Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 331: 331 Your eyesight isn’t too good, huh!

Xuanyue Palace, Moon Embracing Hall!

Looking at the myriad treasures gifted by the leaders of various sects, the King of Xuanyue, Xuan Haoran, forced a smile, but his heart was constantly filled with worry for his second son, Xuan Jing’s illness. How could he possibly be happy?

Given the situation, how could the attentive sect leaders not notice? They only raised their cups symbolically, before attending to their own affairs.

On the other hand, Crown Prince Xuan Jiuding was ceaselessly toasting with the major sect leaders. This future world would be his, and building good relations with these powerful sects and families of the empire was also one of his tasks.

With Xuan Jiuding livening up the atmosphere, the Moon Embracing Hall was not at all quiet, yet unseen by all was the Crown Prince, whose gaze frequently darted towards the hall’s entrance as if waiting for something.

Tap tap tap...

At a certain moment, a series of urgent footsteps came from the entrance of the hall, followed by the appearance of a guard who rushed in and knelt down to salute the King of Xuanyue sitting at the head seat.

”What’s the matter? What propriety is there in rushing in such panic?”

Seeing that everyone’s attention had been drawn, Xuan Jiuding’s eyes, which held a trace of joy, now flashed with anger as he loudly chastised.

”Your Majesty, Crown Prince, someone... someone has broken into the Treasure Vault!”

The guard, scolded by Xuan Jiuding, was at a loss for words, but finally managed to report the incident in fragments. On hearing this, the Crown Prince’s eyes gleamed with joy once more, yet his facial expression remained composed.

”In the Imperial Palace, we naturally have the Xuantie Army on guard. For such a trivial matter, was there a need to rush and report with such panic?”

A bright light flashed in Xuan Jiuding’s eyes. He glanced at his father, the King, sitting at the head and, turning his head back, his voice once again burst out with a rebuke.

”Crown Prince, that Treasure Thief... he... he is...”

The guard seemed to struggle with his words, or perhaps had some reservations. His halting speech was even more unclear than before, causing speculation among the onlookers and even King Xuan Haoran’s face revealed a hint of surprise.

”No matter who he is, daring to break into our Royal Treasure Vault to steal is a capital offense!”

The authority of the King of Xuanyue erupted, sending a chill through everyone present, while Crown Prince Xuan Jiuding showed a fleeting look of smug satisfaction as if a plot had come to fruition.

However, as Xuan Haoran had said, within the Xuanyue Empire, there were actually people daring enough to enter the Royal Treasure Vault to steal treasures. Weren’t they asking for trouble?

”Tell us, who is this audacious Treasure Thief?”

Xuan Jiuding didn’t have the patience of others; his sole purpose was to solidify the guilt of the Treasure Thief to carry out his next plan.

Spurred on by Xuan Jiuding’s shout, the guard jolted and dared not hold back any longer, his gaze stealing a glance in a certain direction before he finally said, ”It... it’s Yun Xiao of Jade Pot Sect!”

”What?”

Upon the guard’s revelation, everyone was shocked, and Yu Shu, the Sect Master of the Jade Pot Sect, leaped up from his seat. In an instant, he was in front of the guard.

”Impossible, Yun Xiao would never do such a thing!”

In his urgency, Yu Shu completely neglected his own conduct. Reaching out, he grabbed the guard’s shoulder, and with a crack, unintentionally broke the guard’s shoulder bone.

The guard was at most at the same Meridian Rushing Realm Late Stage as Yun Xiao, but he didn’t possess Yun Xiao’s techniques or physical strength, so his fate was much more tragic than when Yun Xiao was captured by Jia Yi, the Sect Master of Luoyi Sect.

”Sect Master Yu Shu, even if Yun Xiao is your disciple, there was no need to break the bones of our Royal Guard. Wasn’t that a bit too much?”

Xuan Jiuding was not at all concerned about the guard’s pain-stricken expression but used the incident to score a point against Yu Shu, causing the latter to release the guard in alarm.

However, this made not only Xuan Jiuding but also the King, Xuan Haoran, show concern. After all, this was Xuanyue Palace, and Yu Shu’s actions were truly disrespectful to the Xuanyue Imperial Family.

Setting aside sect leaders like Jia Yi who were on good terms with Yu Shu, disciples of Qingshan Sect like Li Feng had a schadenfreude attitude. They also believed that the guard wouldn’t fabricate lies; it seemed that Yun Xiao truly had done something irrevocable unbeknownst to others.

Yu Shu was someone who could take responsibility for his actions. He paid no mind to the reactions of the onlookers and turned his head towards Xuan Haoran, bowing and saying, ”I apologize, Your Majesty. I was hasty and lost control of my strength. Please forgive me.”

Having been the King of Xuanyue for nearly two hundred years, Xuan Haoran’s thoughts ran deep. He wouldn’t really fall out with the Sect Leader of the Jade Pot Sect, who wasn’t that much lesser in status, over a minor guard.

”Sect Master Yu Shu, that Yun Xiao must be the disciple you’ve newly taken under your wing. I must say, your discernment seems lacking!”

