Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 434: 434 Chairman, are you all right?

”Actually, his falling into a coma is not as simple as it seems. If I’m not mistaken, when he first arrived, he was still conscious, right?”

Yun Xiao’s expression suddenly became somewhat bizarre, but he still spoke up. As these words were uttered, Zhang Quan looked up, his eyes full of astonishment.

”You can even tell that?”

To be honest, Zhang Quan was truly startled. Not only was the medical skill of the youngster in front of him exceptional, but his observational prowess was also astoundingly sharp. Indeed, when the patient first came to the Meridian Refining Master Guild for treatment, he had arrived on his own and was quite lucid.

”Alas, it’s not that I want to criticize you all, but the reason he fell into a coma is because you...used the wrong method!”

At this moment, Yun Xiao seemed to revert to the Long Xiao Battle God of the Nine Dragons heights, or perhaps that High-level Saint Rank, Peak Meridian Refining Grandmaster. His tone contained a hint of frustration born of high expectations unmet.

”Please enlighten us!”

Perhaps it was Yun Xiao’s sudden authoritative presence that subdued him, or perhaps he felt slightly embarrassed by those words, Zhang Quan began to earnestly ask for advice.

It’s worth mentioning that after Yun Xiao’s head-shaking words were spoken, the green-robed elder, who had been keeping his eyes closed on the other side, also opened his eyes to glance at him. But in the next moment, he closed them again.

”This person cultivated overpowering Fire Attribute Meridian Techniques, injuring his Yin Meridian—that much, I assume, you could discern, right?”

Yun Xiao pointed again at the patient on the wooden platform. Upon seeing Zhang Quan nodding, he sighed and continued, ”It’s good to discern the cause of the illness, but the mistake lies in using Ice Cold Attribute power to suppress the Fire Attribute energy, which will only have the opposite effect.”

”Using cold to control heat, what’s wrong with that?”

Zhang Quan’s face showed some confusion, and when he thought about the person who had employed this method originally, a trace of perplexity flashed through the depths of his eyes, silently musing that that person’s approach had never failed before.

”It’s not just wrong, it’s a huge mistake, completely backwards!”

As an image flashed through Zhang Quan’s mind, Yun Xiao’s voice already rose again, this time sparing no feelings, speaking true to his heart.

”The Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian, by nature, is Yin. Confronted with the Fire Attribute energy, it naturally causes repulsion; at this time, from the Lung Meridian to the lungs, all are Yin in nature. Then using Ice Cold Attribute to suppress it, isn’t that adding Yin on top of Yin?”

Yun Xiao spoke confidently, and went on to say: ”You only thought of using Ice Cold power to suppress the Fire Attribute energy, but you didn’t realize that this would severely injure the already damaged Lung Meridian and lungs, which is the true cause of his coma!”

”This...”

Zhang Quan initially wanted to defend the method as it was employed by that particular individual, but after hearing Yun Xiao’s argument, he suddenly found himself persuaded.

In fact, this is a very simple principle. The Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian is Yin, something every Meridian Refining Master knows. However, after the patient was eroded by Fire Attribute, they subconsciously thought to suppress it with Cold Attribute, not realizing that by doing so, they directly caused the person to fall into an unrousable coma.

If the initial patient who came here seeking treatment for his injuries was only affected in his hands and it was not a serious problem, then after their treatment, it was like adding fuel to the fire, possibly leading to a fatal outcome.

The possibility made Zhang Quan’s face turn alternately pale and red, his expression strained. It was the first time he had begun to doubt the capabilities and philosophy of that person, as perhaps no one is infallible.

What neither Zhang Quan nor Yun Xiao knew was that while they discussed the patient’s condition, in a room next door, the faces of three individuals also turned various shades, as vivid as if they had been dyed, exceedingly expressive.

...

”Chairman, are you alright?”

Liang Song and Li Yang both glanced cryptically at the elder ahead, but ultimately, it was Liang Song who was bolder in asking the question, the implication clear without being stated.

Since it was these two who had presented the patient, they were naturally aware of the patient’s condition and knew that after Zhang Quan was at a loss, it was the Chairman who had personally stepped in.

Previously, they always thought that any disease treated by the Chairman could be cured for sure. Although the patient fell into a coma, they considered it a normal situation.

Now that Yun Xiao was speaking confidently over there if what he said was true, wouldn’t it mean that the Chairman’s previous method was not only ineffective but also greatly backfired?

”Ah ha, what could possibly be wrong with me? That kid is talking nonsense; you don’t take him seriously, do you?”

Hearing Liang Song’s words, the Chairman turned his head and laughed, outright denying it, and such an attitude made Liang Li, who was well-acquainted with the Chairman, even more certain of what they suspected.

”This kid, so young yet so unrelenting with his words. Couldn’t he have spoken quietly when no one was around?”

The Chairman’s muttering reach Liang Song and Li Yang, making both stagger, their hearts surging with shock. It turned out that what Yun Xiao said was indeed true.

