My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 298: Chapter 155: Sensation

...What can you do? They’re the local powerhouse. How are you supposed to fight that?

Fight them to the death, consequences be damned?

Sure, during the Martial Arts Examination, you’re staying at the Post House. You have its protection, so they can’t do anything to you.

But...

What happens when the Martial Arts Examination is over?

What happens when you have to leave?

Even if you successfully enter the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect and join the Inner Sect... as long as you aren’t one of the twelve chosen disciples who receive special attention...

...if they decide they want revenge, you’re still going to have a very hard time.

Besides, most people probably won’t even make it into the Inner Sect. The best they can hope for is a spot in the Outer Sect...

In that case, the situation would be even worse.

Once you’re outside the jurisdiction of the rules that keep them in check, a single word from a Divine Family like that is enough to ruin you and your entire family!

That was why Li Yao had truly never seen anyone as hard-headed as Qin Fang.

But the Post House’s rules were ironclad. Now that Qin Fang had chosen to issue a challenge, Li Yao had already tried to talk him out of it. Since he wouldn’t listen, there was nothing more Li Yao could do.

”You need to fill out a challenge slip...”

Li Yao said helplessly.

”Where is it? I’ll fill it out,” Qin Fang said, his eyes narrowed.

Li Yao walked into the Zhi Lu and returned shortly after with a booklet. As he handed the booklet and a pen to Qin Fang, he tried to confirm one last time, ”Young Master Qin, perhaps... you should reconsider?”

Qin Fang smiled. ”Thanks, but I’ve already thought it through very clearly.”

After speaking, he took the pen and filled out the challenge slip in the designated spot.

Li Yao sighed. ”Very well... Tomorrow at the third quarter of the chen hour, at the same Martial Arts Training Ground as today.”

”Alright.”

Qin Fang nodded, thanked him again, and turned to leave.

Li Yao shook his head as he watched Qin Fang’s departing figure.

A few of the nearby Soldiers who had been listening in sighed. ”He’s certainly full of youthful vigor... can’t stand to suffer the slightest loss.”

”Shen Han is not an easy person to deal with...”

”He is a member of the Shen Family, after all, and they’re a Divine Family... I wonder who will win tomorrow?”

”Even our leader was amazed by this Qin Fang’s Martial Arts Realm. Qin Fang will probably win... but the real question is, what happens after he wins? ...Those heirs of noble families value their pride more than anything. This is also Shen Han’s last chance, so Qin Fang has offended him deeply. I’m afraid Shen Han is bound to retaliate.”

The Black Armored Soldiers all shook their heads, murmuring amongst themselves.

Meanwhile, Qin Fang walked on, his eyes narrowed.

’Of course, he’d understood the unspoken meaning in Li Yao’s words.’

’It was just about the Shen Family retaliating later.’

’But... setting aside whether the Shen Family would retaliate, even if he hadn’t gone looking for Shen Han, would Shen Han have left him alone?’

’Geng Ye’s probing today had exposed his true cultivation, making him a threat to Shen Han and the other lowest-ranked contenders.’

’They would never let things stay this calm.’

’If that’s the case... why should I hold back?’

Qin Fang’s eyes narrowed.

’Besides, he was still planning on making money off these people.’

He licked his lips.

He strode toward his own courtyard.

’Tomorrow should be quite lively.’

...

”What did you say?”

A Courtyard, Nineteen Courtyard.

Shen Han stared intently at the Black Armored Soldier before him. ”He... challenged me?”

The Black Armored Soldier replied in a low voice, ”Yes. He just went to the Zhi Lu and filled out a challenge slip. Tomorrow, at the third quarter of the chen hour...”

Shen Han’s face turned ashen. CRACK! The Jade Pendant he had been toying with in his hand shattered with a crisp sound, turning to dust.

”Good. What incredible nerve!”

He ground his teeth, his gaze chilling. ”Some mud-caked peasant who crawled out of who-knows-what poor backwater gets lucky enough to touch the threshold of Huajin, and he thinks he can... bare his fangs here in Lanyang City? What does he take Lanyang City for?”

The people around him didn’t dare make a sound. Two Maids exchanged glances, their faces filled with anger.

’An insult to the master is a death sentence for the servant!’

”Young Master, should we...”

one of them began in a low voice, her tone laced with a chilling killing intent.

But Shen Han raised a hand, his eyes dark. ”He’s not worthy of making me break the rules... Fine. Since he insists on ramming his worthless body against a brick wall... I’ll put in some effort to make him remember that some thresholds... were never meant for people like him!”

His gaze was incredibly grim; he was clearly furious.

’To him, the very fact that someone dared to bare their fangs at him within the Post House... was a tremendous insult!’

”You may go. I know. I will be there on time tomorrow,” he said to the Black Armored Soldier, his expression cold.

The Black Armored Soldier bowed and left.

「Meanwhile.」

”He actually challenged Shen Han directly?”

In A Fifteen Courtyard, Qian Ruhai was visiting, with Lin Chen by his side.

”I knew it. When he asked me those questions today, I knew he wouldn’t just swallow a small loss like that... I just didn’t expect his revenge to be so direct,” he exclaimed in amazement.

Lin Chen sat to the side, looking at the person who had come to deliver the news. He was silent for a long moment before suddenly asking, ”You don’t seem to have a place in the Post House, do you? What are you doing here every day?”

Hearing this, Qian Ruhai burst out laughing. ”Look at you, why are you so stingy? I can’t help it. The A Courtyard is full, and in the B Courtyard, you get challenged every day. My own courtyard is just too small... Besides, isn’t it nice to have someone to chat with and pass the time on a long night like this?”

Lin Chen looked speechlessly at Qian Ruhai’s shameless expression, his eyelid twitching. ”You’re not even participating in the Martial Arts Examination. What are you doing hanging around the Post House all day?”

”I may not be taking the Martial Arts Examination, but the Post House is a great place to meet new friends... See? Didn’t I just meet one this time?” Qian Ruhai said with a grin, his eyes narrowed.

”He won’t be joining your ’Wan Tong Commerce Association’,” Lin Chen sneered.

”That doesn’t matter. My Wan Tong Commerce Association connects trade in all directions. We’ve never relied on ourselves, but on having many friends.”

Qian Ruhai smiled. ”Harmony breeds wealth, after all... As long as we’ve made a friend, what does it matter whether he’s part of the Wan Tong Commerce Association or not?”
