Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Back then, under the leadership of a certain powerhouse, Yu Qian was assigned by Xu Lingsong to go to the Shang Family to carry out a massacre, and regarding that event, he had long since buried it deep in his heart and was unwilling to mention it again.

After the Shang Family was annihilated, only Yun Xiao managed to infiltrate the Shang Family Snake Nest. Because at that time, they were controlled by the larvae of the Golden Snake Worm and they had no Meridian Refining Master among them, they failed to capture Yun Xiao immediately.

Later on, they found a High-rank Meridian Refining Master and when they returned to the Shang Family, Yun Xiao had been taken away by a Talisman Poison Master from the Jade Pot Sect. Hence, Yu Qian and the others unanimously believed that Yun Xiao had perished in the fangs of the snakes.

Therefore, although the rough-clothed youth in front of him looked vaguely familiar, Yu Qian did not associate him with Yun Xiao. What he failed to see was that the complexion of the Sect Leader beside him was growing increasingly grim.

”Who am I? Hehe, does Great Elder Yu Qian still remember Yun Xiao from the Shang Family of Moon Bow City?”

At this moment, Yun Xiao had no intention of hiding his true identity in order to reveal the truth. Though a laugh came from his mouth, his face was extremely cold, without a trace of mirth.

”Yun Xiao, you’re Yun Xiao? You... you actually didn’t die?”

Suddenly hearing this name that had been hidden deep in his heart, even as a powerhouse at the Peak of the Spirit Vein Realm, Yu Qian’s face changed drastically in an instant, as if he had seen a ghost.

Back then, Yu Qian had personally witnessed the deadly snakes in the Shang Family Snake Nest. In such a situation, even he did not dare to easily enter the Snake Nest. How could Yun Xiao, who was only at the Meridian Introduction Realm at that time, have survived entering it?

From the face of Yun Xiao before him, traces of his past self could still be discerned. So even though Yu Qian was shocked, he quickly accepted this reality.

”What? Seeing that I’m not dead, is Great Elder Yu Qian very disappointed?”

Yun Xiao’s face showed a cold smile, and his gaze then shifted to the Sect Leader of Lingyun Sect, asking: ”I wonder if Sect Master Xu knew anything about that event back then? Or maybe... are you the real mastermind behind the scenes?”

This abrupt accusation left several people of Lingyun Sect stunned, with only Earth Rank Low Level Refining Master Ran Xing, appear unaffected by the dispute as if nothing concerned him.

”What... what the hell is going on?”

Elder Sect Master Xu Qingyuan was utterly bewildered, as he had been kept in the dark from the beginning to the end. Seeing that both sides seemed ready to fall out, he couldn’t help but finally speak up.

”Hehe, perhaps Elder Sect Master isn’t aware, it was your Lingyun Sect’s Great Elder who led people to my Moon Bow City Shang Family more than two years ago, and massacred more than a hundred of the Shang Family, leading to this annihilation. Tell me, shouldn’t I question the Great Elder about this?”

Yun Xiao turned his head and spoke candidly to Elder Sect Master Xu, who was displaying an uncertain expression. These words fell on Xu Qingyuan and Xu Hongzhuang’s ears like a thunderclap out of a clear sky, so shocking that they had trouble regaining their composure.

”This Great Elder Yu Qian, although he hid it very well, probably didn’t expect that I, Yun Xiao, could really escape from the jaws of death, did he? Your voice, even if turned into ashes, I will not forget!”

Yun Xiao harbored deep hatred for each person involved in that massacre because his mother and sister died in that event. He only knew the name ”Yu Qian”’ until today, when the tip of the iceberg of that past tragedy was finally unveiled.

”What... what did you say? The Shang Family’s annihilation was led by Yu Qian?”

Xu Qingyuan’s aged body trembled, seemingly unable to accept this fact. When his old friend’s family was destroyed, he grieved for a long time, yet he never imagined that Lingyun Sect would have any connection to this affair.

”Elder Sect Leader, I...”

Suddenly recognized and being the party involved in that event from years ago, Yu Qian felt at a loss for words. Just after he had begun to speak, he turned his head to Xu Lingsong and said with a trembling voice, ”Sect Leader, you...”

”What about you? Yu Qian, how dare you commit such a vile and ruthless act behind the Sect Leader’s back, our Lingyun Sect’s rules will not be altered simply because you are the Great Elder!”

Little did Yu Qian expect that sharp retort from Xu Lingsong to rise suddenly, leaving him in utter disbelief. After all, it was this Sect Leader who instructed him to carry out that event back then, so why the sudden denial now?

”Don’t say anything yet!”

Just as Yu Qian was feeling indignant and wanted to reveal the truth, a familiar voice suddenly echoed in his mind, also one from Xu Lingsong.

However, this second voice from Xu Lingsong was a transmission through Meridian Qi, and except for Yu Qian, no one else could hear it. This made him shudder, and he swallowed back the words he was about to say.

It seems that sitting in the position of a Great Elder of a massive sect like Lingyun, Yu Qian was only caught off guard by the sudden accusation. Once he calmed down, he also knew that saying anything at this moment would be superfluous.

