Shrouding the Heavens

Chapter 139 - 140 Seeing the Old Madman Again

A huge flower blossomed, looking as if it were made of five-colored crystal, auspicious lights puffing out of it and swaying with gentle light.

Within this marvellous flower was a green-clothed old man with white hair, his face tender like jade without the slightest wrinkle, his eyes as deep as the ocean.

Behind him it was pitch-black like a bottomless pit.

That void also gave people a feeling of a profound Grand Dao.

A light sound came from the flower beneath his feet and the petals dimmed, quickly wilting as if meeting frost, the vine then also withering and falling from the sky.

The Ji Family’s senior hadn’t moved, but the pitch-place void behind him released a black light that completely covered the sky above the summit.

This pitch-blackness appeared like black clouds were descending down, but its pressure was boundless, causing people to be unable to breathe, like a huge black mountain was suppressing them.

Li Ruoyu was still standing in his original position, also not moving, but the surrounding plants all flickered with green light.

A huge ancient tree quickly grew, soaring into the sky, spreading out like an enormous umbrella and completely stopping that endless black light.

BANG!

Suddenly, a black trident appeared within the sky, chopping through that huge tree and now attempting to pierce through Zhuo Peak.

It was a hundred meters long, seemingly capable of ripping apart heaven and earth.

A white waterfall upon Zhuo Peak charged into the air, appearing like a silver dragon soaring to the heavens, immediately winding around the black trident.

There was no intense collision, no dazzling light.

The silver waterfall was very gentle, but completely bound the huge trident.

“A natural Grand Dao truly is amazing.” The sky turned completely dark, the black clouds surged and descended down, rays of purple thunder flashing within them.

All of the vegetation around Li Ruoyu overflowed with fragrance, endless green light soaring up.

A rain of light filled the sky, a natural and gentle energy circulating through the sky and filling the surroundings.

Whoosh… The Great Void Art!

The Ji Family’s senior wordlessly appeared behind Li Ruoyu, his palm slamming forward.

BANG!

Li Ruoyu seemed to be able to see through the void, catching up to the Great Void Art’s tracks, waving his palm back.

The two palms collided together, releasing a terrifying power.

However, it didn’t wreck havoc over Zhuo Peak, but completely disappeared within the sky.

Their palms collided again and again, terrifying power soaring up out of Zhuo Peak, like thunder was ripping apart the sky.

By using the Great Void Art, the Ji Family’s senior was able to become untraceable and teleport to different locations.

This was a supreme secret art.

But Li Ruoyu seemed to be able to predict it.

His movements were natural and fluid, waving his sleeves and blocking his attacks from all directions.

BOOM!

In the end, a huge black hand that covered the very sky descended down onto Zhuo Peak, seemingly wanting to pull it out.

This kind of frightening spectacle caused people’s heart to jump.

The energy waves completely intimidated them, causing them to have no choice but to tremble.

Great Void Handprint!

This method was completely shocking and intimidating.

Normal cultivators would be completely unable to resist at all or even summon the courage to fight back.

It was like a world was collapsing on itself.

Li Ruoyu soared up, using a single palm to face it.

In that instant, Zhuo Peak was filled with a natural air, green light and black light interweaving.

Li Ruoyu and the huge black hand were both within those lights.

Bursts of oppressed sounds continuously rang out, shaking the surrounding mountains.

The people watching this felt their hearts turn cold.

In the end, there was no destructive explosion.

All of the lights vanished, the black hand slowly fading.

Li Ruoyu descended down onto Zhuo Peak again.

“Good!

Zhuo Peak’s inheritance is truly amazing.

It isn’t an ancient scripture, but it can be compared to an ancient scripture, a natural Dao.

You might really become Zhuo Peak’s second supreme expert.” The Ji Family’s senior also descended onto the ground.

Neither of them had used their full strength.

This was just a simple probing, but it was enough to completely overwhelm others.

“Is there anything I can help senior with?” asked Li Ruoyu.

Ye Fan was startled.

Li Ruoyu was at such a large age, but he still had to call the other a senior?

This was definitely an ancestor of the Ji Family.

“Just calmly thinking about taking a stroll and conveniently happened by to find a descendant.” Ji Ziyue was hiding within the small wooden house, but she now walked out, saying, “Why are you here, grandfather?” “Naturally, it is to find you.” “Older brother Ji Hong has graced my Taixuan Sect with his presence, why didn’t you send a greeting?”a Grand Elder of the Taixuan Sect called out from the distance.

“I was hasty and barged in.

Please forgive me, my friend.” Ji Hong cupped his hands to that Grand Elder.

Ji Hong rose into the air and flew towards that space to greet his old friend.

— Atop Zhuo Peak, Ye Fan was very worried and was prepared to flee.

But if he were to do so he felt that he would be extremely rude to Li Ruoyu.

Just at this moment, Ji Ziyue seemed to sense something and gracefully flew over, blocking his path.

“Little brat, are you thinking of slipping away?” “What?

Of course not.

I’m just taking a walk.

You’re too sensitive,” Ye Fan flatly denied.

“Your body definitely has many secrets, otherwise why would you be so worried…” Ji Ziyue circled around him and said, “In a bit you’ll come with me back to the Ji Family.” Even if you kill me, I won’t go!

