The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 1855: Chapter 1855: Ancient Vine Elder

Sure enough, it’s a vine lifeform!

Jing Yan felt his scalp tingle, and his spirit was tensioned to the utmost.

Yet, shortly thereafter, Jing Yan began to feel a sense of confusion. For these thousands of vines did not continue to attack him.

Indeed, if these vines attacked Jing Yan now, there wouldn’t be even bones left of him. Not to mention his current strength being unable to withstand, Jing Yan felt that even if he entered the Dao Skill realm, he wouldn’t be able to fend off these thousands of vines.

After taking a deep breath, Jing Yan calmed down and began to observe these terrifying vines. Each one was waving, emanating terrifying waves of aura. Within them lay powerful Life Force. It was certain that these were not puppet-like things, but real lifeforms.

”The vine lifeform grabbed me in here but doesn’t kill me; what does this mean?”

”Could it be... it doesn’t want to devour me directly but instead wants to consume me slowly?”

Even Jing Yan couldn’t help but let his imagination wander. The vine lifeform before him was exceedingly strong. In his home universe, there were plant lifeforms as well, such as Duanmu Supreme, a plant lifeform born alongside the Chaotic Universe. But to compare Duanmu Supreme with this vine lifeform is like comparing dust to stars.

Jing Yan had never seen such a powerful plant lifeform.

Just then, the movement of the myriad vines suddenly intensified.

Jing Yan’s heart trembled again, instinctively thinking that the vines were about to attack him. But in an instant, he realized the vines were not aiming to attack but were moving to the sides, quickly clearing a space in the middle.

A human figure slowly walked out from within.

It was an old man, his white beard extended down to the ground. In his hand was a wooden staff. The old man’s gaze was profound and long-reaching, locked onto Jing Yan.

”You are called Jing Yan?” The old man spoke with a voice that had the weight of ages.

”I am indeed Jing Yan.” Jing Yan quickly bowed in salute.

”Senior... could you be the Ancient Tree Elder?” Jing Yan promptly asked.

All life in Endless Chaos knew this place was the Ancient Tree Elder Ruins.

”My master has long perished.” The old man gently shook his head.

”Master?” Jing Yan’s heart stirred, it seemed this old man referred to the Ancient Tree Elder as master.

Thus, he should hold a servant-like role to the Ancient Tree Elder. But for a servant to be this powerful?

Jing Yan wasn’t fully aware of the old man’s strength, but he was certain that ordinary strong people in the All Things Realm would probably die instantly before this old man. If even a servant is so terrifying, how strong must the Ancient Tree Elder be?

How truly strong are the Ultimate Strong People? How terrifying is the strength of lifeforms like Ancestor Hong Jun, who created the Ultimate Force?

Jing Yan subconsciously thought of many things.

”I am the Ancient Vine, you may call me Elder Guten. The Ancient Tree Elder was my master, who perished a long time ago.” Elder Guten continued.

”Elder Guten!” Jing Yan’s thoughts moved swiftly, quickly bowing respectfully again.

He did not know what Elder Guten wanted by bringing him here, but showing respect certainly wouldn’t hurt.

”Are you a lifeform from the Seed Universe? I sense a familiar scent on you.” Elder Guten nodded to Jing Yan.

”I am indeed a lifeform born from the cosmos nurtured by the Primordial Ancient Tree Seed.” Jing Yan promptly replied.

It was good news that Elder Guten sensed a familiar scent on him. Jing Yan seemed to somewhat understand why Elder Guten brought him here, evidently sensing a familiar scent.

Otherwise, why not bring Die Dong and Ye Hai?

Especially Void Son Die Dong, who was actually the leader of the trio entering these ruins, and Die Dong’s strength was even a bit greater than Jing Yan’s.

”Jing Yan, I can feel your Life Aura is very young.”

”Ah, it’s been a long, long time since I’ve sensed that familiar scent.”

”Ever since my master’s death, all became a distant hope. Haha, who would have thought, after all these years, I would feel that familiar scent once more.” Elder Guten seemed to be talking to himself.

Jing Yan became tense again.

These few sentences, why do they feel somewhat off? Elder Guten mentioned ’familiar scent’ multiple times. Could it really be that he wishes to devour me? His words sounded as if an ordinary person were coming across hometown delicacies again after a long absence.

In vine lifeforms, those that consume lifeforms as food are relatively more common.

In Jing Yan’s home universe, it was the same. Some vine lifeforms had a preference for fresh blood of lifeforms.

”You need not be nervous, Jing Yan.” Elder Guten seemingly felt Jing Yan’s emotions, his aged face seemingly revealed a smile.

”I do not consume humans.” Elder Guten seemingly had insight into Jing Yan’s heart.

”The moment you three entered the ruins, I sensed it. I felt the familiar aura on you, hence I took action to bring you in here. There is, of course, another reason: your youth and your talent satisfy me.” Elder Guten gazed at Jing Yan.

”I wish to ask you, are you willing to become the Guardian of the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree Space?” Elder Guten turned to ask.

”What?” Jing Yan was astonished.

Guardian of the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree Space?

Jing Yan knew that some lifeforms were destined to protect the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree Space. These lifeforms were immensely strong, preventing outsiders from entering the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree Space. If any lifeform entered without permission, they would be furiously attacked by the space’s lifeforms.

”You may consider it.”

”Becoming a Guardian means you have an obligation to protect the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree, and you will receive an inheritance, an extremely powerful one. In the words of those lifeforms outside, it is an Ultimate Inheritance. At its peak, it allows entry into the ranks of the Ultimate Strong People, perhaps even surpassing the ultimate.” Elder Guten said slowly.

Reach the Ultimate? Surpass the Ultimate?

Jing Yan was somewhat bewildered.

”Senior!”

”I haven’t been out of the Seed Universe for long, but I have heard of the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree Space. I know the lifeforms there are exceedingly powerful, and though my talent is somewhat decent, I still don’t quite understand why senior wishes for me to become a Guardian, given my current strength is quite weak.” Jing Yan asked after pondering.

”Ah, Jing Yan!”

”Well! I may share some things with you. The Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree is already in dire straits, likely unable to persist much longer. Once the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree is destroyed, the entire Endless Chaos will fall into darkness, with no light.” Elder Guten looked ahead as if lost in memories.

”Although I haven’t returned to the Ancient Tree Space for quite a long time, I can sense it. Because, long ago, I was just an ordinary vine on the Primordial Chaos Ancient Tree.”
