Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 253: 253 Yue Qi

”The kid doesn’t know the immensity of heaven and earth, I’m afraid you haven’t even taken a low-level Spiritual Rank task, have you?”

With Yun Xiao’s lukewarm words, Xue Gong exploded in anger and said fiercely, ”Do you know that the news of the emergence of the Meridian Treasure at the Spiritual Rank Intermediate level is not only concerning our Jade Pot Sect, many powerful families of the Xuanyue Empire and even strong individuals from neighboring countries may come to join in, with your cultivation level...”

As Xue Gong continued, the disdain on his face grew stronger, but what he said was true, and not even Mo Qing and Chang Qing could refute that.

Just as Xue Gong finished speaking and wanted to see Yun Xiao’s reaction, the latter simply shook his head and said, ”Sorry to disappoint you, brother Xue Gong, but when I was in the Outer Sect, I successfully completed a low-level Spiritual Rank task and earned a reward of two thousand points!”

”Oh?”

At these words, both Mo Qing and Chang Qing were stunned, while Xue Gong, the person concerned, was utterly dumbfounded, for this was not within his script at all.

Xue Gong thought he understood Yun Xiao. During the Outer Sect competition, he watched every one of Yun Xiao’s battles carefully, and even though Yun Xiao defeated Feng Hang and Shen Xiao, the kid was merely at the peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm.

With such cultivation, to have completed a low-level Spiritual Rank task with a reward of over two thousand points was incredibly unbelievable and contrary to all logic.

But since Yun Xiao stated it so confidently, Xue Gong had to believe it because every task could be verified, and if Yun Xiao was bluffing, the one to be embarrassed in the end would surely be himself.

Just with one sentence, Yun Xiao shut Xue Gong up. By stating this fact, Yun Xiao wanted that annoying person to know that even with a cultivation of only the early stage of the Meridian Rushing Realm, not necessarily he couldn’t complete a Spiritual Rank Intermediate task; reality would speak for itself.

Mo Qing, who was nearby, also learned for the first time that Yun Xiao had once completed a low-level Spiritual Rank task in the Outer Sect. This was even more icing on the cake for her. The stronger Yun Xiao was, the less dangerous it would be to bring him along this time, and her burden would be much lighter.

”Why is the Third Elder not coming out to issue the task yet?”

The speechless Xue Gong, knowing that he couldn’t say anything more to Yun Xiao before the facts, turned his gaze, becoming somewhat restless as if he was dissatisfied that the task had not yet been announced.

”Hehe, someone hasn’t arrived yet, how could that old guy Mo Li let our Medical Pulse lineage steal the limelight?”

A cold smirk appeared on Chang Qing’s face. These young talents from their Medical Pulse lineage and the Poison Vein lineage didn’t see eye to eye. Even when referring to the Third Elder, they privately called him ”old geezer.”

Moreover, Chang Qing’s teacher, the Fourth Elder, was deprived of his position of guarding the Jade Pot Cave because of this event. After coming out from the Jade Martial Institute and hearing about it, he naturally looked down on these old folks from the Poison Vein lineage even more.

”Will he... come?”

Hearing Chang Qing say this, Mo Qing’s heart moved, murmuring as her beautiful eyes turned to the hall entrance; and just as she did so, a green figure indeed appeared at that spot.

Some Inner Sect disciples who were watching Mo Qing saw her expression change slightly and turned their gaze to the entrance, and upon looking, they all gasped in shock.

”It’s brother Yue Qi, he actually came!”

A voice filled with reverence resounded, drawing everyone’s attention to the spot, and those familiar Inner Sect disciples were no strangers to that familiar green figure.

Yue Qi, the number one talent of the Medical Pulse lineage among the Inner Sect disciples of the Jade Pot Sect, ranked second on the Spiritual Chick List, was one of the most dazzling figures among the young generation of the entire sect.

To be honest, when Mo Qing entered the hall earlier, although people thought it was a bit strange, no one was particularly worried. That’s because the talents from the Medical Pulse lineage were always compassionate, and even if you accidentally offended her, she wouldn’t take it to heart.

But it was very different for the Poison Vein Masters from the Poison Vein lineage. Proficient in Poison Meridian Skills, they were narrow-minded and sinister, and not only would they seek revenge for being offended overtly, but even an inadvertent wrong word could provoke their retribution.

Moreover, Yue Qi, being the eldest brother of the Poison Vein lineage, with his mastery of Poison Meridian Skills, might even surpass some of the Stewards of the Jade Pot Sect. To carelessly offend such a character would make it impossible for one to stay in the Jade Pot Sect anymore.

The entire Task Hall was enveloped in an eerie silence due to Yue Qi’s arrival, a sinister aura quietly flowing, as though around him, innate poisonous beings isolated everyone, daring not to approach too closely.

However, this chief senior brother of the Poison Vein lineage, as soon as he entered the hall, his gaze did not fall on the Inner Sect Disciples, nor on Bi Luo, Yin Huan, Xuan Zhi, and the like. Instead, he instantly turned towards a particular direction. There, a graceful black figure was also looking at him.