This was what Ye Fan was thinking, but on the outside he smiled and said, “That’s what I wanted all along.

To be able to marry into the Ji Family, that would be excellent.” “Little brat, what do you even know…” Ji Ziyue laughed, “I have a younger cousin who just turned nine.

She’s a good match for you.” “It’s not like I’m lacking in daughters…” “What kind of crap are you saying?”!

Ji Ziyue glared at him.

In the end, Ji Hong returned back to Zhuo Peak and called upon Ji Ziyue.

“I have something I need to do.

Don’t randomly leave the Taixuan Sect.

The situation outside is somewhat complicated.” He then hurriedly left.

Ye Fan was most pleased with such a conclusion.

It looked like he currently had enough time to prepare to leave.

— Not long after, Taixuan Sect’s Head Elder, as well as several ancestors, flew out from within the 108 main peaks towards a distant location.

“What have they found?” Many disciples within the sect were discussing why the Head Elder as well as the Grand Elders would all be disturbed at the same time.

This was something that hadn’t occurred in many years.

— The news only arrived a day later: an old madman had appeared within the nation of Wei who was suspected to be a peerless expert from six thousand years ago.

This news shook dozens of the surrounding nations.

The Ji Family, the Flickering Light Sacred Land, and the Taixuan Sect’s peak experts all went to track him down.

“So it was actually a peerless expert.

He’s lived for six thousand years and is still in this world?

That’s impossible!” “How could a person live for six thousand years?

He’s a living history book, having survived through dark and bright times.

It really is a wonder.” Many people within the Taixuan Sect were animatedly discussing this topic.

Ye Fan was shaken when he heard this news.

It was definitely that old madman!

Six thousand years ago, the Celestial Jade Sacred Land was in its most flourishing age and assembled its entire force to barge into the Ancient Desolation Forbidden Land.

After that, they basically completely disappeared from this world.

The old madman was the sole survivor.

Many people wanted to know just what happened six thousand years ago, and just what the “Desolation” within that bottomless abyss was.

Six thousand years ago, the old madman’s cultivation base was actually world-shaking, practically unrivalled within the Eastern Wastelands.

For a peak figure like him to live for six thousand years and not die, everyone wanted to know what kind of realm he had managed to reach, how far he was from Immortality, and wished they could listen to his teachings.

Even the supreme existences like the Ji Family and the Flickering Light Sacred Land didn’t have Grand Elders that were comparable to him.

He was practically a living fossil.

A great ancient figure like him was even more appealing than several of the ancient scriptures of the Eastern Wastelands.

— More news came on the third day.

“That old man has gone completely mad.

No one could discuss anything with him.

He kept crying and laughing, completely unable to communicate.” “So frightening.

That many ancestors were sent flying by the wave of his sleeve and no one was able to get close.

He was already outstanding six thousand years ago.

Now there’s no way to estimate how powerful he is.” “He’s disappeared.

After just taking a couple steps, endless mountains and plains disappeared behind him, directly leaving the area of Wei.

Not a single person was able to catch up to his footwork.

Even by flying it was impossible to keep up with him.” At this time, Ji Ziyue blocked Ye Fan and didn’t let him leave.

“Was your footwork learned from that old madman?” “What are you randomly saying?

I don’t get it!” Ye Fan resolutely denied it.

“There’s a definitely a great connection.

Our Ji Family’s ancient texts have detailed records of that transcendent footwork capable of contracting the land into just a finger-length.

It is completely unrivalled, and only the old madman knows it.” Ye Fan was feeling that this girl was more and more clever.

She had noticed almost all of his secrets, and just the slightest lapse in attention allowed her to sense something.

— “Senior, does this world really have Immortals?” Ye Fan arrived at the mountain summit and consulted with Li Ruoyu.

“People always ask this.

Whether they exist or not is not important.

What matters is whether you have a firm faith that the immortal path can be walked, and to continue pressing forward.” “What realm has the old madman reached?

According to logic, to live six thousand years is a miracle.

It’s impossible to do without achieving Immortality.

Even the Eastern Wasteland’s divine body is not able to live that long.” “Without becoming an Immortal, one instead becomes an insane devil.

He might be such an existence,” Li Ruoyu sighed.

Within the Taixuan Sect, other than the 108 main peaks, there were also countless normal mountains that were deserted just like the old Zhuo Peak.

Ye Fan had been preparing to leave over these few days, and was continuously wandering around the Taixuan Sect.

He asked others how to get the sect to open a Domain Gate for someone.

As the sun set, the land and sky was dyed red.

He arrived at an extremely empty mountain ridge.

The grass here was withered and vines covered the ground.

At this very moment, he was struck dumb.

Atop the mountain ridge, facing towards the western setting sun, was a white-haired old man lying upon a large piece of bluestone.

His clothes were ragged and archaic, not at all like this era’s clothing.

He was muttered something within his mouth, and his turbid old eyes held two teardrops.

It was the old madman!

Ye Fan had never expected he would meet him here within the Taixuan Sect.

Why would he appear here?

Hadn’t he taken just a couple steps to completely leave Wei?