Despite the Chairman’s denial just now, he was not someone who would deny his own mistakes; that muttering seemed to indicate a certain affirmation. That logically meant that Yun Xiao’s skills might even surpass the Chairman’s?

At the thought of this terrifying possibility, Liang and Li seemed to feel that they were witnessing the birth of a miracle. After all, the youngster next door was only sixteen or seventeen years old.

”This lad has good techniques and insights, perhaps we can let him see that person...”

The Chairman murmured to himself, a comment which Li Yang and Liang Song did not catch, as they were both engrossed in the astonishing fact before them and could not extricate themselves from it.

....

Inside the assessment room, Yun Xiao had no idea that his unwitting words had already ”offended” a certain big shot. After explaining himself, he stretched out his hand.

”Mr. Zhang, does this mean I’ve passed the assessment?”

Yun Xiao extended his right hand. The words he spoke brought Zhang Quan back to his senses. Immediately, Zhang Quan took a black badge out of his Waist Storage, engraved Yun Xiao’s name and a black crescent moon on it, and handed it over.

”Now, you are a true Spiritual Rank Low-Level Meridian Refining Master!”

As Zhang Quan said this, looking at the youth in front of him, for some reason he felt somewhat faint-hearted, as if he, a Spiritual Rank Intermediate Meridian Refining Master, seemed unable to hold his head high in front of this youngster.

”It seems... it’s been less than half an hour!”

Yun Xiao took the badge with satisfaction, kept it safely, and then murmured to himself before turning his gaze to the left side of the assessment room. There sat an elder in a green robe, still with both eyes tightly closed.

”Excuse me, is that where the Spiritual Rank Low-Level Poison Vein Master assessment is conducted?”

Seeing that the green-robed elder still did not open his eyes, Yun Xiao directly asked Zhang Quan, although he already had some suspicions in his heart.

”Correct, it’s just that no one has been over there for a month!”

Zhang Quan nodded, and for a moment did not realize the implication behind Yun Xiao’s question but simply stated the fact. This indirectly explained why the elder kept his eyes closed; it was pointless to open them.

”Hm!”

Having received the answer he wanted in his heart, Yun Xiao nodded slightly and then walked directly towards the left. This scene made Zhang Quan frown slightly.

”That fellow is not an easy one to deal with!”

Having assessed candidates alongside the green-robed elder for many years, Zhang Quan naturally knew of the man’s temperament. At this moment, he did not think that Yun Xiao was there to assess for the Spiritual Rank Low-Level Poison Vein Master. Instead, he assumed the youth was merely curious and wanted to take a closer look.

”Young man, since you’ve passed the Medical Pulse Master’s assessment, please leave quickly. There’s nothing here worth seeing!”

Just as Yun Xiao took several steps forward, the green-robed elder spoke out with a cold voice without opening his eyes. Then as if warning, he added, ”Everything here contains deadly poison, don’t blame me for not warning you!”

The green-robed elder’s words were not wrong; the materials for assessing a Poison Vein Master, whether it be herbs or a Medicine Tripod, likely contained more or less deadly poison. An ordinary cultivator would die or get injured by just touching them.

Yet Yun Xiao seemed not to have heard the green-robed elder at all and continued to walk directly to a few feet in front of the elder before he gracefully asked, ”I would like to assess for the Spiritual Rank Low-Level Poison Vein Master. Could you tell me how the assessment is conducted?”

”Hm?”

As soon as these words came out, not only was Zhang Quan on the other side stupefied, but the green-robed elder who had been keeping his eyes shut suddenly opened them, and a clear moss-green light flickered in the depths of his eyes.

The reason for Zhang Quan’s shock was that Yun Xiao had just gone through the Medical Pulse Master assessment. With his healing skills and insights that were even superior to Zhang’s, it was clear that he was an extraordinary talent destined to become a Medical Pulse Master.

Yet in a blink of an eye, Yun Xiao went over to the Poison Vein Master’s assessment area and said he wanted to assess for the Spiritual Rank Low-Level Poison Vein Master, which was quite bewildering.

”You want to assess for Spiritual Rank Low-Level Poison Vein Master?”

The green-robed elder opened his eyes and stared at Yun Xiao for a long time, asking a somewhat cryptic question, as if he hadn’t heard Yun Xiao clearly before.

”Yes, this is my Mortal Rank Advanced Poison Vein Master badge!”

Yun Xiao didn’t mind and opened his left hand, revealing a green badge with three conspicuous green stars, indicating that he indeed had the qualifications to undergo the Spiritual Rank Low-Level Poison Vein Master assessment.

Upon seeing the badge, Zhang Quan and the green-robed elder had no doubts that the young man was not joking; he truly intended to take the Spiritual Rank Low-Level Poison Vein Master assessment.

What none of the three people in the room knew, however, was that in the next room, an elder whose eyes were shining with excitement was becoming increasingly intense, and he kept voicing out.

”Heh heh, things are getting more and more interesting!”
