Lust System: Harem Of Beautiful Women

Chapter 593  Jealous Girl

During the more than hour that Luis sat down, he had been extremely unlucky, and after midnight, there was no sign of turning his luck around.

Throughout the entire process, the others had their ups and downs, but this one guy, after being annoyed by Luis a few times, was in a terrible state of mind. He was so unlucky that he hit two consecutive hands and lost badly.

In one hand, he encountered a very nasty situation: a flush against a flush, and he lost by just a tiny margin.

The second hand, he clashed with Fatty, who was on a hot streak. Both had straight flushes of 90J. According to the local rules, if the cards are the same, the one who shows their hand first loses.

Fatty had been winning all night and was full of confidence. Daniel, who had just lost a flush hand and was in a bad mood, lost a few rounds of money and then, feeling nervous, showed his cards first.

Everyone was in an uproar, but he was the only one with a dark expression, because the probability of having the exact same hand was also extremely low.

If it were just a high card, it wouldnʼt be so bad, but itʼs very rare to see a straight or a pair clash like that, let alone a flush or a straight flush. The probability is even lower than the smallest hand, 235, beating a straight flush.

After playing for over an hour, Daniel had lost over 3,000 dollar, plus the 2,000-plus from before, totaling a loss of a full 6,000 dollar for the night.

Although they were like a starved camel still bigger than a horse, it was hard to accept being so consistently unlucky.

Fatty had won the most, and the others had barely made any money. At that moment, Nancy finished counting the money and said with a tone of lingering fear, ”Thank goodness, thank goodness, we still won two hundred dollars.”

”Haha, itʼs okay as long as we didnʼt lose!”

Luis also laughed along.

This made Daniel feel even worse. It was as if he was the only one contributing to the whole table, and yet he, the host for the day, was being cleaned out. He was extremely frustrated.

Fatty packed up his things and said, ”I should go to sleep; I have to work tomorrow. Iʼll give you a chance to get even next time.”

The others also decided to quit while they were ahead. Only one guy, who had won over a thousand, seemed reluctant and said, ”Now if we want to keep playing, thereʼs no one around.”

”Simple, letʼs go play at the village entrance and stay up all night.”

Daniel stuffed the remaining few thousand into his pocket, glanced at Luis with a hint of resentment, and asked, ”What about you? Do you dare to go?”

”No, no, I guess Iʼm just not meant to win money today. How about another day?”

Daniel snorted, ignored his parentsʼ calls, and walked away. His aggressive demeanor truly marked him as a seasoned gambler. At that moment, his only thought was to find someone else to recoup his losses, and he couldnʼt be bothered to deal with Luis.

Darlanʼs card game had long since ended, and the mahjong game had also just finished.

When Luis returned, Darlan, and his father-in-law Arthur had already prepared a midnight snack.

The hostess, Hela, said she felt dizzy and went to rest. Her sister, Chloe, had brought her children along. Although there were guest rooms, they werenʼt fully prepared, so after finishing their meal earlier, she had driven back home.

”Second son-in-law, second daughter-in-law, come have a drink.”

Darlan, with a rosy complexion, greeted them warmly. Luis and Nancy were also hungry, so they picked up bowls and chopsticks and sat down.

Luis sat down next to his mother-in-law. Ruth immediately brought over a bowl of chili sauce, laughing heartily, ”Son-in-law, try this. I had a bite, and it was especially fragrant. Itʼll definitely suit your taste.”

”Itʼs good!”

Luis dipped his chopsticks in and tasted it. The spicy and fragrant flavor was excellent.

Darlan immediately laughed and said, ”Fragrant, right? This familyʼs homemade chili sauce is a specialty. If you like it, eat more. Come on, everyone, dig in. Weʼre all family now, so relax.”

Nancy said jealously, ”Mom, you didnʼt get any for me, but you got it for him. Whoʼs your real child, anyway?”

”Oh dear, are you picking a fight with me? Looks like you havenʼt been disciplined in a while and your skin is itching!”

Ruth gave her a direct glare.

The main feast was heavy with meat and fish, so no one wanted anything too greasy for the midnight snack. Darlan, an old drinker, was very particular and had good taste when it came to food.

There wasnʼt much leftover from the evening; according to local customs, it was given to the village cooks to take back, which was considered proper etiquette. In many other places, the hosts often kept the leftovers.

The townʼs nightlife was also quite vibrant. Darlan had a small restaurant at the village entrance prepare a table of stir-fried dishes, all prepared in advance.

”This is wild herb and mountain flower, both are local wild vegetables. You basically canʼt find them in the city. Stir-fried with cured meat, itʼs absolutely amazing.”

”These river shrimp are all wild, small ones. Deep-fried in oil, theyʼre incredibly sweet.”

”Dear in-laws, try this one. I specifically asked them to get this local pork. Stir-fried casually with chili peppers, itʼs incredibly fragrant.”

The table was full of small stir-fried dishes. Not to mention the others, even the scrambled eggs with chives, made with free-range eggs, had a lingering aroma that was truly memorable.

The soup was aged duck stewed with winter melon, which was also especially fresh and sweet. It was clear that Darlan placed great importance on this meal; after all, the gold bar worth 200,000 dollars that day had given him a special sense of pride.

Luis had done it mainly to get more money from his sister-in-law, not really to suck up to him or anything. Darlan was also sensible enough to hand the gold bar over to his daughter-in-law, Nancy, for safekeeping.

With the stir-fries and drinks, everyone was actually a bit tired after a busy day.

Halfway through the meal, Nancy took her mother upstairs to arrange the rooms and take a shower first.

The four men ate and drank until after one in the morning, each having had more than half a pound of foreign liquor. With bleary eyes, they finally went to their respective rooms to sleep.

The two master bedrooms on the second floor were prepared for David and his wife, while the other one was for the in-laws for the night. Luis was arranged to stay in one of the guest rooms on the third floor.

However, his mother-in-lawʼs room was already locked. As a long-separated couple, they couldnʼt possibly sleep together.

Nancy seemed to have known about her motherʼs intention, so she took Arthur to a guest room on the third floor to settle in.

Luis was also quite tipsy, so he didnʼt feel like making any moves that night and simply slept soundly. The next day at noon, the family drove off, leaving first.

That weekend, his wife Lily and Yana went to the provincial capital together. As soon as his mother-in-law returned home, she headed straight to the teahouse. Luis took a good rest at home and continued teasing his sister-in-law.

The girlʼs jealousy had already subsided a lot. That Saturday, she still wanted to go spend the night at Averyʼs place.
