My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 154: Chapter 108: Borrowing Lodging

As long as you were in the market, it was impossible to avoid dealing with gang members.

Rather than wait for trouble to come knocking, he decided to go make some trouble for them first.

His gaze flickered. Then, holding Xile, he walked toward the courtyard.

A short while later, he arrived in front of the courtyard. Inside, it was pitch-black and silent. Of course, Qin Fang couldn’t judge if it was truly silent. His left eardrum had been ruptured, and every sound was muffled, as if filtered through a drum. He could hear louder noises, but quieter ones were another matter entirely.

With a light leap, he was over the wall and into the courtyard. It was deserted. He walked straight toward the house...

Jiang Xin, a robust man in his forties, was sleeping soundly in his room. He didn’t stir until a sudden knocking, which sounded as if it were right beside his ear, startled him from his deep slumber.

His eyes snapped open, but all he saw was a dim, yellow light. He was still dazed.

A voice spoke. ”Awake?”

Jiang Xin, not yet fully alert, instinctively glanced to the side.

At the desk in his bedroom sat a man. He wore a straw raincoat, his bamboo hat resting on the table beside him, revealing a pale and handsome face.

On the table lay a bundle wrapped in black cloth. A small mutt was also on the table, and the man was stroking its head, picking burrs and bits of grass from its fur...

The man’s completely casual demeanor left Jiang Xin a bit stunned.

’Is he the master here?’

He even glanced around in a daze before finally confirming...

’This is my house, isn’t it?!’

”Who the hell are you?!”

He finally snapped back to his senses and glared at the young man.

The young man glanced up at him, but instead of answering, he asked, ”Are you Jiang Xin?”

This presumptuous attitude made a fire of rage flare up in Jiang Xin’s chest. Without a word, he spun around, leaped off the bed, and threw a punch straight at the other man!

’Damn it... barging into my room in the middle of the night, and he even lit a lamp? Does he really think I won’t get pissed off...?’

The thought hadn’t even finished forming when the young man casually slapped out with one hand. Though he moved second, his palm landed first, striking Jiang Xin’s stomach.

He let out a muffled grunt. The strength seemed to vanish from his body as he staggered backward, finally collapsing onto the floor.

He lay there for a long moment, unable to recover!

He stared at the young man in disbelief. After a long moment, he finally managed to speak.

”Anjin...”

The moment the palm struck, he felt as if his stomach had been pierced clean through... Only Anjin could produce such terrifying Penetration Power!

’...But how old is this kid?!’

’He doesn’t even look twenty, does he?!’

’...When did I ever provoke someone like this?!’

Jiang Xin was completely speechless. That one slap had nearly knocked the wind out of him.

But he knew... the young man had even shown him mercy.

Otherwise, that one strike would have been enough to take his life!

”Calmer now?”

Qin Fang asked.

Jiang Xin’s face flushed crimson, but in the end, he could only nod.

’He’s just too strong!’

’This is so humiliating!’

”You don’t need to worry about who I am, Gang Leader Jiang. You can also rest assured that I mean you no harm... I just need a place to lay low for a while. After some time passes, I’ll naturally leave. Am I making myself clear enough?”

The young man tilted his head to look at Jiang Xin.

Jiang Xin hesitated for a moment, then nodded to show that he understood.

The young man looked at Jiang Xin and nodded. ”I know this is a rather impolite way to greet you for the first time, Gang Leader Jiang, but I was afraid any other approach would lead to more misunderstandings.”

Going directly to Jiang Xin was the most straightforward method.

Otherwise, no matter where Qin Fang went, he was likely to cause a major disturbance... He couldn’t very well sleep in a shack for the night, could he?

When he was powerless and on the run, a shack would have been more than enough.

But now that he had this kind of power, forcing himself to suffer like that... Wouldn’t that make all his training a complete waste?

Besides, even sleeping in a shack wasn’t a guarantee against conflict...

As the saying goes, it’s easier to deal with the King of the Underworld than his demons.

The Nanhe Gang had a large number of members under its command, and those men were used to bullying the common folk. Seeing him, they wouldn’t necessarily be polite.

And if that stirred up a commotion, or even a conflict... it would all be completely unnecessary.

Therefore, skipping the ”demons” and going straight to the ”King of the Underworld” was the best solution at hand.

Jiang Xin finally caught his breath. He let out a long exhale, pursed his lips, and then said, ”Sir... what is it you really want?”

”Nothing much. I’m just borrowing your place for a while, that’s all,” Qin Fang said calmly.

Jiang Xin seethed with humiliation. ’Borrowing your place? For a little while?’

’Look at the way you’re acting!’

’Anyone who didn’t know better would think you’re the master of this house!’

His face was grim, but he finally forced himself to speak, his voice laced with humiliation. ”That’s not a problem, of course... I love making new friends... May I ask for your name, sir?”

”You don’t need to ask. I’ll just be staying for a while before I leave. Could be three to five days, could be ten or so.”

Qin Fang said calmly, ”During this time, I’ll have to ask you to be discreet, Gang Leader Jiang.”

”Our meeting is a matter of fate. But I hope it proves to be a fortunate fate, not a disastrous one.”

Qin Fang’s veiled threat made Jiang Xin’s heart jump. He swallowed nervously.

’...This is an Anjin Martial Artist!’

He had no choice but to obey.

Besides, Jiang Xin had been around the block for many years. Hearing this, he understood the situation completely... This was a fugitive, a powerful ”Overseas Dragon.”

’What fucking rotten luck!’

’...How can something like this happen while I’m sleeping in my own home?!’

Jiang Xin could have died from frustration, but he still took a deep breath and said, ”Rest assured, sir. I’ve been around for many years, so I understand how things work. I won’t breathe a single word about you to anyone. I only hope... you can keep your promise.”
