Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 285: 285 As Desired

Su Yuanyuan quite liked listening. Now, the old man was even more energized; finally, a young person liked these stories.

He was talking non-stop, eager to share all his experiences and knowledge with this young girl.

It wasn’t really a conversation between two people, rather she was listening to stories.

Su Yuanyuan even poured water for the old man twice, letting him talk to his heart’s content.

Finally, the bell signaling the end of the workday rang, and Su Yuanyuan felt a sense of relief.

”Girl, are you eating at the cafeteria?”

”Sir, I’m not eating. I’m thinking of using Mr. Peng’s lunch break to order the sprayers.”

Just then, Peng Haishan and the other two came over.

They saw the gatekeeper with a big smile, he must really like chatting with Su Yuanyuan, right?

”Let’s go to a restaurant to eat, my treat,” Cao Boyang said with a smile.

”Alright, let’s go, we shouldn’t hold up Xiao Su’s important matters.”

All three laughed, and Su Yuanyuan felt maybe she was a bit too hurried.

The restaurant’s offerings were quite average, but Su Yuanyuan was happy, so even the smell seemed nice to her.

Shen Shao Hong and Peng Haishan went to fetch the food.

”Xiao Su, we’re going to trouble you again. We’ve prepared another hundred pounds of meat; could you help with sausage making?”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”No problem, I’ll go to the transportation team in the afternoon to settle the truck matters. That way, I’ll have time.”

”Great, the three of us will finish work early tonight and chop the meat.”

Everyone knows, chopping meat is the most tiring job.

Su Yuanyuan nodded, she didn’t mind; she wasn’t tired, and even if she did it all herself, it wasn’t something requiring much strength.

Honestly, Su Yuanyuan was willing to befriend the three of them. They seemed like worthwhile people to associate with, and there would be a lot of demand for pesticides in the future.

It’s easier getting things done with acquaintances. Isn’t that just proven here? They are locals; for outsiders like them, it’s crystal clear.

After the four of them were full, they went to the sprayer factory together. Su Yuanyuan sat in Shen Shao Hong’s car and thought that sitting in a car wasn’t actually as comfortable as cycling.

In such a large city, all three seemed quite resourceful. The sprayer factory was also very accommodating. Su Yuanyuan ordered thirty units and was told she could come to collect them once the pesticide was ready.

Su Yuanyuan paid seven hundred and fifty yuan and received a receipt. This made her feel more at ease.

She suddenly thought she could buy some easily damageable spare parts.

It was a quick transaction; they gave Su Yuanyuan what she needed, and it only cost a hundred yuan.

The four of them left the factory. ”You guys go back to work; I’m headed to the transportation team.”

”Take my bicycle, oh, do you know how to ride?”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head, ”No need, it’s not too far, and I have time in the afternoon anyway.”

She declined the bicycle and went alone to the transportation team.

Su Yuanyuan was in a great mood, two things she deemed difficult went so smoothly. It felt like she had completed her tasks.

There’s weed killer left; it’ll save a lot of effort next year. After going back, she planned to visit the fertilizer factory. Regardless of others, she wanted to figure out a way to get ten tons of fertilizer.

Su Yuanyuan knew that this wouldn’t be considered pesticide-free organic produce in the future, but there was no other way.

She walked about half an hour to reach the transportation team and saw five trucks parked in the yard. She wondered if she could book one.

”Comrade, I’m here to book a truck.”

The guard was a middle-aged man and looked quite stern.

”Go right in, head straight to the office to ask.”

Su Yuanyuan found the team leader and explained her situation. She also handed over an introduction letter for the leader to see.

”You’re loading up the day after tomorrow?”

”Yes, the pesticide factory scheduled it for that time.”

”Alright, at nine o’clock the day after tomorrow, the truck will head directly to the pesticide factory. However, the transportation fee to your farm is two hundred and thirty yuan.”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, and without any small talk, handed over four hundred and sixty yuan.

They processed the paperwork, so now it’s just a matter of waiting.

Leaving the transportation team, Su Yuanyuan finally felt truly relieved.

She didn’t wander about outside; she headed straight back to the inn. Sometimes, one needs calm after excitement, and Su Yuanyuan was that kind of person.

Returning to the inn, she saw that Zheng Lanying’s luggage was still there; she hadn’t left yet?

Or did she already find a job at the transportation team?

Su Yuanyuan didn’t believe she could work at the transportation team. After all, many local people were still unemployed, and running transportation jobs wasn’t easy. If the weather changed or a vehicle had issues, it wasn’t something a woman could handle.

It’s not just about being able to drive forward. Even if theoretically you don’t understand, you should know how to commonly fix issues and handle basic repairs.

Furthermore, judging from Zheng Lanying’s situation, she seemed to have learned to drive a car, and there’s quite a difference between trucks and cars.

So essentially she had little hope.

Lying down to read a book, she still had work to do at night. Honestly, Su Yuanyuan thought about doing it tomorrow, but the others still had to work.

However, with three of them working, it should be much faster.

Now, she felt a bit fortunate she hadn’t brought out sausages, otherwise, they’d like them even more.

Su Yuanyuan sometimes felt that food was the least obstructive way. You might not communicate through words, but food can definitely bridge relationships. Now she understood why restaurants were so popular in the future; there was nothing a meal couldn’t solve.

As she lay there, she actually dozed off. She was awoken by the sound of the door opening.

Seeing Zheng Lanying come in, this girl seemed to have taken a hit, looking dispirited and pitiful.

”Su Yuanyuan, I failed. They didn’t even ask anything and just rejected me.”

”I went to the transportation team today, and seeing the big truck made me feel really scared; can you really drive?” Su Yuanyuan decided to comfort her little fellow villager.

Zheng Lanying was a bit agitated, ”Why wouldn’t I be able to? It’s just driving, isn’t it?”

”But last year when we transported fertilizer, the truck broke down halfway, and the driver took several hours to fix it. Can you repair a vehicle?” Su Yuanyuan thought she should talk more with her and make her less naive.

This made Zheng Lanying wilt, ”I can’t, I can drive, but I’ve never driven a truck.”

”Actually, don’t be discouraged, driving is quite dangerous. You have no idea how slippery it is on snowy roads.”

Zheng Lanying suddenly felt that Su Yuanyuan made a lot of sense. There’s no insurance right now; what would happen if she really had a traffic accident?

Just relying on what she knows, she should be able to live well, right?

Besides, even if it doesn’t work out, she could still aim to take the college entrance exam; she wouldn’t be stuck in the countryside forever. After all, she’s a university student; aiming for college should be pretty easy. Why do dangerous jobs?