Yu Qian believed that even if he himself was convicted, as long as the Sect Leader’s position remained, there would be a day when he could turn the tables.

But if even Xu Lingsong, the Sect Leader, were determined to be involved, perhaps the entire Lingyun Sect would under the proposal of the former Sect Leader choose a new Sect Leader.

By then, everything would be over. In an instant, Yu Qian understood all the matters. Currently, the only way was to clear Xu Lingsong’s name so that he might have a sliver of a chance.

”Summon the guards, take this Yu Qian who violated the sect’s rules, and escort him down!”

Before Yun Xiao could speak, Xu Lingsong had already shouted sharply, and immediately two guards with immense auras entered from outside the room and escorted Yu Qian out.

Seeing this scene, Yun Xiao couldn’t help but snicker again and again. This Sect Leader of Lingyun Sect was quite hasty, wasn’t he? In just a few words, he tried to dissociate himself from Yu Qian, and he seemed to underestimate him greatly.

Since Yu Qian was confirmed as one of the masterminds behind the Shang Family massacre, combined with Xu Lingsong’s previous statements and his performance at this moment, Yun Xiao had reason to believe that the Sect Leader of Lingyun must also be involved.

With the last thread of hope shattered, Yun Xiao turned and looked deeply at Xu Hongzhuang, sighing inwardly. He thought that with this matter, it was likely that he and she would have no chance of forming a marital alliance in this lifetime.

Yun Xiao didn’t care about the other members of the Shang Family, but this life’s mother and sister were his closest kin. Now that Yu Qian’s identity was confirmed and Xu Lingsong could not extricate himself from it, he and Lingyun Sect were bound by an irreconcilable feud of matricide and fratricide, a grudge that could only be washed away with blood.

”Lingsong, isn’t your way of handling this matter a bit inappropriate?”

Seeing how Xu Lingsong sent Yu Qian away so quickly, Xu Qingyuan couldn’t help but frown. His words made Yun Xiao believe that it might be true that the former Sect Leader did not know about the previous incident.

”Father, Yu Qian committed such an act and naturally should not be taken lightly. However, the priority now is the lady’s illness, and moreover... such a matter is not a glorious one, let’s not allow outsiders to see and laugh at us!”

Xu Lingsong had already thought of his excuse, his last two sentences spoken very softly, and his glance unintentionally swept towards Ran Xing, the Earth-rank Low Level Meridian Refining Master who had been silent all along.

Perhaps persuaded by the last two sentences, Xu Qingyuan looked apologetically at Yun Xiao, thinking that he must give Yun Xiao an explanation for the massacre after this incident was resolved.

On the other hand, the expressions on the face of Xu Hongzhuang had changed several times, especially when she saw Yun Xiao become extremely indifferent in an instant. Her heart couldn’t help but sink to the bottom.

The insightful Xu Hongzhuang had once questioned her father about the Shang Family massacre. However, Xu Lingsong at the time had flatly denied it.

Now it seemed that her father had intentionally concealed the truth. If this matter was unrelated to her father, Xu Hongzhuang would never believe it.

But now, Xu Hongzhuang was reluctant to acknowledge it. She had fallen for Yun Xiao, and if her father had indeed played a role in the Shang Family’s downfall, how could the two be together?

With the feud of matricide and fratricide being irreconcilable, even if Xu Hongzhuang had no involvement, there would always be an impassable chasm between them that could never be bridged in a lifetime.

”Mr. Ran Xing, please take action and save the lady!”

Xu Lingsong looked at Yun Xiao with an odd expression, then turned his head without paying further attention. He forced a smile on his face and spoke with unusual respect.

To be honest, Ran Xing was brought here by Yu Qian, and Xu Lingsong was actually worried that after dealing with Yu Qian, this Earth-rank Meridian Refining Master would turn and leave. Therefore, he spoke with caution.

”Hmph, I won’t bother with the trivial matters of your Lingyun Sect. As long as the promised reward is adequate, I will take action!”

It seemed that Ran Xing was not dissatisfied with the recent events, and his words were a reminder to everyone present that he had no significant relation with Yu Qian—it was all just a matter of driven interest.

”Don’t worry, Mr. Ran Xing!”

Upon hearing this, Xu Lingsong couldn’t help but be overjoyed, but he failed to notice the curious looks on the faces of the other three people in the room due to his lack of awareness of the previous events.

In fact, before Ran Xing came in, Yun Xiao had already discovered the cause of the Sect Leader’s wife’s coma and was investigating the root. Then these three people burst into the room and so much happened, which was completely unexpected.

Now that Yu Qian, the Great Elder of Lingyun Sect, had become the archenemy who had murdered Yun Xiao’s mother, even Xu Qingyuan and Xu Hongzhuang knew it would be inappropriate to ask Yun Xiao to take action again. Therefore, they remained silent.

To ask a teenager of sixteen or seventeen to save the life of the wife of the Sect that harbored the murderer of his mother was rather excessive. Thinking of this, Xu Hongzhuang couldn’t help but feel a vague heartache—how did things suddenly come to this?
