My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 499: Chapter 223: Observing the Well

Su Nian hesitated. ”Well, I’m not entirely sure... Senior Brother Yun’s condition has always been unstable. But for a while after he started taking the honey you brought, his condition really did improve a little... At least, his memory seems better than before... He’s even called me by my name several times!”

Su Nian was getting excited, but then she grew a little embarrassed. ”I’m not certain if it was specifically because of the honey... but since you came today, Senior Brother, I just had to ask...”

But a glint quickly appeared in Qin Fang’s eyes.

’He hadn’t forgotten the properties of the Treasure Plant in that cave.’

’When he swept his Divine Sense over it, there was nothing there!’

It was very strange.

He couldn’t even see the hive or the Giant Bees.

’And those Giant Bees hardly ever left the cave; they just swarmed around that Treasure Plant...’

’It was obvious where they were collecting their nectar...’

’Could it be? Is that Treasure Plant somehow related to Divine Sense?’

Qin Fang’s mind began to race.

Su Nian watched Qin Fang with anticipation. But when she saw him lost in thought and not answering, she waited for a moment before a hint of disappointment surfaced in her eyes. ”If there’s no more, then forget it,” she said quickly. ”I was probably just overthinking things... Senior Brother...”

”I have some.”

Qin Fang snapped out of his thoughts, cutting Su Nian off. ”I didn’t destroy that Giant Bee hive; I’ve left it alone. Whenever I leave the sect, I make a trip to bring some back... It doesn’t matter if it’s just your imagination. As long as there’s even a small chance, we can’t let it pass... If Senior Brother Yun can fully recover, it would mean a great deal to our Sect.”

”If that stuff really helps with Senior Brother Yun’s injuries, then all the better. Even if it doesn’t... at least it’s a nice treat. Next time I bring some honey back, I’ll send some over to you.”

Hearing Qin Fang’s answer, Su Nian froze. Then her eyes welled up, and she couldn’t stop herself from crying.

Wiping the corners of her eyes, she stammered, ”Th-thank you, Senior Brother.”

Seeing this, Qin Fang let out a soft sigh...

’They’re clearly one of the Six Meridians, yet they’ve withered away to this state. It must be so difficult for Su Nian.’

The biggest reason was that cultivating Divine Sense was simply too perilous. It was all too easy to damage one’s Divine Sense, and such injuries were incredibly difficult to heal.

’If that honey really does have a miraculous effect on healing Divine Sense...’

After another soft sigh, he said, ”I’ll probably go in a little while. I’ll come back then.”

”Okay, okay. Take care, Senior Brother.” Su Nian nodded eagerly, her respect and fondness for Qin Fang growing.

Qin Fang nodded. Without another word, he turned and shot into the sky.

He didn’t return to Linyuan Peak or go to Guiyuan Valley. Instead, he went straight to his master’s residence.

...His master and the others hadn’t returned yet.

Qin Fang was too worried about the Ancient Well. Until he knew exactly what was going on, he couldn’t find the peace of mind to cultivate.

’Besides, he had to speak with his master about cultivating Divine Sense.’

’He needed his master’s approval.’

’It was the proper way for a disciple to act.’

And so, Qin Fang began his wait at the summit.

In what felt like a blink of an eye, the sky began to darken.

A figure landed on the summit.

Qin Fang, who had been waiting all day, immediately shot to his feet. He took one look—who else could it be but his master?

”Master.”

Qin Fang quickly rose and bowed in greeting.

Seeing Qin Fang there upon his return, his master’s face broke into a warm smile. He nodded gently. ”Been waiting long?”

”Not really.”

”Mm, sit.”

His master gestured for him to sit. Qin Fang poured his master a cup of tea; he had boiled fresh water and prepared it while he waited.

His master accepted it with a gratified expression and took a sip.

Looking at the respectful disciple before him, he felt immensely satisfied...

’That Old Ghost Han wanted to snatch this precious disciple from him?’

’As if I would ever give you the chance.’

Yue Guiyuan sneered inwardly.

After a soft exhale, his master’s expression turned grave. ”We’ve more or less figured out the situation at the Ancient Well... It’s a convergence point for filth, deathly energy, and resentful energy... It is almost certainly connected to the Three Religions.”

”Today, we investigated the surrounding area and discovered that in addition to the Ancient Well, someone has set up an Array nearby. The Array is extremely well-concealed, and we don’t know its purpose.”

”But it’s most likely also related to the Three Religions.”

”Though we don’t know its purpose, the Sect Leader has already dismantled the Array.”

”The crucial part is the Ancient Well.”

”The foul, deathly, and resentful energy of the Three Religions within that Ancient Well is too ferocious. It’s not something that could have been created overnight... What you and your War Gang Avatar triggered today was likely just a small fraction of it. There’s a much larger portion... it’s as if it’s either slumbering or suppressing something...”

”Afterward, the Sect Leader also summoned Yun Guanyu. After investigating with his Divine Sense, Yun Guanyu said it contained a terrifying power, distinct from the foul, deathly, and resentful energy... He couldn’t determine whether that energy is suppressing something... or what it’s doing. But one thing is certain: if it’s rashly disturbed, the repercussions will be immense.”

”So, your Master Xing and Master Duan are now stationed there to prevent the people from the Three Religions from causing any more trouble. At the same time, the Sect Leader intends to invite representatives from the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect and several other sects from the nearby Prefecture Cities to investigate the Ancient Well together.”

”This is no longer a matter for our Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect to handle alone.”

”Because judging by that Array, the Ancient Well is likely just a single Array Hub in a much larger network... It’s highly probable that more, similar Array Hubs exist...”

His master slowly recounted the results of their investigation and the Sect’s decisions.

Qin Fang’s expression grew heavy as he listened...

’What erupted today was just a small fraction of the power?’

’And an even greater power, different from that of the Three Religions, lies sleeping beneath it?’
