Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 295: 295 Fu Du’s Meridian Spirit

”Second Elder, wait a moment!”

As Lu Zhan escorted Fu Du into the room, he saw that the Second Elder was about to make his move, his heart suddenly stirred, and he stepped forward, positioning himself in front of Li Shan’s bed.

”Before you investigate, let me ask you one thing. The severe poison that Elder Li Shan suffered from, does it... or should I say, does it have anything to do with you or your group?”

It seemed that although Lu Zhan had rebuked someone’s conjecture that day, he hadn’t completely let go of his concerns. Even though they were all from the same Jade Pot Sect, the thoughts of these Poison Vein Masters were hard to guess, and one couldn’t be sure they wouldn’t resort to desperate measures for certain things.

”Great Elder, if you don’t trust me, why did you invite us here?”

Upon hearing this, a look of anger appeared on Fu Du’s face, but he did not answer Lu Zhan’s question. It seemed that in his heart, he thought the question was not even worth answering.

”Great Elder, our medical and poison factions may indeed have conflicting ideologies, but we would never go so far as to poison a Sect Elder. Under a toppled nest, can there be any unbroken eggs? What good would it do us?”

The face of the Third Elder, Mo Li, also darkened somewhat, but he did provide an explanation. After these words, Lu Zhan finally stepped aside, letting go of his doubts.

Lu Zhan never truly believed these individuals would be so reckless as to harm a Sect Elder, and now, seeing their expressions didn’t seem feigned, he was relieved.

Fu Du didn’t say anything. In fact, he was indeed colluding with Xuan Zhi, but he never had the thought of harming a Sect Elder. He only wanted to transfer Li Shan away from Jade Pot Cave to facilitate Xuan Zhi’s plans.

Little did he know that a perfect opportunity had indeed led to Li Shan losing his position as the guardian of Jade Pot Cave, but he was then appointed by the Sect Leader as the guardian of the ninth level of Jade Pot Cave, making it not so easy for Fu Du to enter the ninth level.

And just at this time, out of nowhere, Li Shan was struck down by a strange severe poison, which forced Fu Du to suspect that someone from the Royal Family was behind it.

However, Fu Du knew that with Xuan Zhi’s cultivation not even breaking through the Meridian Rushing Realm, it was simply impossible for him to do anything against someone as powerful as Li Shan in the Spirit Vein Realm. There must be something else hidden beneath the surface.

With these odd thoughts in mind, Fu Du did not resort to any tricks. When he placed his fingertips on Li Shan’s wrist, he immediately sensed a fiery force erupting out, almost shaking his fingers apart.

Fu Du was not only a Spirit Vein Realm expert, but also a genuine Spiritual Rank Intermediate Meridian Refining Master. The fact that this fiery power almost made him lose his grip indicated its tremendous strength.

”Hmph!”

Feeling the heat in his hand, Fu Du let out a cold snort. In the next moment, the nearby great elders all sensed from his right hand an extreme Ice Cold Attribute.

”What... what is this?”

The elders, sensing the chilling cold, suddenly saw from Fu Du’s fingertips a strange shadow emerge—an exquisite and transparent Three-legged Toad, which looked very sinister.

”Could this be the old man’s newly refined Meridian Spirit? But why is its Ice Attribute so intense?”

Great Elder Lu Zhan was also shocked. He was well-versed and recognized it as Fu Du’s Meridian Spirit at a glance, though he didn’t understand the details of this spirit.

It seemed that Fu Du felt the astonished gaze of those around him and was somewhat proud. This was the first time he had shown his newly refined Meridian Spirit in front of others and seeing such a reaction was quite satisfying to him.

This exquisite and transparent Three-legged Toad was the same Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad that almost killed Yun Xiao, a creature that was rarely seen even in the Nine-layered Dragon Cloud and possessed a potent Ice Attribute Poison. Its presence amidst these cultivators of the Hidden Dragon Continent was bound to astonish.

In fact, had it not been for the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad biting Yun Xiao first, allowing him to absorb most of the Ice Cold Poison, Fu Du likely wouldn’t have been able to refine it and would have ended up a frozen statue in death.

Yun Xiao, due to the poison of the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad, activated an Ice Cold Attribute Ancestor Vein; Fu Du, because of this Ice Toad, refined a unique Meridian Spirit in the Hidden Dragon Continent, it can be said that they both received their own fortunes.

Since the poison affecting Li Shan was of the extreme Fire Attribute, Fu Du’s summoning of the Ice Crystal Toad Meridian Spirit was indeed the right remedy. He believed that such extreme Ice Cold power could cure any kind of Fire Poison.

Fu Du, however, may have oversimplified the situation, or perhaps he had too much confidence in his Meridian Spirit. In any case, the outcome this time might disappoint him.

Under Fu Du’s proud demeanor, that Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad Meridian Spirit had already bitten onto Li Shan’s right hand finger, and in an instant, the entire arm was frozen solid into an Ice Arm.

