanyuan once again felt bored. The two people in the carriage with her also could go a whole day without speaking.

Feeling quite stifled, she got off the train before reaching the final stop.

Although it’s not cold here, she felt uncomfortable. Yuanyuan thought she was not suited to this place.

Now it was already the eighteenth of the twelfth lunar month. After some thought, she decided to return. Spending New Year on the train wasn’t impossible, and was better than being here unable to understand the dialect, with food that didn’t suit her taste.

So upon getting off, she bought train tickets to return, going back obediently.

Yuanyuan pondered whether her outing this time was meant to rescue Hu Zi and Da Biao. Perhaps this was the arrangement made by God?

This time she had the carriage to herself, feeling very free. With nothing much to do, she read books. Eating and drinking became much more convenient.

She went to the dining car for each meal. She ate little, so she supplemented it with snacks back in her carriage.

It was already the thirtieth day of the twelfth lunar month, with approximately three days left until reaching the Capital.

Now, there weren’t many people on the train; most were eating in the dining car.

Today’s meal was good; there was meat.

Yuanyuan found it quite tasty, thinking it was nice to have so many people accompanying her for the New Year.

No need to cook for herself, able to enjoy ready-made food. After eating, everyone stayed in the dining car.

The train sold cigarettes and melon seeds. Yuanyuan bought two cents worth of seeds; although she didn’t speak, she enjoyed listening to others, making it less lonely.

The train arrived at a place where most people were from near the Capital or heading there.

The discussion topics were mainly political.

It was all about what this official was like or what that official did.

About how the many relatives were doing. Yuanyuan found it quite interesting, regardless of others’ opinions.

Even though the dining car was filled with people smoking, Yuanyuan sat on one side and ate melon seeds.

She listened intently, and unknowingly, midnight arrived, marking the year 1968.

The attendants on the train broadcast New Year’s greetings, speaking with fervor, and everyone was quite excited.

Yuanyuan thought to herself that perhaps people of this era were sincere, possibly due to faith, having been liberated from dire circumstances.

Especially the elderly, who were even more grateful.

Yuanyuan stayed in the dining car until after 2 a.m., then finally returned to her bed.

Lying down, she felt much happier.

Being able to live again, what is there not to be satisfied about? One should face life positively, unlike the past life where she faced it negatively.

Thinking of this, Yuanyuan suddenly felt enlightened. Why spend life pettily when one could enjoy good days happily?

Who could be luckier than her to travel through time? That’s more challenging than winning a billion in the lottery, right?

Completely understanding now, she started smiling.

She decided to try living the life she hadn’t lived before in this lifetime, even to compensate for herself.

So, early on the first day, she went to the dining car for breakfast, smiling unprecedentedly at the person selling meals.

Having stayed on the train for over half a month, the vendor obviously recognized her; it was the first time she witnessed her smile.
