The SSS-rank Guide Doesn't Need Saving

Aisha didn’t know why he was hesitating. But she didn’t rush him.

For as long as he needed her to sign, he would surely agree to her terms. She didn’t even consider the prince going to the emperor to seek his approval.

If she was right, Soren couldn’t easily get the emperor’s approval. One, an engagement was a matter the royal family took seriously. If a royal family member must annul their marriage or engagement, one must come up with an irrefutable and justified reason.

Aisha’s rank as a guide didn’t put the royal family to shame. Rather, it didn’t matter what rank she was, as long as she turned out to be a guide. The Gaia Empire had quite a number of guides he could ask for assistance. So, this alone won’t disqualify Aisha’s eligibility as his betrothed.

Two, breaking off an engagement would be akin to turning back on one’s words. The royal family wouldn’t want to paint themselves as those who do not commit to their promises.

Three, annulling a marriage or engagement would be too long a process. And it would involve a lot of parties.

Soren won’t have any choice but to give her 30 million.

”Alright,” he resigned. ”I will give you 30 million in exchange for you signing the annulment papers.”

As a prince, Soren was not lacking in money either. However, he had spent a lot over the past two months to meet and gift some nobles who agreed to align themselves with him. And he had also given Irene, Aisha’s younger sister, an expensive gift on her birthday—a bug jade he bought at an auction.

The royal family members’ bank accounts are often checked. It was to ensure no one in the family dared to have any thought of rebelling and funding their own army.

Naturally, he and the royal family member have their own private accounts outside what can be checked regularly. But Soren’s mother, Consort Gabriel, controlled most of her son’s treasury. He had to get her permission to take 30 million from it.

Fortunately, he still has over 25-million-star credits in his bank account.

He took out his terminal, and under Aisha’s gaze, he directly sent the money to her account. He felt a little dejected parting with his money, and not just a small amount. It was 30 million! However, he couldn’t hesitate any longer and refuse this.

Who knows when Aisha will become so agreeable?

”I’ve sent you 25 million,” Soren announced. ”As for the rest, you can have the 5 million after we officially break up.”

Aisha nodded.

She didn’t care that he didn’t send her the full 30 million. Since he was worried that she might renege, he held her 5 million hostage.

If this were the former Aisha Novalis, she might go back on her promise and tell him that, since they were going to be husband and wife in the future, his money would be hers as well.

But Aisha wouldn’t do that.

If there was one thing that she and Prince Soren were similar in, it was that they both genuinely wanted out of this engagement. Just thinking about being tied to someone she didn’t like and had indirectly caused someone to die and yet so unrepentant... Aisha didn’t want to have anything to do with him.

Signing the annulment papers was easy.

Though a little different from what she used to.

Instead of just signing with ink, this world required both individual to inject a bit of their powers for it to be valid. This was the case for guides and sentinels. Common people did not have to undergo this tedious work.

Prince Soren signed and injected his own power into it. The instant he did, the air within the room became compressed and cold. It was like they were encased in ice.

What Prince Soren showed was just a bit of his power, condensing on his fingertip as he signed his name.

For a second, her instincts screamed danger.

It was as if her entire body was suddenly transported to the coldest part of the world. A strange and hair-raising feeling washed over her.

Behind him, a faint image of a huge and terrifying polar bear seemed to open its jaws and growl. Under that predator’s eyes, overwhelming pressure pressed on her.

Daisy fell on her knees, breaking a sweat and trembling. Her head was lowered as if she didn’t dare raise it even if she was ordered to.

It was an oppressive power that demanded absolute submission. A normal person couldn’t stand being around without their guts being shredded inside. That was what Daisy was feeling right now.

This... this was a high-level sentinel’s pressure?

Aisha, who was silently watching this unfold, was in awe. For a brief moment, she had heard the sound of a deep, vibrating rumble coming from that polar bear. One that sounded like a threat and... fear?

”It’s your turn.”

Before she could hear more of that sound, Soren stopped using his ability and glanced at her. He had the intent to make her afraid of him, reminding her that he wasn’t someone she should even deceive and cross. That was why he used his power a little more than he needed to sign his name.

Since she’s a low-ranked guide, it was normal for her to feel as if she were being crushed against a wall of ice. It would temporarily make her uncomfortable and perhaps get a cold later. But since she’s inside the hospital, she will recover quickly.

But to his surprise, Aisha looked unscathed.

She looked nothing like someone who was targeted by a high-level sentinel’s pressure.

Rather, her eyes beamed with amazement and respect.

To think she would witness something so wondrous like this after living in a ruined world. For once, Aisha thought transmigrating into this world wasn’t so bad.

It was not until Daisy reminded her that Aisha suddenly remembered she still needed to sign.

Aisha held the papers in her hand and held out her finger.

Then—

A brief hesitation flashed in her eyes.

How do I use my guide ability?
