Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 980: The Event Ends

Overlord Sunlight finished her investigation and made a report via Headquarters Oneʼs Formation Arrays. Then, she turned to Manny.

”The investigation has concluded,” she transmitted to everyone. ”You may return to your duties.”

Relief washed over the group, but at the same time, a feeling of uncertainty rose. They were still part of Humanity, but their loyalties had slightly shifted. They believed in the group from the Supreme World, but they also believed in Humanity. The only thing the people hoped for was that their two loyalties wouldnʼt clash in the future.

Reluctantly, the group dispersed. Overlord Cloudhorn had given them his last orders, and they intended to follow them. The orders had been pretty simple.

Support the six Sages and fight for Humanity.

Almost everyone dispersed, leaving the six Sages, Overlord Sunlight, the group that had arrived with the investigation, and Senior Protector Blooddrought.

”Do you intend to remain here?” Overlord Sunlight asked Blooddrought.

”For now, yes,” Blooddrought answered.

Overlord Sunlight looked at the investigation group. ”You may return to your duties as well.”

The group looked at Overlord Sunlight with worry. If they left, Overlord Sunlight would be helpless in front of Blooddrought. This entire thing still seemed a bit sketchy to them.
Yet, in the end, they followed Overlord Sunlightʼs orders and dispersed.

Now, only eight people were left.

”Do you wish to continue our conversation?” Manny asked Overlord Sunlight.

Overlord Sunlight looked at Manny. Overlord Riverly had told her that she had seen what Overlord Stygian had most likely believed in. Most likely, the Sage in front of her, Manny, was the reason.

”I am willing to listen to your words, but I canʼt promise anything,” Overlord Sunlight transmitted. ”My loyalties lie with Humanity, and I wonʼt make any oaths that might compromise my loyalties.”

”Thatʼs fine,” Manny transmitted. ”Depending on how you define your loyalty, it might not need to change. We are all fighting against the Demons, and we all want to repair Ayuvar. As long as your heart lies with Ayuvarʼs people, there will be no conflict.”

A moment later, Manny and Overlord Sunlight entered a lengthy conversation.

In the end, Overlord Sunlight swore a couple of oaths. She was still free to talk about whatever she had learned, but she could only share the specific details with other members of the group. Yet, she was still allowed to share her honest opinions with outsiders. If she believed that the group was a danger, she could tell everyone.

After the oaths were sworn, Manny shared a rough summary of the things that had transpired today.

Finally, it became clear to her what Overlord Stygian had believed in, and she looked at Kyle.

A possibility!

A feasible plan!

They actually had a feasible plan to get rid of the Overseer!

Due to the locked Fragments of the Primordial Force Laws, nobody could comprehend them in full. At the same time, Level Six and Level Seven Law Wells were completely inaccessible to Humanity since these Law Wells were defended by unbeatable Ascendant Demons. This made it impossible for any Ascendant to fulfill the requirements to become an Immortal.

The absolute best-case scenario for Humanity was to somehow give an Ascendant the opportunity to comprehend three Level Six Laws. They wouldnʼt even know how they could do something like that, but that was why it was the absolute best-case scenario.

Even with three Level Six Laws, the chosen Ascendant would never manage to create a Level Eight Law. It was simply impossible. Yet, if they had access to a similarly domineering Imposing Law as Kyle, it would be possible. The strength of Kyleʼs Law of Hammer was the only reason this plan was possible.

However, they had to get there first. Kyle was still weak, and he needed opportunities and resources. Without Humanityʼs help, he wouldnʼt be able to achieve his full potential.

Overlord Sunlight decided to support the group, but she wouldnʼt do so if it posed a danger to Humanity. In the end, she decided to become Mannyʼs representative. As a mere Lieutenant General, Manny didnʼt have enough authority, but with Overlord Sunlight representing him, things would become much easier.

Manny even created a relay of Overlord Sunlight, but the relay would not be connected to the existing network. She would only be able to communicate with Manny. There were also additional restrictions. For example, if the relay ever left the Soul Space, it would detonate. The same thing would happen if Overlord Sunlight decided to look at it a little too closely.

In the future, if Manny needed anything from a member of their group, he could tell Overlord Sunlight, who would forward the command or message.

After a lot of talking, Overlord Sunlight left with Senior Protector Blooddrought. The two of them returned to their regular duties.

As Overlord Sunlight left, she knew that things would become troublesome in the future.

The report of her investigation had not made the rounds yet, but when it did, things would escalate again. The results of her investigation were almost non-existent. It looked like a half-hearted attempt to cover everything up.

She could imagine all the meetings and investigations launched because of her investigation.

Sure enough, it didnʼt take long for the fallout to occur.

Several Overlords reached out to her, questioning her about the investigation.

When they didnʼt get anything, they voted to start an investigation into Overlord Sunlight herself.

The vote passed, but there was a catch. Anyone who wanted to investigate Overlord Sunlight had to have a personal conversation with either Overlord Riverly or Overlord Harkin.

Overlord Harkin was the only other Two-Infused Ascendant of Humanity. When the first vote on the investigation was held, both Overlord Harkin and Overlord Riverly voted no. With both of Humanityʼs pillars voting no, the vote didnʼt pass, as most of the other Overlords followed their votes.

However, it was more than clear that most Overlords wouldnʼt be happy with this, which was why Overlord Riverly had initiated a second vote, but with the added clause. This vote passed without any issues, and an investigation into Overlord Sunlight was launched.

Ten Overlords were chosen to participate, and all of them went to talk to Overlord Harkin first.

After the conversation, two Overlords decided to drop the matter, while the other eight continued.

Overlord Sunlight was interrogated many times, but the investigators didnʼt receive much new information. Blooddrought and other members of the group were also interrogated, but they got even less information from them.

In the end, the investigators were put in front of a difficult choice. Overlord Sunlightʼs refusal to share information could only be considered a shift in loyalties or even a protest. Yet, the investigators also didnʼt feel comfortable declaring her a traitor. She didnʼt seem like a traitor, and she still swore that her loyalties were with Humanity.

Sadly, gut feeling wouldnʼt be enough for these kinds of things. There was not enough evidence to immediately make a default judgment on Overlord Sunlight, but there was enough to put it to a vote.

Overlord Sunlightʼs fate was put to a vote.

Overlord Riverly voted her innocent.

Overlord Harkin abstained from voting.

In the end, the vote was dismissed. Too many people had abstained. Humanity had a rule that voting participation had to be at 66% or more, but over half of the Overlords had abstained. In truth, most Overlords were not sure about what they should vote for. This situation was too strange, and they didnʼt have enough information.

For now, the vote would be put on hold. In the future, everyone would vote again.

Overlord Sunlight got to live another day.

Sadly, this bit of good news was barely relevant as Kyleʼs team focused on something much more important.

Something huge had happened, and there were bound to be spies amongst the Overlords. This bit of news was bound to reach the Demons, and there was a high chance that they would treat this event as exceptionally important.

There was a good chance that they might believe that this event was big enough to inform the Overseer.

Right now, Kyleʼs team was trying to find a way to avoid the Overseerʼs senses in case they took a look at the world.
