My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 283: Chapter 150: Chaotic Situation

The middle-aged man quickly said, ”Of course. I...”

He recounted the day’s events, explaining how after entering the city, he hadn’t even gone to his job site first. Instead, he went directly to the delivery address, afraid he might accidentally lose or damage the letter while working.

But when he couldn’t find anyone, he asked the neighbors for information. Only after confirming the residence had been uninhabited for years did he finally hurry to his job. He was even late as a result, which almost delayed his work.

As soon as he finished his work, he rushed back without a moment’s rest. On top of that, the crowd leaving the city was large, and the queue delayed him, which was why he was late, he explained...

The middle-aged man didn’t seem to be lying. Qin Fang’s heart grew heavy. He nodded and handed him the Silver Notes.

After a few polite refusals, the man accepted them.

Qin Fang asked about a few more details, and the man answered every question without hesitation.

The hope Qin Fang had been clinging to finally died.

’Master and the others... they really didn’t go to the Inner City.’

’Then where did they go?’

’Could it be that they encountered some danger after they left?’

’Like... people from the Blood Luo Sect?’

’Or maybe...’

For a moment, Qin Fang’s expression shifted constantly, his fists clenched tightly.

After receiving the final payment, the middle-aged man took his leave. Qin Fang sat in the teahouse for a long while before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.

He left the teahouse, found a horse-drawn carriage, and returned to the Post House.

At night, the entrance to the Post House was brightly lit. When Qin Fang tried to enter, he was stopped... Chief Li wasn’t there today.

Only after showing his Temporary Passage Token was Qin Fang allowed to enter the Post House and return to the 7th Floor of Building C.

He appeared preoccupied the entire way, his gaze grim and his face expressionless.

The people in D Building across the way saw him and reflexively looked over, their gazes following him. Then they began to whisper amongst themselves...

Many of them had gone to watch the challenge match that morning and now knew that this young man was a genuine Huajin Martial Artist.

And so incredibly young, too.

This involuntarily filled their gazes with a measure of awe...

...In any case, the strong always inspire awe.

Returning to C-7, Qin Fang activated the mechanism, pushed the door open, and closed the courtyard gate behind him.

Once he was back in his room, Qin Fang finally closed his eyes.

After a long while, he let out a long breath.

When he opened his eyes again, his gaze had become resolute.

’Master and the others... something’s happened to them.’

’No matter what’s happened, I have to stay calm.’

’In times of crisis, one must remain calm. The more complicated the situation, the more composed I have to be.’

’Otherwise, I’ll only make things more complicated.’

He began to carefully think back, speculating on and analyzing his master’s and the others’ potential circumstances.

There were basically two possibilities.

First, remnants of the Blood Luo Sect.

’They left a month after the big crackdown. It’s possible some remnants of the Blood Luo Sect were still around at that time.’

’But that terrifying monster shouldn’t still be around... Since that Great Power named Yue Zhenyuan took action, he surely wouldn’t have let the big fish get away. At most, there might be some small fry who slipped through the net.’

’Besides, Master and my senior brother are no fools, and Master has even reached the Huajin realm. If they had truly run into Blood Luo Sect remnants on the way, it’s unlikely they would’ve been killed... They would have probably returned to Old Ox Back to regroup.’

Second, they ran into trouble only after entering the city.

If that was the case, then there were far too many possibilities.

’Senior Sister’s status is extremely high. She has many admirers, all of whom hold powerful positions... Even Qian Ruhai knew about her admirers, so it must be true.’

’Master is her father. These admirers wouldn’t dare harm him... On the contrary, they’d have to treat him well.’

’But... what if someone who is in love with one of her admirers became consumed by jealousy and decided to cause trouble behind the scenes?’

’...Of course, that’s just a wild, baseless guess.’

’It’s not just jealous rivals... There’s also the fact that a Supreme Elder of the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect took a liking to Senior Sister and wants to make her a True Inheritance disciple. Could a competitor for that same position have made a move? Their goal would be to disturb her peace of mind and make her lose the title of True Inheritance?’

’...That’s also very possible.’

’After all, from my conversation with Qian Ruhai today, I now know that the position of a True Inheritance disciple in the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect is unexpectedly prestigious.’

’Power, identity, status...’

’Root Skills and Leaf Skills to increase one’s power...’

’People would resort to any kind of sinister plot for things like these!’

But the more he thought about it, the more tangled his thoughts became, leaving him without a clear direction.

In the end, he took a deep breath and looked out the window.

”The only thing to do now is... find Senior Sister and figure out her current situation.”

”Only after I’ve figured out what’s going on with Senior Sister can I make a better judgment about where Master and the others might have run into trouble.”

But Senior Sister was clearly not someone he could meet just because he wanted to.

Even...

”I also have to hide my relationship with Senior Sister... otherwise, even I could get into trouble.”

”It seems... the only way is through the Martial Arts Examination.”

”Only by distinguishing myself in the Martial Arts Examination and being accepted into the Inner Sect of the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect... will I have a legitimate opportunity to inquire about Senior Sister’s current situation, maybe even make contact with her, and then find out what happened to Master and the others.”

”...No, maybe Senior Sister doesn’t even know that something happened to them yet?”

Qin Fang looked out the window.

The complex and chaotic situation left Qin Fang in thought for a long time.

「The next day.」

Qin Fang didn’t leave his room. He had sat in quiet contemplation all night, and now his gaze was electric.

”It looks like I’ll have to fight for one of those twelve seats.”

Merely entering the Inner Sect probably wasn’t enough of a guarantee. Only by becoming one of the twelve seat-holders and obtaining a considerable status within the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect would he have a chance to uncover the truth.