Seeing this, Lu Zhan and Su He couldn’t help but show joy on their faces. Ice overcomes fire—it was obviously the right remedy. And considering the strong Ice Attribute of the Meridian Spirit, perhaps Li Shan really could be saved.

Amid the expectant gazes of the crowd, Fu Du controlled the Meridian Spirit of the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad, emitting bursts of ice-cold air, but at a certain moment, his expression suddenly changed.

Because just when the ice flowers had begun to spread to the bend of Li Shan’s forearm, they slowed down, as though encountering a formidable resistance, preventing the ice-cold attribute from continuing its work.

Originally, Fu Du wanted to use the Ice Cold Power of the Ice Crystal Toad to dissolve all the Fire Poison within Li Shan’s body, but now it couldn’t spread past his arm, which was inconsistent with his earlier prediction.

”Hmph, I refuse to believe this!”

Fu Du was not one to admit defeat. Upon hearing his cold snort, the Meridian Spirit of the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad shifted its position and bit down on Li Shan’s neck.

Of course, the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad Meridian Spirit controlled by Fu Du would not bite through Li Shan’s neck. He simply wanted to use the ice-cold attribute to dissolve the Fire Poison in Li Shan’s body.

Bang!

However, at the moment the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad bit Li Shan’s neck, a powerful force erupted from Li Shan’s throat, blasting the Meridian Spirit of the Ice Crystal Toad several meters away.

Thump thump thump!

Under everyone’s astonished gazes, the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad seemed to turn into a solid ice toad at that moment, bouncing a few times on the ground before becoming motionless.

The Spiritual Wisdom of Meridian Spirits is wiped away at the moment of their Refining. From then on, they would only obey the orders of their master. This means that the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad Meridian Spirit was under Fu Du’s control.

Of course, this was only the case on the Hidden Dragon Continent. In more advanced planes, some Meridian Spirits possess their own Spiritual Wisdom and would form a special contract with their masters, making them a unique kind of Meridian Spirit.

Yun Xiao had once seen Emperor Canglong form a special contract with a powerful Divine Dragon at the Nine-layered Dragon Cloud, complementing each other and establishing Emperor Canglong’s era of dominance.

Those Meridian Spirits with their own Spiritual Wisdom undoubtedly possess much stronger combat power than the zombie-like Meridian Spirits. However, Fu Du’s Meridian Spirit was clearly devoid of Spiritual Wisdom, and after being hit by that strange energy, it lost the ability to move, waiting for Fu Du’s control once again.

This unexpected setback undoubtedly stunned Fu Du, who never expected that merely dissolving a bit of Fire Poison would result in even his own controlled Meridian Spirit being blasted away.

Fu Du could sense very clearly that the force just now was definitely not Li Shan’s own, but originated from the Fire Poison within his body. Considering this possibility, his expression unavoidably became extremely ugly.

After being lost in thought for a while, Fu Du, feeling extremely irritable, eventually summoned a bit of Meridian Qi and retracted the Meridian Spirit of the Three-legged Ice Crystal Toad back into his body.

A Meridian Master must imbue their Meridian Spirits with Meridian Qi. The stronger the Meridian Qi Cultivation of the master, the stronger the Meridian Spirits become. However, once the imbued Meridian Qi is exhausted, the spirits no longer have any combat power and must return to their master’s body to reabsorb Meridian Qi.

”Elder Lu Zhan, what happened?”

Although the scene just now was very graphic, Lu Zhan still asked as the specifics needed to be judged by Fu Du, the person involved.

”Apologies, Great Elder, the Fire Poison within Elder Li Shan is indeed fierce, and it seems to contain a great force that resists the dissolution of all external forces. Please forgive me for being powerless!”

No matter how prideful or confident Fu Du was, he could only tell the truth at this moment. He could use the Ice Cold Power of the Ice Crystal Toad to dissolve Li Shan’s Fire Poison, but he was helpless against that foreign and formidable power.

If it were a single type of alien energy, or simply Fire Poison, Fu Du might have some means to attempt a cure. Yet, when these two significant elements combined, even Fu Du, one of the strongest Poison Vein Masters of the Xuanyue Empire, was truly at a loss.

”Is that so...”

Hearing what Fu Du said, both Lu Zhan and Su He’s expressions turned extremely despondent. They had thought that Fu Du, as a Poison Vein Master, could dissolve the poison within Li Shan, but it turned out to be futile in the end.

”It seems we can only ask the Sect Leader to have a look!”

Lu Zhan murmured, and while he spoke the words ”Sect Leader,” he did not notice a figure in the background. Yan Chun, the Poison Vein Sect’s Fifth Elder, momentarily had a mocking cold smile flash through his eyes, seemingly quite dismissive.

Since his own methods couldn’t save Li Shan, Fu Du had no face to stay any longer. However, as he turned to leave, he still gave Li Shan a deep look.

As a formidable Poison Vein Master, Fu Du was extremely interested in these bizarre and exotic poisons. If it weren’t for Elder Li Shan who was afflicted, he even wanted to bring the poison back to the Poison Vein for in-depth research.