”Mo Qing!”

A voice, so low it was hardly audible, emanated from Yue Qi’s mouth, and a green light flickered across the depths of his eyes. It seemed that in his heart, within the entire Jade Pot Sect, only that genius girl who had snatched the top spot on the Spiritual Chick List was his sole rival.

The once proud and confident Yue Qi was unapproachable by anyone from either the Medical Pulse or Poison Vein lineage, so much so that after being calculated against with deadly poison, even the number one talent of the Medical Pulse lineage, Xue Gong, would take a detour upon seeing him.

That changed after the Great Elder Lu Zhan took in a stunningly talented girl as his disciple. The girl who had already displayed remarkable talent in the Outer Sect resolutely chose to join the Medical Pulse lineage, and it wasn’t long before Yue Qi found himself surpassed by this new junior sister.

It was on the final decisive battle of that year’s ”Spiritual Chick Battle List” that Yue Qi and Mo Qing fought for hundreds of rounds, with Yue Qi losing to Mo Qing by just one move in the end.

That battle made Mo Qing famous; since then, she has been the most dazzling talent of the Medical Pulse lineage and even of the entire Jade Pot Sect.

Because of that battle, Yue Qi, who had always held the top spot on the Spiritual Chick List, was dethroned. Both lineages were caught off guard by the outcome of the battle, and from then on, it was as if the Poison Vein lineage fell short of the Medical Pulse lineage.

Yue Qi was not one to admit defeat easily. As Mo Qing’s talent grew stronger, he did not lag behind in the slightest. This time, after several months of seclusion in an attempt to break through to a higher level, he succeeded by a stroke of luck and was fully confident that he could reclaim the first place on the Spiritual Chick List that belonged to him.

Just like the grand competition of the Outer Sect, in the Inner Sect, there is a competition held once a year among the young disciples called the ”Spiritual Chick Battle List.”

The Spiritual Chick List only includes the ten most formidable geniuses of the Jade Pot Sect’s Inner Sect, and those with substantial, yet not quite high enough strength, can only hope to make it onto the list through competing in the Spiritual Chick Battle List.

Disciples ranked lower looking to advance further can only legitimately challenge and defeat those ahead of them on the Spiritual Chick Battle List to take their place.

Having emerged from seclusion, Yue Qi was utterly confident that he could defeat Mo Qing. Thus, his gaze toward her brimmed with an intensely strong will to fight, their eyes seemingly igniting invisible sparks in the air.

Although this look seemed to last long, it was only a momentary exchange. Yue Qi, knowing he could not take action in the Task Hall, walked straight over to where the Poison Vein disciples were gathered.

”Senior Brother Yue Qi, you’ve finally emerged from seclusion, congratulations!”

The first to speak was the Second Senior Brother Bi Luo, though his words clearly lacked sincerity. He had always been overshadowed by Yue Qi and had schemed in many ways to overtake the chief senior brother, never expecting the gap between them to widen instead.

With Bi Luo’s Power of Soul, he naturally knew that Yue Qi had made another breakthrough after his seclusion. The prospects of catching up to him were undoubtedly becoming even more difficult.

”Hmm!”

Yue Qi hummed lightly, paying no attention to Bi Luo. Instead, he glanced over at the Third Prince, Xuan Zhi, and then withdrew his gaze.

Having been swept over by Yue Qi’s look, Xuan Zhi’s heart gave a fierce thud. He could sense that Yue Qi’s strength was likely much stronger than both Bi Luo and Yin Huan. In a one-on-one fight, Yue Qi probably only needed to lift a finger to crush him.

However, after sensing Yue Qi’s formidable cultivation, a strange thrill rose in Xuan Zhi’s heart. If he could also make Yue Qi harbor resentment against Yun Xiao, then the plan this time might be accomplished even more smoothly.

”Yun Xiao, do you see? That’s Yue Qi. This time, even he is going to accept that Intermediate Spiritual Rank Meridian Treasure task!”

In a corner watching the figure of Yue Qi walk by, Xue Gong muttered something to himself that seemed quite pointed.

With Yun Xiao’s astuteness, how could he not realize that this annoying fellow was warning him, reminding him the vast difference in strength between himself and Yue Qi, and subtly hinting at Yun Xiao’s relationship with the Poison Vein lineage. This guy truly never misses an opportunity to put him down.

”Heh, we’re all part of the same Jade Pot lineage; shouldn’t we be united against external enemies first?”

Yun Xiao replied ambiguously, breaking into a smile. His response did carry some sense; even if the Medical and Poison lineages were at each other’s throats internally, they still belonged to the Jade Pot Sect.

For instance, if an external enemy invaded the Jade Pot Sect, the two lineages would certainly set aside their grievances to jointly resolve the external trouble first. That is the cohesion of a sect and the might of the Sect Leader.