It seemed that Xuan Haoran already had an earful about the unprecedented recruitment of a Direct Disciple by Jade Pot Sect’s Sect Master, but from the undertone of his words, he clearly believed what the guard had just claimed, taking Yun Xiao for a treasure thief with opportunistic motives.

And with Xuan Jing lying unconscious, Xuan Haoran’s mood was initially sour. On the occasion of his own birthday celebration, Yun Xiao had stirred up such a ruckus—was this an attempt to slap him, the ruler of Xuanyue Country, in the face?

”Your Majesty, the situation is absolutely not as it seems. I trust my disciple; Yun Xiao could never do such a thing!”

As a Sect Master, Yu Shu, even when facing the ruler of Xuanyue Country, did not exhibit the same cautiousness as the other sect leaders. The matter concerned Yun Xiao’s reputation and even life and death, he had to reason forcefully.

”Heh, Sect Master Yu Shu, so your disciple is upright in his actions, and all the guards of Xuanyue Palace are just spewing nonsense?”

Before Xuan Haoran could speak, Xuan Jiuding on the side had already sneered forth his comment. It seemed that because Yun Xiao had shown him disrespect, his anger had extended to the Sect Master of Jade Pot Sect as well.

Hearing the Crown Prince mentioning him, the guard with the broken shoulder, enduring the intense pain, added: ”Your Majesty, Crown Prince, Yun Xiao was caught red-handed by Commander Yan Yong and Captain Yan while stealing from the Treasure Vault. There is absolutely no mistake in this matter!”

Considering the guard’s shoulder had been crushed by Yu Shu, he was filled with resentment. Why would he not take the opportunity to kick someone when they’re down? Moreover, what he stated were facts, leaving no room for Yu Shu to refute.

”Damn it!”

Upon hearing this, Yu Shu suddenly had an epiphany, aware that he and his disciple had probably fallen into someone else’s trap. Yun Xiao had just been invited by the guards under the Second Prince Xuan Jing; how could he instantly become a treasure thief?

However, at this moment, Yu Shu understood that no matter what he said, Xuan Jiuding probably had responses ready for him. Besides, he had even more pressing matters to attend to.

Swoosh!

Seeing Yu Shu leave without uttering another word, leaping out of the Moon Embracing Hall’s entrance with astonishing speed, it was clear that he was worried about Yun Xiao’s safety and could not bother with anything else.

When he first entered Baiyue City, Yu Shu had met Yan Yong. If Yun Xiao were to face a Spirit Vein Realm powerhouse, the outcome would not need further contemplation.

”If that’s the case, let us all go have a look!”

As Yu Shu’s figure disappeared from the entrance of Moon Embracing Hall, King Xuan Haoran of Xuanyue Country maintained composure but had also vanished in the blink of an eye before the hall’s entrance, with a speed that was staggering.

”Tsk tsk, this Sect Leader is also curious to find out, where does that thief who dared to steal the Royal Treasure find such audacity!”

Qingshan Sect’s Sect Leader Li Feng was not slow either. As he darted out, his voice was unmistakably laced with mockery. But with Yu Shu out of sight, his sarcasm did not draw much attention.

In a moment’s time, aside from Crown Prince Xuan Jiuding, Moon Embracing Hall was devoid of anyone else. Only when everyone had disappeared from the entrance did a smug smile creep across his face.

”Yun Xiao, this is the consequence of your insolence!”

After a chuckle escaped from Xuan Jiuding’s mouth, he too swiftly exited the grand hall. However, in his heart, he doubted he would see a living Yun Xiao again.

A Yan Yong of the Spirit Vein Realm, a Yan Shi in the Late Stage of Meridian Union Realm—if they couldn’t handle a Yun Xiao in the Meridian Rushing Realm Late Stage, they had no reason to remain in the Xuantie Army.

...

At the Royal Treasure Vault!

Whoosh...

A powerful Meridian Qi Fist whizzed past Yun Xiao’s neck; this was already the third strike he had dodged from Yan Shi. Such reflexes and speed painted a shade of surprise in Yan Yong’s eyes full of surprise as he fought nearby in the Spirit Vein Realm.

But the stronger Yun Xiao’s talent appeared, the stronger Yan Yong’s intent to kill grew. Such monstrous talents, if allowed to grow, would become a significant threat, not only to himself but perhaps even to the Crown Prince.

”Little brother, don’t hold back any longer!”

With this in mind, Yan Yong suddenly let out a loud shout. The abilities that Yun Xiao displayed sparked a surge of urgency in him, worried that delaying might lead to complications, although the likelihood seemed negligible.

Prompted by his elder brother’s shout, Yan Shi’s body jolted, overcome by the recollection of certain items within the Meridian Treasure. Without hesitation, meridian energy burst forth, enveloping Yun Xiao completely.

Seeing this, Yan Yong and the Royal Guards watching from afar all heaved a sigh of relief, thinking to themselves that the young man with the tricky moves was now surely unable to escape.
